So sorry to hear that this great location has closed. Awesome ambiance and great food is what this Chevys location was known for. I’m sure that the liberal bull&$@” political climate in SF had something to do with this fine restaurants demise. sad.

This is my first time here in Unilocal and yes you are my first review. I ordered frozen mango margarita and it was so good. Our waitress was nice. Then i ordered to go for my parents but then i was upset because they didnt have a plastic bag for my orders, «how can i carry it, i dont have a car?!» So instead of a bag, our waitress gave us a garbage bag lol, so funny. It was so big, i felt so embarass when i carry it but hey we didnt have a choice but u knw next time, i’ll bring my own recycle bag for sure

I love my Chevys. The flautas were hot and tasty, chips and salsa signature perfect(hot fresh chips that are light as air, perfectly spiced fresh salsa). The margarita was yummy($ 1 off during happy hour) and my bartender Johnathan was prompt, curious and on point. Just had time for a drink and an app, but it scratched my itch for the Chevy’s I love. Wish they had more locations around the world!

Horrible service but 1 extra for their delicious, fresh guacamole and never ending supply of chips and salsa. Tips: +you can’t get HH prices unless you sit in the HH area which is kind of dumb imo but also kind of annoying because it’s reallyyy loud and if you just want to sit with your friends in a slightly quieter place, you can’t capitalize on the deal. Anyways, just a head’s up! +get the guac! +margaritas are slightly watered down/extra sweet so get the extra shot

Chevys is literally my favorite restaurant. Whatever. Call me basic. BUT. Before you judge me. Read on. Chevys doesn’t lie about«being the best Mexican food in town». It’s not. Ya. You could go to some hipster Mexican restaurant in the mission, but you could also get mediocre Tex Mex with unlimited chips and delicious salsa with FAT margaritas for a third of the price. Oh, it’s your birthday? Chevys gots you covered. They will serenade you with a sweet birthday tune, top your head with a sombrero, and give you a delicious frozen treat… Are you are your friends getting shwasty on a Tuesday night? Chevys doesn’t judge. They will keep serving up grande bull dog margaritas until you can’t stand. Chevys staff wants to see you happy and drunk. Chevys. Is. Amazing. From the cheese enchiladas to their sizzling fajitas, this place knocks it out of the park.

I’ve passed this Chevy’s so many times and after just needing a margaritta, I finally stopped by. This, by far, was the worst Chevy’s experience I have ever had. Working in SSF, our team would frequent the Chevy’s there for the great happy hour and honestly, great service in the bar. However, with this one, it was like night and day. Service was slow and inattentive. My guacamole that I’ve seen made in front of my many times was made in a far corner without me watching so I couldn’t even tell him I didn’t want any peppers in it this time around. The food took forever and I won’t be back to this location.

I really enjoyed my fajitas. Shrimp. And my hubby liked his fish tacos… friend was in love with her nachos. Pleasantly surprised. I wish they stayed open later. and lemons in my water looked more cared for. If that makes any sense. I’d go again.

Stopped in for a quick bite during a convention in the near by Moscone Center. There was a slight lineup due to large group at the convention. I was by myself. Once seated I was quickly looked after with chips and salsa and huge margarita to sip on. I ordered the fajitas that had 4 items chicken, steak, shrimp and pork. Came out sizzling with lots of sides. Very nice. Only one down side. Suggest more tortilla shells than just 3. 4 – 5 if just one person. At least 6 if sharing.

Bought a Groupon for a Paint Nite. Not impressed with the drinks or the class. The margaritas are WEAK and expensive for all that ice. The paint nite class was not what I expected and too crowded. They make you copy a painting, not paint on your own. We ended up copying one painting of a winter night. I wanted to paint my own version of a winter night. They music was blasting and no one spoke to anyone other than who they came with. The worst part is that the instructor goes around and«fixes» your painting for you. Excuse me, I came here to paint, not to have the instructor take the brush out of my hand and paint it the way she wanted it to look. Won’t be doing that again.

Came her for a friends birthday, just us two. I was satisfied with the service, I wish I would have gotten the waiters name. He was hella cool and really nice and recommended a few things. He took his time, checked on us and even turned the music up for me. lol Over all he was the bomb!

So many things changed in a short time at Chevys. use to be my favourite. PlacE but not anymore I liked their border wings which one comes in a big round plate for $ 10.49 now same price small plate and their happy hour means between Monday to Friday 3 – 7 only $ 1 off for margarita you know what this is a ROBBERY!!! Never ever will come again !!!

