Disappointed, will not be back. They were out of most of the dumpling dishes that I wanted to try. It was early in the dinner service and I was surprised that they didn’t have their signature dumpling dishes that were touted all over their Unilocal page. Well you live and learn… but this was a let down.

Same review for this sister property as their one on Alemany. This is what I wrote on their sister restaurants review… Where have I been? I’ve seen this place for years… drove by thinking that this place was a rip-off Chinese restaurant for people who only eat sweet-N-sour pork and hot-N-sour soup type of place. Until one day my friend keeps telling me that he goes here a lot and that it is open till 2am??? I asked if he lived near by and he said no… he goes here because the food is really good??? WOW… I said I must try(as my friend is also a Chinese restaurant owner. So came here and gave them a shot… wow…was I impressed! Weird spot for a restaurant at first as the location is a stand alone little hut on the corner of Alemany… just weird. Dumplings — Good… not some dumplings that I can’t get anywhere else but just good. Intestine, pork blood pot — FAVE dish! This isn’t even on their online menu, Spicy eggplant — Must have for eggplant lovers! Corn soup — Awesomeness! They also deliver! Their sister property on Irving Street in the Sunset is just as good.

I came here with my husband for dinner and I cant stop thinking about the three flavors dumplings. So delicious. The green onion pancake was also amazing and I gobbled it down. We finished with the Beef Noodle Soup which was very tasty. My only complaint is the meat was rather tough. We were also sad that they didn’t serve any beer. I will definitely be craving those dumplings :)

I am surprised about the negative reviews on this place. Maybe people were looking for a fancy P.F. Chang’s(Americanized Chinese food) or something?! Which is totally fine if that’s what you’re looking for, but go there instead! Come here for good Chinese food. Come here if you don’t necessarily care about glam and glitz and ambiance and all that stuff. I will simply state that one should come here to get a fix of great tasting Chinese food. And trust me, Chinese food basically runs through my bloodstream right now. Leftovers are the best! Here are some winners: Beijing beef pancake(#55) Boiled seafood with vegetable in warm pot(#28) Cashew chicken(#107) The beef pancake is really good! They have a bunch of other ones. They have an onion one for you vegetarians :) My favorite is #28, this is seafood soup. It is a little pricey(I think almost 12.00), but you get 2 containers(we order to go) and it’s filled with tofu, shrimp, fish, imitation crab, and vermicelli noodles(I have no idea how to translate the actual Chinese word).

The food was average with no real flavors that stood out. Presentation was also non-existent. No standard veggies, cilantro, etc decorating the dishes. No peanuts or cold cucumbers on the table which is standard(free) appetizer at most Beijing places. Our rice came in a big bowl instead of individual rice bowls(was it because my guests were white?) Why am I complaining about this fact? Because if we got four bowls of rice, it would of been much more rice for everyone and we were charged the same. Other guests got heaping bowls of rice. Two of those bowls would of equalled what we got for four people. The spicy beef tendon I ordered as a app was so bland and salty(from a pre-mixed bottle, I’m sure) I simply pushed it away after one bite. Don’t get me wrong. This place is in the middle of a residential area. I didn’t expect magic, but I did expect some flavor. Go there and get some dumplings and wings only if you happen to be in the Outer Sunset with a craving for some«asian» food. Never go out of your way to eat here.

Eating at Beijing Restaurant was exciting for me, because the menu has various Northern Chinese dishes that I loved as a child growing up in Taiwan but almost never see on this side of the Pacific. * Three flavor dumplings Yum! * Chicken + corn soup I could make this at home by dumping a can of corn in water and stirring in a few eggs. There was barely any chicken. I wouldn’t pay for it again. * Veggie pancake(jiu cai he zi) Delicious. The form factor was a bit different from the empanada-like jiu cai he zi I used to eat as a kid, but the flavors were spot on. * Beijing special sauce noodles(zha jiang mien) The noodles were wonderfully chewy. The sauce was a bit lacking, and the sauce to noodle ratio was a bit low. * Flour balls(mien ge da) with beef The beef was a bit fatty, and the vegetables were probably from a canned or frozen package of peas and carrots. However, the flour balls were yummy. Most dishes ranged from $ 7 — $ 9. Interestingly, we actually had to ask for chopsticks instead of forks. Bonus: Free parking next to the restaurant.(EDIT: I accidentally posted the review under the Sunset location, but I actually ate at the Outer Mission location.)

You know how people stereotype Blacks for loving their fried chicken? Well, that distinction SHOULD also go for Chinese(as well as Koreans & Japanese). Just come here and try their glazed General chicken wings. Trust me, fried chicken ain’t no joke to Asians. I really don’t want to hype this place too much, because I’d hate to see a 40-minute wait like at Mission Chinese or Kingdom of Dumpling, but as far as Chinese food goes, this spot is the real deal Holyfield, PLUS, they deliver for free.99, yadig?

