Super disappointing breakfast on our last day in SF — had been expecting magnificent based on Mark Bittman review — table wasn’t ready, service was bad and, sadly, food wasn’t good(as In poached eggs were hard boiled). Not sure what went wrong — all I can say was at least rhey didn’t ask us to pay.

Ridiculously overpriced and underwhelming. Went for brunch. They opened late — some disorganisation in the kitchen or some such. Ordered a ‘steak and eggs’ dish and watched chef personally prepare very streaky and overdone scrambled eggs, then plated with lukewarm, previously overcooked(albeit well seasoned) steak, under-dressed and under-seasoned salad on top. For $ 30. My latte was good but not $ 6.50 good. I would give them one more star if everything was half the cost. Have been here many times over there years but never again — there’s better places to spend your money.

It’s a chic place with with great modern atmosphere. What separate them from the most of the restaurant in the ferry building are their great food and affordable price! If you are there for Sunday brunch BLBEIGNETS is the one item on the menu you don’t want to miss! The Pizze are always great on their dinner menu and the cannoli is their go to dessert choice in the house!

I’d heard so much about this place that it had built up a bit of a mystique. But … it fell right from grace when we were seated by the door — we had a reservation — and saw the menu — $ 24 for an egg breakfast and $ 6 for a cup of tea. Not. Not for a local at least. when a snail crawled off my plate i showed it to the waiter — who took one dish off of our bill. still with only one dish and tea the bill was what we expected to pay for 2 breakfasts. definitely strange place. I felt we got the cold shoulder because we didn’t order drinks with brunch — i don’t know the whole experience felt overly precious and annoying.

We initially bypassed this restaurant as we thought it was a wine bar. We stopped in for dinner with our children. The food was exceptional. The cool, subdued vibe was the perfect haven after the sensory barrage of walking through the wharf. It was a relief to find food –real food– made by people who cared a great deal about food. No line cooks racing to throw together plate after plate! I am now willing and happy to pay more for this luxury; chefs studiously and carefully crafting delicious, healthy dishes that nourish and make my body well.

Love this restaurant ! This service was superb! Very friendly and fun. The food, Wow! I had their pizza margarita, I believe it’s called Lola Siempre pizza on the menu. Beautifully baked crust and simple but delicious toppings. Every thing was fresh. My dining companion had the burrata cheese with fresh bread. It spreads on the bread like butter. The view is wonderful, overlooks the Bay Bridge. I will return for sure.

This place is a hidden gem inside the Ferry Building. Unpretentious, elegant and friendly. They’ve expanded from a small less exposure space to this new bigger, hip and fun venue. Came here for a Friday happy hour at 4:00pm. The bar was almost packed. At 6:30pm, three cocktails and a slice of lemon meringue pie later, the place has gotten very busy. Cocktails were well mixed and delicious. My friend had two French 75 and a Manhattan. He was very pleased with both. Obviously, he is a cognac kind of guy so he stuck with French 75. I had two pink pearl(vodka based) and a margarita. Both were very good. The salt used to coat the rim of the glass was mixed with a little cayenne powder which gave it a little salt and spicy flavor. A very unique twist to the old and classic margarita cocktail. I loved it! The lemon meringue was heavenly. The meringue itself tasted like a light and fluffy marshmallow toasted on top. It was creamy but light and not too sweet. The lemon pie was perfect. Not sweet, not tangy — perfect lemon flavor.

We have been on the hunt for good European style drinking chocolate and had read about the hot chocolate at Boulettes. It was definitely thicker than most of the other hot chocolates we had tried which was exactly what we were looking for. It was not overly rich or thick but nice and creamy. You do end up with a film on top if left for awhile. My daughter loved the Almond Granola and the Citrus Salad was delicious. The prices were high but to be expected at the Ferry Building!