There was no wait to be seated on a Saturday! We sat by the bar and Jasmine was our server. She was very attentive, nice and gave great recommendations! We got the sampler which includes a chicken quesadilla, chicken nachos, wings, and flautas! For drinks, I highly recommend the Corona Margarita!!! A shot of tequila and a small Coronita!!!

Saw the rating on Unilocal prior but was stubborn and hungry in the area so decided to stop by here. The happy hour is not the best. The margaritas are still overpriced and really sour. Not tasty at all. I also ordered the BBQ chicken wings. Hard and no flavor. The best part was the chips with salsa and guacamole. I don’t know if SF has an El Torito but they desperately need one cause even El Torito which is also a mex chain is way better!

Well it was fresh. I will give them that. It was also convenient and close. Went here with some guys after a work party. Table for 10 usually is a hassle but the place was pretty empty. Drinks were good and fast. The food was fresh but the flavors were not very inspiring. Our waiter didn’t seem to understand some of what were were asking him and a few things were missing from our orders. He did get them all corrected and the experience was otherwise uneventful. I’d go back but only if someone else really wanted to and there were no other options.

I was late to meeting friends so they’d ordered ahead for me. This place was packed out the door on my particular visit, but I also noticed a couple of empty tables along the side windows which they were, surprisingly, taking a very long time to fill considering the line. I made a beeline for our table and was greeted by a still warm salad. It was hard looking for a waiter to get utensils. Manfriend ended up grabbing forks from an empty table next to mine(shhh!). We couldn’t find a waiter for a drink either so I ended up sipping from everyone else’s. The salad was not at all eye-catching. It was a pale green mess with dark lumps of meat in random places. I’d asked if someone had dug into my salad first, and was met with resounding no’s. I guess that’s just how they plate it. So imagine my surprise when I dug in and it ended up being one of the best salads I’ve ever had! It was evenly well-dressed with a sweet and not-too-tangy dressing adorned by pork that pulled apart and nearly melted on my tongue. There were small bits of cheese and some roasted peppers that changed up the flavor now and then. But oh the meat on that salad! Can we go back to this for one minute? SO flavorful, and there was a slight crust on it. MMM! I was so sad when it ended :( And then came the search for a waiter to wrap up the entire event. I’d come back here again and again for the salad, but not necessarily for service. I wish I could give you a name but Manfriend is forgetful. He’d asked them for the most popular salad.

This place reminded me of a Mexican food Fridays… but the food wasn’t great. We came for a quick lunch between sessions of a conference at the Moscone Center. I ordered the guac and the fish fajitas. Both were ok. They make the quac tableside, but there wasn’t any pizzazz or fun with the presentation/show. Really nothing special to talk about the fajitas except the plate was pretty big. Also the tortillas that came with the plate were strange, not the usual flour or corn tortillas. Too thick for my liking. Service was not that speedy and the place was empty. We waited quite a while for the check and then for the server to pick it up. Probably wouldn’t race back to this place if I come back to SF.

Service was reaaaalllyy s-l-o-w. It’s a good thing our party of 10+ meant an 18% tip was guaranteed. The cheeseless nachos were pretty decent. I was pleasantly surprised by the salsa that came with the tortilla chips. Those were really good and I would go so far as to buy it were they sold fresh in stores. The margaritas and sangrias too were easy on the taste buds(coming from someone who isn’t a beverage afficionado). The shrimp fajitas were definitely not worth it. The shrimps were practically tasteless and bland. And to find out later that it clocked in a whopping 1130 calories with a breathtaking 4730mg of sodium with a gut wrenching 164g of carbs had me seething at myself for having ordered this monstrosity for $ 19. If only I’d known(or asked for the nutritional info«menu») Lastly, their tomalito was really good — I can only describe it as a sweetened tamali with the texture of polenta or grits. Yea you must be wondering«why the heck did you go eat there?» Well it was one section of a b’day party with friends, and we had a great time so that made up for it.

Went here for lunch as it is a stones throw from Moscone centre. The menu is quite extensive and the tortillas they serve when you arrive is good as is the salsa they serve with it. I had a craving for Mexican food and this was the closest place there. For main course I had the sizzling beef fajitas and I am afraid there was nothing sizzling about it ;-) it came with black beans, veggies, sour cream, guacamole and salsa. Also there was nice freshly made tacos. The beef was overcooked and bit chewy but the flavour was nice and had a bit of heat to it. The tacos were nice and warm and also had that nice chewy texture which I love. Service is ok here and they do have outdoor seating. Given the choice I would go to the brewery 50m down the road but this place is not bad either.

The pineapple coconut margarita is amazing. I felt as if I was laying on the beach at some Mexican resort. The food was ok. I wasn’t that hungry but still ordered the fish tacos. My friend had the veggie burrito. It was massive & looked very good.