This place is tasty tasty tasty. Fennel(with pork) dumplings Chinese burger(as written on the menu) General chicken wings The fennel dumplings has a really unique and light refreshing taste. We ate them without any dipping sauces and liked it that way. The Chinese burger has a bit of a spicy kick to it, the pork is flavorful and I am a sucker for cilantro. All of which is tucked into a pan-fried flat bread. Winner. If you’re into crunchy, slightly spicy, semi-sweet, glazed out chicken wings, then this is the dish for you. The ginger bits on these wings are a really nice touch. I couldn’t have asked more from chicken wings. The playing cards underneath the glass table top is also awesome to look at while you eat.

Beijing Restaurant is only the second time I can distinctly remember eating this style of Chinese cuisine in my life. Compared to Cantonese cuisine that I’m accustomed to, it seems most other Chinese regional cooking uses more spices and natural seasoning/flavoring and has a lighter impact on my system, all of which I can appreciate and enjoy thoroughly. I didn’t dine in but from a quick glance, I was impressed with the restaurant’s pleasant setting and ambience. The place had at most six two-person tables and maybe a couple four seaters. Once I opened my takeout container of Cumin Lamb, I immediately detected the cumin flavor and the aroma wafting from the onions and green, red and yellow bell peppers, followed by the unique but subtle scent of lamb. I typically don’t choose lamb if my preferred meats are available but Beijing Restaurant successfully converted me. Can’t wait to try this again! Having no reference to compare, all I can comment is that the Jing Dong Meat Pancake was delicious with a pork and jive or green onion filling and separable layers of fried carbs. I guess all is well that the pancakes weren’t too flaky – even though the layers were on the verge of becoming sticky and glutinous – since the contrary would indicate they use a lot of fatty oil or animal lard in preparing the dough. Overall, their food left a good impression on me(4.5 stars). A small container of chili sauce, soy sauce, forks and napkins were conveniently included with my takeout. Unfortunately, unfortunate their prices are a bit pricey(no competition on the same block); otherwise, I’d consider giving them more business.

Though we would give it a try since it was 4 stars. We were extremely disappointed with the food and the service was okay considering 2 to cover for seating of no more than 50 if completely full. Small mom and pop restaurant hidden in the middle of a residentail district… be prepared to search for parking. The sauteed pork liver dish was suppose to be spicy… all I tasted was oyster sauce and it was drowning in sauce. I had to add hot sauce just to give it a kick… the waiter said it was spicy(that’s why I ordered it). The steamed house special baozi lacked seasoning and the skin was as thick as a chai sui bow. Imagine tasting cardboard. It was like biting into a meatless bow because you couldn’t tell there was meat unless you looked. The mui shui pork was sweet… too heavy with the sugar. Nothing else to say except presentation was !@#$%%$#@. In conclusion… would I go back? NO!!!

This mom and pop restaurant is fast becoming one of our all time favorite restaurant, my husband and I love the food here. Especially since he used to be a chef and he is a very picky eater. The food quality is really high. Love the onion pancake, not to mention the hot and sour soup it’s hot and it’s sour it’s just so delicious on a cold foggy Sunset dist. day, we always order a large one for us when we get take out. We also love the beef stew noodle and dumplings. I believe the noodle is home made, really authentic and tasty. So far we’ve been here at least once a week trying other dishes with different family members and friends they too are now fans. Try it for yourself you would not be disappointed!

Came here with another for the second time this past Saturday for dinner. First of all, the food was delicious! Place was pretty empty(to be fair, we came really early at 5:30pm). We ordered green onion pancakes, a warm pot with fish fillet and preserved veggies, sweet & sour pork ribs, and pork/napa cabbage dumplings. Servings are very generous, and the taste is great! I love their dumplings, which taste hand-made, and the filling is succulent and falls apart – not a chunk of mystery meat like the fillings of frozen dumplings. I grew up in China and have been eating Chinese food my whole life, so I’d say I can judge Chinese food fairly well. I didn’t experience any bad or slow service. Our waiter was a nice guy, kinda quiet and expressionless but pretty typical of all authentic Chinese restaurants. You’re not gonna get waiters who sustain light-bulb smiles and wag their tails at your jokes in order to get a better tip. All our entrees came very fast and together – under 10 minutes. Plus, the waiter recommended these delicious little Chinese yogurt drinks. :) Yumm-o!