I’m bumping up my rating because there is something deeply GOOD about this place. Good, in the– you know — San Francisco karmic sense. I crawled over one day, after(not being metaphoric here) crawling under my desk at work and feeling miserable. «Just me,» I said to the hostess. Her warm smile said, «Just you? Little you? That’s enough.» And then they led me to the place that made the most sense: the bar. Blame January or other things, but I’m not drinking these days. Still, at the bar, I was warmly greeted, and even had a little conversation with the host there about my crappy day. He was emphatic! In San Francisco! In the Financial District! Two human interactions in a row with true care. and then he poured me a glass of bubbly rose and I stayed for a while, munching happily on another $ 20 entrée, but enjoying such a warm glow that I didn’t want to leave. This isn’t about just being showy, and catchy, and clever. They fed me. They nourished me. I’m better now.

Perfectly nice and comfortable. A nice and mostly quiet place to stop and get breakfast in the midst of all the Ferry Building madness. On the plus side, you can make a reservation for breakfast, and the atmosphere is very elegant and relaxed at the same time. The servers are very friendly and attentive. The food itself is quite good. On the negative side, the prices seem a little steep for what it is(fancy breakfast). I had a bowl of their porridge(what is basically a fancy oatmeal) for $ 10, and we shared a large pot of drip coffee(about 3 cups worth) for $ 12. I understand that this is supposed to be a high-end experience, but it mostly just feels punitive. The other annoyance was that I originally wanted to order the smoked salmon dish($ 16), but they were out of smoked salmon. I mean, this was a Saturday morning, and we were some of the first customers in the door… it felt like someone forgot to do their job.

Lovely place for breakfast especially on a weekday when the ferry building isn’t mobbed. The place has an amazing open ambience with fruits and giant buddy’s hands in front of the kitchen area. With a cozy but elegant feel. I had the poached eggs with lentil — tasted very farm to table — a lot better than the greens restaurant experience that I had this past weekend. The poached egg is perfectly cooked. The lentil has just the right texture — quite a filling dish to my surprise. The freshly squeezed orange juice was also quite balanced, not overly sweet or sour. The French press coffee and cappuccino are also solid. A fabulous place for business breakfast during the week. The tables are quite few with two large ones being communal tables and a couple of 2-seat tables. One still has privacy during the weekday. But if you want ultimate privacy, this is not it.

I very honestly just wanted scrambled eggs for breakfast, and not the kind that I can make at home(and so expertly, may I add). I wanted to know what $ 18 scrambled eggs tasted like, and thankfully I have a sweet boyfriend who doesn’t reject my sometimes outrageous dining requests. The menu changes every day so I didn’t know exactly what I was going to order going in, but I figured since scrambled eggs were even a HIGHLIGHT of this establishment, they must be the best eggs on the planet. YOU UnilocalERSHAVEFAILEDME. These eggs weren’t cooked low and slow to creamy perfection like my eggtastic fantasies. Instead, they were even closer to diner style… a dense slab that was reminiscent of my childhood before I had the guts to tell my parents that their eggs were boring. Yes, they were THAT mundane. My favorite part about the eggs were the pieces of the ricotta cheese on the side. I was just moody every step of the way. It took awhile to get anyone’s attention so that we could order. We had toast to start(~$ 7), which was good because you can’t be a dining establishment and fuck up bread. It just doesn’t work like that. But my #1 pet peeve anywhere is when the butter isn’t room temperature. Why make my life harder with your hard butter? I’m just being prissy at this point, but at «French» restaurants, I like my butter sprinkled with some fleur de sel. But they didn’t have fleur de sel, so the waiter brought me a salt grinder. Okay whatever, at least the apricot jam was good. My boyfriend got the cassoulet, frankly because nothing really jumped out at him on the menu and there were some things that were unjustifyingly overpriced(*cough cough* $ 32 chowder). It was actually pretty good and really filling because it came with three different types of meat. But for $ 28, it better be damn good. The meal ended on a strange note because as my bf’s card laid on the check, the waiter came by and said«May I?» in a very Geoffrey from Fresh Prince kind of tone, if you catch my drift. It was awkward, but I bet he’s a nice guy. I like the concept of Boulettes Larder with its communal tables, rustic interior, and farm fresh ingredients, but I was very disappointed. I will say that I watched the bartenders make drinks from fresh juices and I will be back for that, but the food was nothing special. I’m probably going to make breakfast at home for awhile now.

