We came her with a groupon last night and Idk why this place has such bad reviews. Our service was good, food was really good and the restaurant ambiance was good! The butterscotch dessert was amazing but I love butterscotch. The crab was really Meaty and flavorful. I would come here again even without a groupons

Great service, great food, and family-owned restaurant in Fisherman’s Wharf! Clam chowder, mixed vegetables, and crab sandwich were excellent! Gonzalez, our server, made great recommendations and very personable yet professional. Highly recommend!

Hostess was rude and unprofessional. Cannot manage seating and reservations for the restaurant without an attitude. Lousy customer service. Bound to go out of business before long.

We had absolutely the worst experience at this restaurant. The hostess is very rude and very unprofessional. They should not be in the business to serve customers with this kind of attitude. We called and mentioned we have a groupon and was offered 5pm or 9pm as they had a huge party of people in between those hours. We made it back at 4pm and checked in with them and was told they can accommodate the 3 of us. I went to get my husband and son. When we returned 30 minutes later, we were told we’re too late. She blamed us for not coming back right away. Are you kidding me? Right before that, the hostess offered a couple a table but they weren’t interested and left. So, when I confronted her about the table she just offered to the couple in front of us who left, her reply was because we had a groupon and they can’t take us until the next day. Really? I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Very rude hostess. She should not be the face if the restaurant. We’re taking money somewhere else. Don’t offer groupon if you don’t want to take them.

We used to like this restaurant, but after one disappointing experience last year, I doubt we will be back. We ordered steamers and there were barely any clams or mussels visible inside the shells, they were that small. Also, unlike other times, the broth was simply bland and it used to be full of flavor and different spices. The cocktails were weak and service unenthusiastic.

Great food and the drinks are packed with a punch! Our server, Phil is a real gentleman and a scholar. He definitely took great care of us and we are extremely please with all the staff. They complimented an amazing evening.

Loved the Chicken Marsala, was tired of fish at all the other places. Our waitress from Rome was happy to let us enjoy our wine before ordering and never felt rushed. Added plus their Happy Hour prices are GREAT!

My husband and I stopped in after a long day of exploring San Francisco for a little bit of seafood. We didn’t want a whole lot so we decided to share the combo steamer. After a recommendation from our waitress we decided to save the complimentary sourdough to dip in our«sauce» — great recommendation and the perfect way to get past the cold, chewy sourdough. The oysters seemed pretty small and sad in our basket and we had a clam that only half opened so it was a little hard to eat with the pointy shell sticking up but overall the juice made the plate and was a perfect combo with some lemon wedges squeezed over it. Probably not somewhere I would go again but we enjoyed ourselves and I think Capurro’s has some good offerings and service.

Could be a tourist trap if you do it wrong. Got a table on the patio. Ordered all the bar bites and a round of the cocktail of the week from the bar. Had a super enjoyable time with the whole family for over an hour eating good food and drinks for $ 60 in total.

Cappurro’s: the quality of food good the service a 1 star. Wandering the Fishermans Wharf for lunch, we stumbled on this restaurant mainly because I was in search for a Lobster Roll. We were greeted and seated. Our waiter Gonzales Wener took our drink orders as we checked out the menu. My husband wanted ½ dozen oysters on the half shell, but wanted the minuet sauce(all of 5 ingredients, shallots, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper), we were told by our Gonzales that that request would be no problem at all. We also ordered the Baked Clams along with my Lobster Roll. The oysters and lobster roll were delivered first by another waiter, when asked where the minuet sauce was, we were told the kitchen doesn’t make it. We returned the oysters to look at the menu again. We then ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Steamers(steamed in a garlic herb broth with grilled sourdough crostini). By this time I was almost done with my lobster roll, which was excellent. Finally, the shrimp came but came as a Jumbo Shrimp Fettuccini, AGAIN that went back. When the correct dish finally came out, I was done and had to ask our Gonzales to comp us something while I sit there and wait for their 2 mess-ups. Gonzales comped us 2 beers. When I asked to speak to a Manager I was told there was no Manager on duty that day, really? How can you run a restaurant and have no Manager, even McDonald’s has a Manager on site. And when I’m spending $ 81.00 on LUNCH food and the order was delivered not only once wrong but twice, there better be a damn Manager on site.

Avoid. We stopped because we got tired of looking at restaurant after restaurant. It’s a little like impulse shopping, go with a list and a plan or Capurro’s will happen to you. Started with the Clam Chowder. It was all cream and potato. No extra flavour, no complexity to the soup. It was just salty cream with potatoes and a few pieces of overcooked clams. Cesar salad with shrimp. This wasn’t bad. We ordered the large shrimp and there were about 5 that came with the salad. It was nicely dressed and quite lemony, which I liked. Mussel pizza. Ok, first, the mussels are on the shells and kind of thrown on the pizza, so you have to deshell them. The crust was the best part. It needed more tomato sauce for sure and some more seasoning, maybe some fresh oregano or something… Maybe I just ordered the wrong dishes :(

We really enjoyed our stop at Capurro’s. We arrived with a group of seven including children.(As and FYI, we had some picky kids in the group and a couple of seasoned hotel F&B people). The owner was present and attentive to his guests. There was a large group of Italians who were in the middle of being served which caused our server a slight delay. This was not problematic in the least as the owner noticed and came by our table to make sure we were doing well. He is a friendly man with a good personality suited to welcoming tourists. As for the food, the clam chowder — which is a main draw at a pier in San Francisco — was excellent as was the Caesar salad. A couple of the kids had chicken fingers and they enjoyed them. Everything arrived as expected and was tasty. Capurro’s is situated close to the trolleys and Ghirardelli’s square and makes a great stop off point while strolling around. It’s a casual spot well suited to families, couples and groups alike. It was also quite affordably priced compared to some of the other locations nearby. I’m giving it five stars because the location, product, service and management fulfilled, if not surpassed, all my expectations.

