This place is listed as open but is currently CLOSED. They need to update their hours on Unilocal and if they say they’re open, actually BE open. They also don’t have hours posted at the door. How do I know all this? Well, because TODAY in the middle of the day on Saturday, when they listed themselves as open, my friend and I trekked all the way to the outer sunset for this place– only to find that it was closed. Very annoying and bad for business. If you want your cheese fries fix, you’re gonna have to call ahead of time to make sure they’re fucking open. Quel disappointment.

Wait wait wait how did this place get 4 stars? Is the cheese even 100% real cheese? I love cheese and potatoes so maybe my expectations were too high. The idea is good but the quality of the ingredients need to be better. Here’s a better cheese recipe. Choose 2 or 3 of the melting cheeses. I recommend cheddar, mozzarella, american… Then add an acidic liquid like white wine or lemon juice. Then you pour that shit on everything.

Discovered this cute little shop while trying to find a snack on Irving, but only had plastic. After skipping 4 stores, we found Chee Spud, where their main ingredient is the potato. You can get fried potato balls, french fries, crumbled potatoes, etc. and then add toppings + cheese on top of it all! I ended up getting the fried potato balls with spicy nacho cheese, and it was delicious. Also wanted a drink, so the girl working in the shop offered samples of their fruit tea. It was so refreshing we had to say yes. You can also eat the fruit when you’re done drinking the tea. We got the curry fishballs as well, but they were not so satisfying. The curry sauce was basically watered down, and I know that I could have easily just boiled some fish balls from the Chinese market down the street from my house and dipped it in some sauce. Probably won’t get those again. I’m coming back when I’m in the area again for some more of those fried potato balls!

A place that lets me customize how I want to eat my potatoes?! Yes please! The concept and the ordering process can be overwhelming, but the staff was super friendly and took the time to explain to us how it works. She even checked up on us while we were eating to see how we liked our food! We ended up just ordering the Ocean Bliss off the menu. Even then, you get to choose the type of potato, whether you want your cheese spicy or not, and between a side of chips or slaw. We chose the potato balls with not spicy cheese and a side order of chips. The whole thing was a little much, even for a potato lover like me. The potato balls were on the bottom with a generous variety of seafood on top, and of course, a bunch of cheese drenched all over. My friend and I could only finish about half of it before we couldn’t eat any more. It was good, but it just had way too much stuff. The side of chips were just tortilla chips with a side of nacho cheese. It was nice, since that meant that we could try both cheeses. I prefer the nacho(spicy) cheese over the nonspicy cheese. This place has potential. I will probably come back to try the fries next time and customize instead. And I will be sure to bring more friends to help me eat!

While I am not a fan of cheese at all as anyone who knows me will tell you, I ended up here because some of my cousins wanted to try it and they have other options that don’t include cheese. We ended up getting a Beefy Beefy as well as a Garlic Fries with bacon. For the price you pay I was quite happy with the amount of food you get. I can’t say much about how the Beefy Beefy tasted but it seemed like everyone liked it and there was quite a large amount of toppings on it. It comes in the small clear to-go containers for reference in size and it filled to the brim. The Garlic fries on the other hand were seasoned very well and had a great crisp to it. I loved that we could add bacon on top and come on who doesn’t like bacon? It was a great snack to munch on if you’re on Irving. I would say only downfall is that the store kept how Sushi Rolls was and is small with very little and cramped seating but if its just one or two people it is great place to catch up and snack.

Cheese. And potatoes. With tons of toppings. ‘Nuff said. First of all, the staff is super friendly and very helpful to all the people who eud up confused and disoriented when they walk in(what IS a cheespud?) Secondly, the portions are significant. The prices are a little high for what looks like a «snack» place, but for the specialties, the sheer amount of cheese, toppings, and spud is entirely worth it. I personally loved the Ocean Bliss, filled with shrimp, crab, and other seafood goodies. Definitely get the spicy nacho cheese(it’s not spicy, but its definitely flavorful), unless you really like mellow cheese, in which case you should get the classic cheese. They also have a cool little«drink of the week» that they’ll offer to you. Try it, it won’t hurt! It’s definitely made from fresh ingredients and its pretty refreshing to boot! You’ll get like a dollar off of your meal with it as well. Basically, if you like cheese and potatoes, then you should DEFINITELY come here.