How many times have you seen old Chinese man spits right on a side walk anywhere on Stockton, Clement, Geary and Irving Street. I have seen many. You’ll hear a sound of his burp as a warning, out of no where and you slowly turn… Bam! You’ll see the old man just spit. It’s such a disgusting manner for crying out loud! How can we stop doing the behavior? I haven’t seem any young Chinese man doing that yet. Btw, about the Beijing restaurant, Manner of the waiter was … pretty bad. he is young man. 1st of all. looking at me like like a … I did something bad to him. 2nd of all, no smile. 3rd, he actually said«what you want?» He didn’t even say«Hi» or «Hello» 4th, he sneezed. Often. I think it is not his fault, you can tell by his reaction that he does that to any customer. I am sure that he’ll learn. To me, manner comes 1st when I judge a restaurant. Cover your mouth when you sneeze. Don’t spit on any streets. No more shark fin soup! Is it too much to ask?

When I’m home alone and don’t feel like cooking I like to try random take out chinese to see if I can find hidden gems in the city. Beijing Restaurant is a winner. I have only tried the fried rice, beef w/green onion and chicken double mushroom but all were excellent. I’m even going to venture an opinion that the fried rice is the best I’ve had in SF! And I love fried rice, any new restaurant I go to I order it. I’m sure anyone who lives near goes often. I’m not near but plan on making more trips out to the burbs to eat this food.

Came here for the first time last Friday and thought the food and service was outstanding. Here is what we ordered: Soup with duck/cabbage and tofu(delicious) Peking duck Beijing style — instead of the normal white buns they use these delicate mushu wrappers. it was so delicious and you could keep eating MORE since it wasn’t filling! Highly recommended! Meat Pancakes — Very flavorful but he Onion pancakes were my favorite(must try it!) Stirred Flour Ball with Chicken– reminded me of an asian style gnochi really good but a little more on the bland side Chicken with ground bean sheets — very tasty dish like clear chow fun noodles and shredded chicken Chicken wings — these were my husbands favorite he ate almost the whole plate of them… very very flavorful! Over all most of the dishes we ordered were outstanding! I would highly recommend coming here! Can’t wait to try out the other dishes!

Okay so I came here with my cousin since he said that he’s been to their other location and he liked it. We usually have the same judgement on food so what the heck? Here is what we ordered: — Hot and Sour Soup — House Special Hot Chicken Wings — Jing Dong Meat Pancake — Beijing Noodles with Special Sauce So the soup had a deep and peppery taste. I’d probably rate it at a 3.5. It still lacked something that I’m not quite sure about but I prefer the one at Spices still. The wings were decent but I think they used too much sugar but at the same time it wasn’t that sweet like the ones at San Tung are. After they cooled down, the sauce got really hard. I’d give these a 3. So the pancake looked really good when it came out, which came out last for some reason??? My biggest complaint about these were that they weren’t crispy enough. I think that would have made a big difference in the taste. I thought they were a little bland but my cousin said that he didn’t think so. I rate these a 2.5. So we both think that we got the wrong dish here but we were so confused. We got ended up getting Dan Dan Mein so unless they’re the same thing, the waiter mixed the order up or wrote down the wrong item. The noodles were okay here and the black bean sauce wasn’t that great. I’d rate this one a 2.5 This place would be okay as a go to place if I lived right next to it. Not worth my visit though since we are in SF and there are better options around for around the same price.

Love this restaurant as a nice change of pace from the usual southern chinese spots all over the city. I need help with the menu items though since I only hear the Chinese names, can’t remember them, and didn’t do the english name mapping. Like the original spot too. They really should open a store down in the South Bay. One of the owners says she hears this a lot. I suspect business is really strong and it’s just not a priority at this point given the risks involved. Anyhow, highly recommended.

Was glad to hear that Beijing Restaurant opened an outpost on the west side of the City. I no longer need to drive all the way to the Mission Terrace area just to have Beijing Restaurant’s signature Beijing Noodles with Special Sauce. A preliminary four stars based on a lunch time visit on a quiet and slow Saturday afternoon. I had said noodles, the House Special Steamed Meatballs and the Beijing Beef Pancake. Both the noodles(jah jiang mein) and the meat pancake taste just as good as they do at the original location. This was my first time having the steamed meatballs. The English description doesn’t do it justice as it’s more of a braised meatball, similar to the Shanghainese Lion Head Meatballs in taste and appearance. I recommend trying this place dining-in first, rather than delivery. They do deliver, but this stuff should be eaten immediately out of the kitchen. I also recommend that you add the sauce to your noodles yourself. Adjust to taste as it can be quite salty. I look forward to going back for dinner to try some other items and, perhaps, the Peking Duck menu. It’s great to see a legit non-Cantonese Chinese restaurant open up in an area dominated by Cantonese/Chinese-Vietnamese establishments.