Limited options: Mediterranean salad was ok, hen leg dish was polenta, tiny leg, broccoli rabe and piperade all jumbled together in an oily mass with no taste of any aspect… even the oil… and at $ 26.00 not cheap. I had the 3 sorbet dessert and all served together in a tumbler on top of each other. There were 3 different flavors and they all tasted the same… just sweet. By the way the hen leg was the only actual entrée so ya think it should have been perfect. Very noisy restaurant when full. We were sitting next to the pizza oven and an employee must have banged this big metal spatula about 20 times on the surface of the oven. Another employee came over and pointed to us at our table and he kept on banging. That was ungracious.

I have been coming here for over 10 years, and I’ve never seen two owners who show the level of care and thought into the entire restaurant. The food is and has been well ahead of its time. As the ‘farm fresh’ movement has been chugging along lately, these guys were doing so now for the better part of a decade. The staff is incredibly knowledgable and well trained, despite what I see in some ratings on here from typical Unilocalers who think a place like Sweet Maple or Zazzis is more than simple comfort food. The décor and open kitchen make you feel like you’re in France. The ferry building view cannot be beat. The food: always thoughtful, unique, and nothing in the plate was out in without purpose. They change the menu daily so to talk dishes doesn’t do much, but the beignets… second to none.

Highlights: yogurt with fresh fruit and basil seeds. Homemade yogurt was delicious. Creamy, tart, and slightly sweet. Seafood risotto was savory and tasty. The caviar on top paired well with the risotto. Outdoor patio seating was great for people watching.

I’m from Denver but if I find myself in San Francisco again, I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to returning to Boulettes Larder. We got an outdoor table for a late lunch and got to catch the hustle and bustle of the Farmers’ Market going on right now to the restaurant’s patio. I could’ve sworn I saw pizza on their lunch menu online, but it was nowhere to found once we actually got there and I’m not going to lie, I was disappointed. I ended up with the Eastern Mediterranean Salad and it was really delicious but definitely on the small side and especially for $ 18! That’s kind of insane for a vegetarian lunch salad, if you ask me. Service, atmosphere and food were all good, just be prepared for that price tag.

After 10 years of coming here, I must bid it goodbye. This was my go-to place whenever I had visitors in town or wanted to take someone out to a special birthday lunch. I’ve chosen this place as my own birthday lunch many years and contemplated having them do my wedding dinner. It had the ambiance, consistent food and consistent service. When they opened bouli bar, I tried it, and it was yummy too. Alas, I just went again today because my mom was in town. The food was okay(maybe the food culture in SF has changed so boulettes no longer feels as special? you can find food of their quality and ilk quite easily these days), but more importantly, the service was terrible. When we arrived for our reservation, there was no hostess at the front. There was a party waiting in front of us who had been told by the hostess that their table was being set up. A server ended up seating them at a table without confirming that it was for them. We were finally greeted by the hostess and placed at a 2-top, when we were 3 people. It ended up being an unpleasant spot(cause where I was sitting was not a real spot, it was a walkway for servers), so we asked to be moved outside. This happened promptly. After we were in our new spot, it took another 20 minutes for anyone to come by. A server finally came by, I couldn’t tell if apathy was just her style or if she was super hungover. Either way, our order was taken, the food came out promptly, and at least that was all right. The menu is too pricey for this level of service. When you’re pay $ 30/plate for brunch, you want to feel taken care of, or at the very least, you want to know that they know you’re there. That’s how Boulettes Larder used to be, but it is not anymore. I’m not sure if they have been unable to find good management for their expanded service, but at any rate, with all of the other wonderful restaurants in SF, I will not be going back here again. Sadness! It used to be so good!

Same results as many others that have posted here. Got a table… waited 10 minutes for a server. server never showed up. politely asked the hostess to find a server. still no server… Got up and left… I can’t comment about the quality of the food but the menu selection was extremely limited and the portions looked very small from what I could see from the other customers that somehow magically were able to navigate the process of placing an order and getting their food. Pass this place up and don’t feel bad about it.

