Well, the argentine tango class at 6pm weekly on sundays is awesome. After that there are live sets and other music playing so people can dance. The food is OK. Quiche is not really that good, nor is the meat lasagna. The chicken wrap isn’t much to die for. Nor is the grilled cheese with ham, because there is WAY to much ham. Like 5 slices of ham and 1 or 2 slices of cheese. Tango menu is good. Coffee is good, but not great. Other foods are ok, but they charge like 7 bucks for a sandwich. People are nice, but the baristas aren’t really. They don’t seem to care much and they are just plain rude at times. If it weren’t for the tango revolution on sundays, i wouldn’t come and chill here. I’m serious, the only reason why i am giving it 4 stars is for the sunday night tango.

There is always a homeless congregation in front of this place. It is a great place for those that work around here, just not a great place to visit if not in the area. No matter how often they clean the streets, the streets still smell of urine.

North Korean flag, Italian coffee, Argentine tango. Every city needs a place like this. «Every gardener needs a good hoe,» said the barista’s t-shirt. Had I known the scene, I would’ve worn my Kim Jongil t-shirt. So can you photoshop it in for me?

(See pics) Review #1144. Great local spot for a quick espresso post Off the Grid, or on a sunny day after eating at Espetus and a need Pick-me-up, or simply sit inside enjoying some of their classic artwork. All this while you are enjoying some fantastic artisan strong great roast perfect coffee with their wonderful friendly service.

I guess they changed the food menu around which is pretty cool, now I can order an Iceland Lox(Smoked salmon & cream cheese) on a bagel instead of a baugette. or well that’s only when they’re not out of bagels during lunch time. The tuna salad sandwich is pretty good though, but it depends on who makes your sandwiches because for whatever reason, everyone makes them different. Service is kind of just ok– It really used to be better. The food usually takes a while if you don’t mind waiting. Their lattes are alright but the drip coffee is very light… Like another person stated — this place has so much potential to do better.

$ 8. Yes, $ 8. For a sandwich. Not a fancy sandwich, mind you. Turkey, cheese, red peppers, and bread. No side salad, no side anything. No super-friendly service. Just $ 8. For a subpar sandwich. I guess some of you figure you live in San Francisco, so places are supposed to charge you outrageous prices even if the food is crap. I can’t buy in to that. I will never, ever go back to Trieste. And in fact, I’ll be sneaking around looking for ways to put them out of business.

This is pretty much your typical coffeeshop, with beverages, beer, and sandwiches. My sandwich was made quickly and was quite tasty. There isn’t much of an atmosphere at Café Trieste — it’s a pretty generic interior — but I enjoyed the musical act that was playing(no cover!) when I went. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way just to grab coffee or food here, but it’s a perfectly fine location for a musical act or if you happen to be in the neighborhood.

I was in the area for a conference and looked forward to having a coffee here, as I like what they serve in the Oakland location. My iced mocha was delicious and kept me going through the evening. The complaints about a long wait are justified, as we stood in line at the counter for at least 10 minutes before we were able to give our order. I saw only two people working there serving many in the café, and I kept wondering where the other staff could have been. If they would hire more people, one problem here would be solved.

We had a drip coffee and a latte. Both were lackluster and neither drink was finished. My coffee was watery and the latte was jut not very good. The location in North Beach is better.

Great food but the service was inattentive. Only person in the restaurant and the cashier manages to stare at me and never offer help. The cook from the back managed to see me and offer to get whatever I was about to order started. The plus is this place has great gelato and offers free tango classes.

This place constantly disappoints. It has the worst coffee of any place with«café» in the name, and the servers love to chat with the customers, while the line keeps getting longer and longer. Stay away,

The menu on the wall says a large café latte costs $ 3.65, but you charged me $ 4 for some reason. The place was suspiciously reeking of vinegar. Is that what you use to clean the tables? That’s cool and all, but the stench forced me to get a to-go cup for my latte, and I had to pack up and split before I got sick. While both the coffee and the service were fine, there are too many awesome cafes around the city to bother going here again, sowwy!

