Battle of the Bay Softball

I never review events. I figure, how helpful can it be to review something that has already happened and that will never happen again?
Never say never! This is a successful ongoing event that deserves all the reviews and kudos it gets.
The two lovely organizers devote a great deal of time and effort to researching and securing great parks that are conveniently situated. They also arrange for after-​parties at nearby bars/​pubs for those who wish to continue hanging out.
Henry of Grillaxin (
) provides expert grilling services for whatever we potluckers throw at him… and out of the kindness of his heart, no less. That’s the kind of participation and camaraderie this event inspires. (Still, though, we’ve got to get him a big tip jar… he’s got twin babies to support!)
Don’t be afraid to join even if you don’t know anyone, and even if you don’t play. It’s a guaranteed fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Pretty much my favorite event all summer long! Our last San Francisco game was held at the lovely St. Mary’s Park in Bernal Heights. We scored big with the nice field, nice weather and great turn out. Plus SF won AGAIN! Sucker Free!!!
Props to my partner in this whole deal Megan D, captain of the East Bay side. Without my lovely little partner, none of this would happen and I love working with her to wrangle you Unilocalers.
San Francisco won again, scoring 10 – 5. I am incredibly proud of my team and the hustle it took to bring in the win. These girls and guys have incredible team spirit, especially Ms. Loli and her high kicks.
Thanks to all who brought food. Henry from Grillaxin’ makes the whole event each time. He’s amazing at what he does and we are lucky to have him grilling up your meat. I loved trying out Dan R.‘s Bahn Mi, Scott’s Stromboli and Mike D’s Carnitas. I ate all your chips, dips and drank your beer. I shoved jello shots into all of your hands, as dessert is always better with a little booze in it.
The after party at St. Mary’s was fun, fun, fun… I am looking forward to our next game, 4Loko in Alameda. Hope to see you’s there.

Got to love the Battle of the Bay! Warriors from both the right/​winning side (SF side) and the wrong/​losing side (EB) duking it out for 9 innings on a beautiful SF day, with tons of awesome food and a beer or six and some dogs and some kids and great fun was had by all! A little after party action at the newly remodeled St. Mary’s pub rounded out a beautiful day in a beautiful way!
If you are new and want to come meet some of your fun Unilocaler compatriots, this is a great, chill way to meet new friends and hang out.