I’ve been meaning to eat at Boulettes Larder and finally made it today without too much of an effort. My boyfriend and our dog take nice long walks when we’re in town so yes, we went to Boulettes über casual with our workout clothes and requested for an outdoor table. It is a 15 minute walk from our home. The Food The food was incredible and presented in a simple menu that screams cozy, delicious and you’re going to love every bite. It did not disappoint. I had the poached eggs with curry and the yogurt which was tangy on top and gradually sweetens as you dive deeper into the glass it was served in. The yogurt was light yet creamy topped with sweet raspberries and fruit compote. For the first time ever we tried the espresso tonic. A coffee mixed drink just about to hit the scene(found in Koppi in Helsinborg, Sweden, Box Kite in NYC and Stumptown. My boyfriend had the fruit bowl and bread plate. Both we’re absolutely yummy! The Service(this is why am only giving it 4 stars) Prompt seating with very polite servers. A little bit off from the cozy and warm personality that their brand exudes. Maybe it was off because we were locals and not dressed to the nines on an over 80 degree weather type of Sunday. It also took three requests from us before they brought water for our cute and well behaved pooch!

This beautiful spot has maybe the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had. No joke. They were actually scrambled perfectly. Do you know how hard it is to find that? I do. Trust me. It’s hard. We hate eggs that are too dry, & eggs that are too wet. Am I right? These were soft & tender, w just the right firmness. Positively succulent. When was the last time you could say that about your scrambled eggs? The very definition of an exhibition kitchen, this space is a true treat for all your culinary senses. Rustic & intimate, it’s kind of like being in an open dining room in someone’s house. Someone very stylish & cool. Unfortunately, they’re only open by day. So to remedy that, they opened a dinner venue next door; Bouli Bar. The next morning you find yourself hungry at the ferry building, you should come in, sit yourself down at the gorgeous & ginormous farm table, & order yourself some breakfast. You will be so glad that you did. I can recommend the scrambled eggs.

Flew into SF, checked into our hotel, and walked over to the Ferry Building and was looking for a place to eat. We decided on Boulettes Larder which is basically at the far south end of the Ferry Building. It’s a very small place with a number of tables. We got an extra long table towards the kitchen and shared the table with another party. It’s pretty modern with lower wooden tables with stools. Underneath the tables is hooks so you can hang your purses and backpacks. Very cool ambience. We started off and shared the seafood salad. It had shrimp, calamari, green olives, with cabbage over a white sauce. It was really good. Fresh shrimp. Fresh calamari. Fresh olives. Do I have to say anymore. Fresh. Fresh. Fresh. It all came together with that white sauce. Man was that good. After our appetizer, we had the LoLa Sempre pizza which was almost like a margarita pizza, Musa pizza with Turkish spiced lamb, and Alsce pizza with pancetta. All the pizzas were fabulous. The crust was so good. Nice and crispy with a little chew but had a slight sweetness to it. I thought all three were really good but my favorite was the Alsce with pancetta. Out of this world. The Musa was a little spicy and had a nice kick to it and the LoLa was a great margarita pizza. The only downfall is they give you six slices per pizza. For dessert, we tried the Beignets which was like donut holes with homemade sugar. They gave us about six to eight. It was so good and warm. Inside was so moist. Loved it. The service was really good. They had small water cups but different servers kept our cups filled. Took a little bit to bring our food out but it was well worth it. Great food, good service, and an interesting ambience. The only downfall is the cost. Our bill came out to be over $ 100 for lunch. Little pricey but well worth it. If I’m ever in that area I wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

After standing around playing the part of ghost for a while, I approached one of the many staff members that seemed to be unoccupied, yet altogether unhelpful. Once I spoke with her, she said, just a few moments. Ok, no problem. A 4 top opened up inside, and I thought we could sit there, but, «that’s reserved for a group of 6» I was told. So, we were put outside and said group of 6 never materialized. The food came and while it was quite good, the service basically ruined the experience(as others have said, at these price points, service should not be an issue). Everyone was aloof and standoffish. So, if you do feel the need to make it rain, in return for some thinly veiled contempt for existing while you enjoy your salmon scrambled eggs you are in luck! P. S.TYBG!