Ever since my absolutely favorite café in the city, Canvas on 9th& Lincoln(Canvas was really ahead of its time) shut down and was replaced by a Pacific Catch, Café Trieste has become my home away from home. It’s supplied tasty lattes and mochas through my NCLEX, and hosted many rendezvous with my besties throughout the years. As far as I can remember, Café Trieste-SOMA has been a part of many great memories in my life. So I’m biased and admit it. Their lattes are comparable to Blue Bottle but Café Trieste provides free internet! Blue Bottle, yes you got the Gibraltar but have you got free wifi? Service is slow but they take the time to put detail in your lattes and lace each mocha with chocolate on the rim(yum). Staff is always super sweet Their paninis are pretty good and they come with some tasty soups. A nice place to grab lunch especially on a cold rainy day. Live performances in the evening, which I have yet to check out during my 6 year relationship with Café Trieste. I don’t know what it is about it. Perhaps its the slow and chill feel of the whole café but when I’m here, I feel a sense of calm with my laptop or book in front of me. Similar to what it would be like if I were in a local Café in an Italian town. Yet I’m not in an Italian town, just at one of my favorite corners of the city.

My default coffee place right now. Good espresso, great pastries, decent prices, easy transportation. Happy to support locally owned businesses rather than some huge corporate chain.

Caffe Trieste may very well be the most public private space in the city. There’s always something going on here, be it a conservatory string quartet performance, a crocheting club, free massages, or a moped rally. If café food is your cup of tea(they have cups of tea too) then they always have a good assortment of quiches, desserts, fruits, yogurts, and other stuff for you. Caffe Trieste has long been one of my favorite places to rest my legs adn relax my thoughts after a day of SF adventure. The Green Arcade Bookstore(my favorite) is also right across the street

Went here because it said it was the first espressor-y in SF. Ordered the Café Mocha — skim milk… it was okay. Nothing great. Nice place to sit and chill. Free wi-fi too, which is nice.

Let’s make no bones about it: I am an avid drinker and purveyor of cheap, drinkable wine. Who knew Trieste had $ 3.50 glasses of house red or white that actually taste good and are available all day long. I know, since I started drinking them around 3 p.m. yesterday and didn’t stop til 7 to head over to Cav to drink even more. For around $ 17, Dana and I got a pretty strong buzz on and saved a pretty penny! More money for champers across the street. Not usually a day drinker(weekday drinker), I have been in need of liquid relief of late. During less stressful times, this is an awesome place for coffee, soup, and delicious homemade lasagna that taste’s just like Aunt Josephine used to make. Crowd’s a little shady but the baristas and counter staff are super friendly and who can argue with $ 3 wine? Plus, there’s easy free wifi, good people watching, and a strong chance that you will be hit on by a man(or two) who look and smell like they live in the trashcan on the corner. Hey– I’m getting old. I’ll take what I can get.

I come here because the school I go to is in the same building — Out of convenience & because they stay open later than other neighboring food places. However, Café Trieste constantly runs out of many ingredients & does not tell you until they’re halfway done making whatever you ordered. In addition, the customer service is so slow. One time I ordered a caesar salad(minused the chicken on purpose so it’d be faster) & I literally waited for 30 minutes for it. Everything is also a bit overpriced. I don’t know how the coffee is since I don’t drink it. But for food, I wouldn’t recommend coming here unless you have to… like me.

EXCELLENT Irish Coffee. Cute place. Classic. You feel like a local when you go here(and I’m not). 3.5 really.

I’m a fan. Why? Because this place would probably be the only reason to get me down to this part of Market. I usually hit anything in the Mission or North Beach for my caffeine fix to avoid crackheads and bums urinating on the doorsteps. Another reason? Because I am seeing a very sweet person who makes these plans ahead of time and when we were zooming away, he mentioned that Caffe Trieste was open late. Caffe Trieste was basically empty other than three other patrons and the live band at the end of the large establishment. The counter is long and welcoming. The dessert display was almost empty, but my eyes alighted on some sort of wonderful concoction that involved apples, custard… a torte? I requested a scoop of vanilla gelato. My dessert disappeared faster than my extra hot Breve Latte. My date had a slice of a raspberry torte of sorts and a hot cup of tea. Our barista was funny and kept up the small talk as we waited for our order. In addition, another star because he gave me a heaping portion of the gelato and my torte slice was large too. There are many seats and tables, in addition to the long bench seat flanking the right side of the establishment. I appreciate this, because it draws the eye down to the very end, where the band was playing. A brass set of saxophone, trumpet, electric bass, bass and a drummer. The mix tonight was like a jam session. But the rhythm kept my foot tapping underneath the table and the trumpet player kept on making these faces: I was most pleasantly amused. Slightly too loud, since most of our conversation was being done mouth to ear, but at least it was live. I’d be interested in seeing what their latin/tango revolution night would have sounded like. In addition to the hot drinks, typical café menu and desserts, they also have wifi and enough tables to make the most ardent laptop user happy. I’m happy that my date is someone who has acknowledged my inclination towards a good breve latte and does not fear to assist in that search late in the evenings.