Interesting concept but falls short of expectations. You can choose from a crispy potato, croquettes, or fries as the base and either one of their presets or build your own. You get two meat toppings and one veggie topping with the latter. Prices are pretty reasonable — build your own is $ 6.49 and the presets are $ 8.49. There are lots of meat and seafood options as well as veggies. I got the Ocean Bliss, which is scallops, shrimp, tuna, octopus, and corn. I got the potato croquettes since the big potato just seemed so dense. You can also choose from two cheese sauces and additional other sauces(such as teriyaki, spicy mayo, etc) to top your concoction. I think the concept can be better executed with more heating of the potatoes and toppings, and less dense potatoes. The croquettes were very dense and lack flavor. Fries are probably a better choice. Or maybe they can just do a nice crispy potato skin. The toppings are a great idea but the base is poorly executed.

Potato croquettes & nacho cheese sounds brilliant, doesn’t it? I think it was poorly executed though. You get to choose croquette balls, a giant croquette or fries and then your choice of toppings and cheese(spicy or regular). I had the Ocean bliss with shrimp, octopus, scallops, canned tuna, corn and crab. Everything was under seasoned and overcooked. The cheese was bland as well. On the wall it says they all come with slaw or chips but the person working there said it was a promo.

Its basically potatoes with bits of meat that is kind of similar to rummaging through your fridge for whatever leftover you can find to throw in it, and then pour cheese all over. It’s like a weird concoction of leftovers with potatoes and cheese. That was my whole thought as I was eating it because I was definitely not satisfied, especially at the cost of $ 9. I don’t think i’d still find myself eating it if it was $ 4. I didn’t even finish it and I did not want to bring it home. Concept is cool, especially if you love potatoes, but it was definitely not worth a second visit at all. I think the downhill is the not so freshness of the ingredients. They’re prepped, and then left there slightly heated throughout the whole day. And by the lack of customers, those ingredients sit there the whole day.

Build your loaded plate and get stuffed like there’s no tomorrow! Firstly, choose your spud: — crusted potato — croquettes — french fries(freshly-made) Then easily stack your mound of various meat/seafood, veggies, and toppings. Don’t feel guilty; sometimes you just have to go ALLOUT! The concept isn’t the first of its kind, but I have to admit the ingredients made it its own ballpark. At that time I was too lazy and hungry to customize, so I just went with one of their signature dishes. BEEFYBEEFY($ 8.49) — beef steak, beef sausage, bacon, corn, mushroom, green onion, sour cream. I wanted a lot of protein and I got that. I wanted a lot of flavor and I got that. I wanted to eat until it was hard to walk… and yes, I got that. It felt like I was six months preggo afterwards ~ A really small place, but good service and good food!

Cheespud is the weirdest concept you’ll ever eat and enjoy thoroughly. Think American meets Japanese. You start with some sort of spud — French fries, baked potato, or croquette balls. They also had udon noodles on display but it wasn’t on the menu, so maybe that’s a new addition. Then you can choose your meats, veggies, and various toppings, and your choice of cheese. My order? I got the croquette balls, with scallops and beef, corn, boiled egg, green onion, cilantro, shredded cheese, and seaweed flakes, with spicy cheese. I ordered it with the free side salad — basically tastes like coleslaw from KFC. It was such an odd experience every time I took a bite. But it was delicious and I liked it. I love potatoes so I couldn’t go wrong with whatever I chose! Just a warning, it’s a pretty small shop so if you’ve got a big group, be prepared to get your food to-go!

