Walking up to this hotel was a little iffy. Had to walk by a slew of homeless, but they didn’t mess with us. It was me and two other girls too. When we got to the door(around 4pm) it was locked, but there was someone in the lobby to open it. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. They showed us our room to make sure it was okay. We were on the second floor and were not allowed to take the elevator. So don’t try or you will be reprimanded. Its one of those cool/old school elevators so we wanted to try it out. Eh. The room had a twin and a double. We were on the side with a view of Jones street. Across the way is a Phở place, apartment building, and a parking garage. The noise level wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be, but I did sleep with earplugs. They helped a lot! Our room had a hole in the wall, all the paint was peeling, only a tub with a toilet, the sink was out in the sleeping area… it generally felt really clean though. I used the shared shower once, it was clean except for the black mold covering the ceiling. I just pretended it wasn’t there. The location is perfect. We were blocks away from the Muni and Union Square. Plenty of fun bars in the area. I never felt unsafe… Even when we got back at 2:30am, the door opener guy was really nice. I would stay here again. The price and the location are perfect. The staff is awesome. If you are looking for just a place to sleep that’s near stuff… its all good.

I booked online for two days at . I checked in at 11pm and out at 2 am. The description was misleading for the customer like myself(lacking of experience of booking hotel online). In short, I wouldn’t recommend the hotel for anyone. Even though, the price and location are their selling point, their service, cleanliness, etc are below lowest standard. * hobo style«security guy» * A room that smells like rotten shellfish * A «shared bath room» that smells like ammonia. * The manager welcome the customer with Bluetooth on his ear(talking with wife/lover) and installing iTunes on business PC.

My wife and I just stayed here. I felt I had to write a review after seeing some that gave it a bad wrap. So first I’ll start with what I didn’t like. I felt like this place was in the heart of the ghetto. My wife was a little nervous walking around the elements there. she’s not used to that type of environment. I would say this is it for the bad stuff. The hotel reminds me of old time San Francisco. Maybe the 70’s or 80’s. This place doesn’t have the new upgrades of the fancy hotels but we didn’t mind since we weren’t going to be in the room often enough to care. The room didn’t have a bathroom or shower. It’s a shared bathroom and shared shower with the rest of the floor. Not exactly like when you went to camp when you were a kid but still, not really a big deal. This place is close to Market street and shopping. Close to the Market and Hyde or Powell and Hyde trolly,(i can’t remember) Close to the Bart and other public transportation. Only a few blocks from Pearls Deluxe hamburgers which is a must try if you don’t already know about Pearles. Everyone in the hotel is very friendly and nice. The owners are always available for chit chat. All in all I think i’d stay here again now that i know my way around SF. Thanks Roger and your family for making us feel at home.