We got a groupon and since we weren’t able to dine in and the groupon was expiring, they were nice enough to let us take it to go. We got 2 crabs, 2 servings of pasta and a dessert to share. The crabs were pretty good. They were pretty meat-y, but didn’t have too much flavor if you don’t like dunking it in butter. The pasta was meh. Tasted like something I could make with a jar of sauce I bought from Safeway with a couple of added slices. The dessert was really good though! it was some kind of flan that came with a biscotti. Overall, the crab was pretty good, and the dessert was really good, but the pasta was ehh. Not really a good complete meal in my book, but most of it was good.

Fisherman’s Wharf is not usually our destination point for dinner, but we ventured into this tourist mecca to cash in on a Groupon at Capurro’s for a crab dinner. With 6:30pm reservations for a Tuesday evening, we were promptly seated at a window table facing the Cannery. We asked our waiter about the selections for deal and he explained that each of us would be entitled to a Dungeness crab dinner with a choice of soup, salad or pasta. The crab can be selected as chilled, chilled and marinated with garlic and herb vinaigrette, steamed, or Woodstone roasted(recommended by the waiter), Manhattan or New England clam chowder or Caesar salad. Our order: Caesar salad — nicely dressed salad with shave parmesan cheese with large croutons.( ) Cup of New England clam chowder: good flavors, but short in clams and potatoes.( ) Woodstone roasted crab: we both chose this recommended version. Decent size crab in a flavorful garlic wine sauce. Enjoyed dipping the house French bread into this sauce. As for the crab, it did not appear to be very fresh since the meat was not firm and was not white in color.( ) Butterscotch pudding topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce. A very tasty pudding.( ) Overall, an ok meal given that the star of the meal, the Dungeness crab, was not up to par. Would have been more disappointed had we paid full price for this meal.

3.5 stars I like that Capurro’s is at the end of Jefferson Street, far enough from bustling Pier 39 while still being walkably close. I like that the aquatic theme isn’t overdone. And most importantly, I like that they’ve got their own(free!) parking lot around back. Armed with expiring Groupon on hand(or rather in phone), we had a 3-course late lunch/early dinner. We had: – clam chowder, red for him(tasted like minestrone) & white for me(buttery, herby, delicious) – appetizer(not included in groupon deal): beer battered shrimp: plump & fresh with a light batter coating. Did not care for tartar sauce, which tasted too sweet. – wood stone toasted crab in garlic sauce: smelled repulsive. I was unable to take more than one bite after that odor hit my nostrils. Crab legs were very skinny & meat did not look white & fresh. We agreed the roasted crab we had at Fisherman’s Grotto was much, much better. – butterscotch pudding for dessert: firm, served in a cute jar, a little on the small side for me(my sweet tooth wants more!) Total cost of groupon, tax, tip, & appetizer: $ 85 Aside from the unappealing crab(ain’t ordering that again!), I enjoyed other parts of our meal. Great service. Prices aren’t ridiculous(for the area.) Classy space with comfortable booths & large windows.

Capurro’s has been a SF and Fisherman’s Wharf staple since 1946, it has stood the test of time with many surrounding restaurants coming and going. They are family owned and operated and they treat their customers just like family as well. They specialize in fresh seafood most likely caught right from the SF Bay but they also serve up many yummy Italian dishes as well. Myself and a friend decided to come here one Sunday evening because she had a Groupon deal that was about to expire. The place was jam packed with people so the wait for a table was about 15 – 20 minutes, not too bad. When walking insde the restaurant it does have a very vintage feel to it. Everything is wood, from the malls, to the floors and tables and chairs, with various sea related decorations as well. Once we were seated we immediately were greeted by the waiter and notified him of the Groupon deal which was $ 45 for two crabs, 2 sides, and 2 desserts(drinks were not included). I ordered the Rotini Marinara as my side which came out first and I was not impressed, I could have made better at home lol. As for the crab I ordered the Woodstone Roasted Crab in White Wine Garlic sauce and it was amazing, the sauce was perfect and the crab was nice and meaty, every claw and leg had tremendous amounts of meat in them! I normally don’t eat crab in public because it’s so messy and I don’t use the crab crackers I use my teeth, let’s just say we were getting crab all over us and refused to wear the bibs lol. I was too full to eat the dessert which was a butterscotch pudding so I took it home and it was amazing as well. Overall this i a good restaurant and the food is good, seafood is great and fresh. The service is great as well all the servers and bus boys were very nice and helpful. I would have given 4 stars but took one off because while the service was good it was extremely slow. I would absolutely come back for the crab and check out other items on the menu. So if you’re in the Fisherman’s Wharf area you should give this place a try, it really is good!