After looking at countless IG photos of french fries/potato balls drenched in cheese, I finally caved and checked this place out. My girlfriend and I came here on a foggy afternoon. We ordered the Ocean Bliss with Potato Croquettes and a mix of spicy and classic cheeto cheese. We opted out on the free salad/chips since we were saving our appetite for ice cream. We waited 5 minutes and load and behold our potato balls were ready. It was drenched in so much cheesy goodness that after a few bites it became a bit overwhelming. The ocean bliss was pretty much a fresh seafood mix; it contained tuna, scallops, shrimp, octopus, and crab meat. Overall, it was a interesting experience. This place has a lot of potential and it has a pretty neat concept. I will definitely come back and try their other specialties. :)

Saw this place via Instagram and had to get them out! Potatoes covered in nacho cheese, meat and toppings??! Just right up my alley! First off, I didn’t know you could choose from 3 potato styles(I’ve only seen the drenched potato balls in photos). There’s regular cut fries, baked potato and potato croquette(which are the balls). You can choose from their signature menu or create your own. Ocean bliss and tako sounded good, but I didn’t like what some of the toppings were so I went with the ‘create your own’ option. Croquette was my potato of choose, spicy nacho as my cheesy sauce(classic cheeto had a sweet after taste and It wasn’t tickling my fancy – ask for a sample of each), and grilled shrimp/REAL crab meat. Nope, its not imitation. REAL– I like how they had to add that in. I guess some people don’t wanna get ‘played’ with the fake stuff. lol For my toppings I added sautéed mushroom, sour cream, seaweed flakes, bonito flakes, shredded cheese and cilantro(you know… for color). There’s plenty of toppings to choose from… so you can ‘get crazy’. The cost for my creation came out to about $ 5+ with a side of nachos to accompany my hot potato mess. The lady serving me said there was a promo… get a side of nachos or coleslaw for free99. Holler. I said to myself that I would only eat half of my loaded potato croquette medley. But ended up inhaling the whole thing. It was that good. Potatoes? crunchy outside, warm and soft inside. REAL crab meat/grilled shrimp drenched in nacho cheese and covered in toppings were ONPOINT. It was all good. Posted it on Instagram to make all my peeps jelly of what was goin’ in my belly. I was definitely satisfied with my order. Overall, service was good, seating is ehh(dining area is quite small, so don’t bring a big group here!), pricing is reasonable and the food? Quite comforting and good(you’ll slip into a food coma after). I’ll be back for more when Im in the area!

Checked out CheeSpud today and have to say… meh! I got the Ocean Bliss w/potato croquettes and spicy nacho sauce, and I liked the croquettes but everything else seemed kind of average. The Ocean bliss is basically a seafood medley that comes with tuna, crabmeat, shrimp, octopus, scallops, and corn. The shrimp were small but delicious and the scallops were the small kind. You also get a choice of free cheesy chips(basically nachos) or salad with your order. Overall, I am giving this place 3 stars because it just didn’t feel like anything special. The interior was a typical Asian café design, and the cheese they were using pretty much tasted like the nacho cheese you get on your chips at the movie theater! I think it’s an interesting idea to have a potato based café, but it could use some work!

Potatoes and melted cheese?! TAKEMYMONEYNOW! My boyfriend and I ordered the Beefy Beefy(beef steak, bacon, mushrooms, corn, green onion, and sour cream) $ 8.49 STEP1: choose between fries, potato croquettes, or fried whole potato STEP2: choose between salad or chips with cheese dip STEP3: choose between classic cheeto or spicy nacho(the cheese sauce) We chose ours with croquettes, chips with cheese dip, and classic cheeto(because I’m a lil b*tch and can’t take spicy) Everything was surprisingly good! The beef was extremely tender and I felt like it was good quality(: The croquettes don’t have much taste on its own, so I recommend breaking them up so you can mix it in with everything else. The cheese sauce that they have isn’t think at all, which I really enjoyed. I didn’t feel too guilty after eating it ^__^ overall I liked it! I do think that it’s a bit pricey for what it is though.

Good concept but I don’t like soggy fries or drench in water down nacho cheese Love the idea and the toppings. The toppings are fresh and good quality especially the meats There are two things I think Cheese Spud can approve on: 1. Dine in — I suggest putting the cheese in a container so we can pour the cheese on top of the spud ourselves. I ordered The Club one with fries but the person pour way too much nacho cheese on top of the fries. I felt like I was eating/drinking cheese soup? Also the cheese was kinda water down? Not thick so all my toppings and fries were mixed like soup. To prevent this maybe more fries to offset the cheese or let us portion the amount. I know take out they put the cheese sauce in a separate container which is way better. My brother ordered the potato balls which were way better cause they were denser but he had way too much cheese too 2. Seems like a hassle or time consuming of the worker checks off the menu? Why don’t u have the order place cards out for the customers and let us choose ourselves rather than asking what we wanted and writing yourself? Kinda like the hotpot style. Seems more efficient that way Overall, good but definitely need to work out the nacho cheese serving. No one likes soggy fries I know I don’t

Second time here in two days. I gave five stars here because of their attitude. It’s a new thing of the street the food is good but I like the way they help people. Alice, the girl who works here spent three minutes introduced me the whole process to «make what you like» here and she was not rush at all. We really enjoyed talking to her. The other girl who works with her was also really nice. They always have their smile on their face. They made my day.

Randomly walked in to this new place today with bff. Really like the style of this place, bright and clean. The stuffs were really nice. Food was prepared fast. I look though the box. A lot of toppings and cheese. It already smelled amazing. The first bit is awesome. Overall, this new cheespud place is great. Healthy and fresh food plus«make what you like» style. The seating is not a big problem here cuz most people take the orders to go.

Random visit to ever changing Irving Street and found one of the new places on their grand opening. Awesome! Upon entry your are thrust unto the cafeteria style setup. Obeying the«order here» sign on the sneeze guard on the left side I lined up right there. No line but stood there. Workers were busy assembling orders but greeted me with a smile and apologized for any wait. Which is nice. I ordered the Hotate and opted for the potato balls and spicy cheese sauce. The Hotate came with scallops, broccoli, fish, half hard boiled egg, and fish fakes. Handed the cashier my order slip and she rang me up. Seating was pretty limited. They had bar stool seating along the windows and had one larger table and one small table. The small table was right by a door that swung into the seating area that was already quite cramped. The staff were constantly going in and out from the door as they began crowding in for the possibly busy dinner rush, which is fine because being prepared is better than unprepared. Finally the food. Looked like a mix of seafood and cheese with a sprinkling of veggies. It was a comfusing blend of warm and cold. The cheese wasn’t that salty which isn’t bad. The veggies seemed fresh but were cold. So it was distracting every time I got a veggie bite. The scallops were good though. Not too chewy. The cheese was just warm but what really made the meal warm was the potatoes. The ground fish was what seemed like tuna, but I could be mistaken. That was cold also. Did I like it? Yes. The wait, took a while because they were making the potato balls. The price of $ 8.49 is kinda steep for just a potato with veggies and cheese sauce on top. I’d give it another shot down the road for sure and hopefully then they would have ironed out the kinks in the ordering system and the food prep.

Stumbled upon the grand opening of Cheespud and was excited to try it out. Since it was completely new, we came in trying to figure out how order. The workers welcomed us in and were very friendly while helping us with making our selections. We decided to go with the beefy beefy with a fried peeled potato covered with beef steak, bacon, mushrooms, corn and sour cream($ 8.49) and the hotate with potato balls covered with scallops, ground fish, pineapple, half boiled egg, broccoli, spicy mayo and Bonito flakes($ 8.49). You get to choose between spicy or non spicy cheese. Overall, I thought the spuds were ok. I felt like their price points for the spuds were a bit pricey. When I order a baked potato I expect it to be served hot. My beefy beefy’s cheese came room temperature and the mushrooms/corn were cold. The hotate had more flavor but the broccoli that came with it was cold as well.
