I love the Bar Adagio. The bartenders are friendly and make their drinks on point. Tristan is a GREAT bartender and such a good sport for our drunken antics. Their french fries are TODIEFOR. The aoili that comes with it is exquisite. I want to stick it in a cup and sip it through a straw all day. Okay, maybe not, but it’s really really good! I’m sad to say I don’t remember what the drink I had was called, but it had egg in it — a first for me. Bar Adagio is being renovated at this point, so the drink may not even be on the menu at reopening. I am excited to see how it looks when it’s done! Can’t wait to go back!

As far as hotel bars go Bar Adagio is amazingly a step above the rest. After a night out we decided on one more drink before heading up to our room. We ordered a «God Save the Queen» and another drink that I don’t remember the name of. Both of those drinks were delicious. After sitting and talking with the bartender Tristan and bar manager Frank we decided to stay and continue to enjoy ourselves. I was in the mood for something unique but I knew I wanted a champagne cocktail. I asked the bartender Tristan to create something good for me and let me tell you… The man went above and beyond. I have never has a better cocktail in my entire life. THANKYOU Tristan!!! We were not big fans of the Hotel, but the bar made our stay perfect. Try Bar Adagio you will not be disappointed!!!

Bar Adagio was able to take us on, a party of 10, when our dinner plans at another restaurant fell through… on a Saturday night. The food was great. Nice and low key. I wasn’t very impressed by the limited dessert menu or the«Fudge Cake» that we ended up ordering. In the interest of full disclosure the rest of my party really enjoyed. The service was a little weird but we got all of our food and drink and didn’t get overcharged.

After searching all over SF for the perfect place for our cocktail style wedding rehearsal dinner, my fiancé’ and I decided on the Adagio Bar after a recommendation from a close family friend. We wanted a fun classy open atmosphere(near our Hotel the Clift), great food and drinks… all without breaking the bank! The Adagio delivered! Frank, the general manager for Bar Adagio was a pleasure to work with! Via email he helped me set up everything! I gave him our target budget and he was able to deliver the perfect amount of food and wine for our guests. We used the back seating area, near the wine cellar. It was separated from the other customers and bar by a large curtain, which afforded us a bit of privacy while maintaining the general atmosphere of the Adagio. We chose to have heavy appetizers and wine instead of a formal sit down meal. We ordered: Fall Citrus Calamari Ale Braised Mussels Roasted Shrimp and Peppers Polenta Roulade Artisan Cheeses Pizzetta– 3 cheese and tomato Let me just say that the food was AMAZING! They went above and beyond my expectations!(We had approx. 5 of each) My favorites were the Roasted shrimp and the calamari. The service was also great. Frank made sure that the food was ordered properly and coming out at a good rate. They made sure that we were taken care of without hovering… allowing us space to mingle and enjoy our event. We received SO many compliments for the food and rehearsal site selection from our family and wedding party. In Fact we enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much that the next night most of the wedding party met up there again for a late dinner after the wedding! Thank you so much for everything Frank and Bar Adagio Staff! It was a wonderful stress free start to our wedding festivities!

I went to Bar Adagio in February 2011 for a friend’s birthday party. I only ordered one drink, but at the end of the night my tab was a little over $ 45. Thinking that my roommate had ordered drinks on my tab, I signed and paid. Turned out that my roommate had not, in fact, placed any orders on my tab, so I was overcharged by quite a bit. I called Bar Adagio a few days later and spoke to Frank(I believe he is an assistant manager), who apologized and promised to make the bill right if I brought in my receipt. A few weeks later I stopped by with the receipt. Frank was not there, but I spoke to another manager(I think his name was Brian) and explained the situation. His response was that Frank should not have promised a refund, especially when I had signed the bill. I told him that this seemed pretty unfair given the reasons why I had mistakenly approved the incorrect $ 45 tab. He said that he would have to ask some more higher-ups to approve the refund and, since he was also bartending at the time and did not have the capacity to handle this at the moment, he get one of the hotel staff to take down my information and photocopy the receipt. After half an hour, no one had appeared. I asked Brian(who could see me the entire time that I’d been sitting there waiting) what the deal was and finally, 10 minutes later, someone came to take down my info and photocopy my reciept. I was in Bar Adagio for over 50 minutes from start to finish. Now over six months later, big surprise — no follow-up, no phone call, and of course, no refund. I wanted to give Bar Adagio a good review, because I do like the environment and their food and drinks are decent. Unfortunately their management needs a little bit of polish, and until that happens, I will be up the street at Rye.

While bar-hopping, the rain drives us to the easy access of a clearly marked door… unlike some better-known bars nearby. Busy but not overrun. This is a good neighborhood bar with the trappings of a boutique hotel. You’ll still get heavy pours from a good bartender who’s willing to stay open as long as you’re drinking. I didn’t like my first choice in wine and he offered to swap me out for another without blinking. No impersonal hotel policy was quoted. Now add a couple of flat-screens and comfortable seats at the bar and a few high tables. Then add food from a real kitchen. Fair warning: might be tough to get a taxi coming out of Union Sq and just after the Taylor St route up to Nob Hill, especially during our rainy six months.

Stop 2 of the Mac and Cheese crawl… Ritzy hotel bar. We sat in the back close to the kitchen. This sadly meant that we got a tad neglected by the server. I’d like to believe that he was busy with various duties, and he probably was, but it took a while to get our credit cards run. Anyway, on to the food. We, of course, only got the mac and cheese. I can only assume the cheese was cheddar. It was a deep orange color. The sauce was runny, but in a good way. There was this hint of smoked bacon in the sauce which I found to be killer. The bread crumb topping was deliberate and added a nice texture to the top. The noodles themselves were oversized elbows and held the sauce quite well. This was a fine Mac and Cheese, but it did not reach the same level of deliciousness as our first stop. I would come back here more generally, but only if you can get a seat in the front part of the bar. The back just seems deserted.

Four of us came here on a Saturday night. Not crowded at all. Probably because of the slightly higher cocktail prices, but that’s fine, sometimes you’re willing to pay a bit more for comfort. The place was clean and the bar was well stocked. Air conditioning was a nice plus since it was hot outside. We noticed some staff wandering around so we took a seat. After quite a few minutes we realize nobody is taking orders, apparently the staff were just there to deliver the drinks not take orders. So we stand at the bar until we get the bartenders attention. We give him our order and he gets a frustrated look on his face and and says something like ‘why don’t you have a seat and I’ll run them out to you.’ So we sit… And sit… And watch patrons come in and get drinks ahead of us. After the second group of patrons got their drinks we left. I don’t think the lack of effort was on purpose. This would have been acceptable if the bar was crowded or understaffed, but that was not the case. If I’m in the area, I’d consider giving it another try, but for my first experience…2 stars.

She had lost her shoes and she’d lost her friends. What’s worse is that she also lost her camera and through her liquor soaked view, we were all suspects. Her slurred cries and wobbly pointing, mascara wiped all over her face… and it got worse when she tripped backwards and fell out of the bar and into the lobby. There, she attracted the attention of hotel security. How long did they watch on camera just wondering what would happen next? Well, not like we weren’t doing the same. Aside from the show, great pour on the drinks, and a great vibe. Thinking we’ll stay here at this hotel the next time up. Who knows, maybe I’ll be that girl…

Cute little bar inside the Hotel Adagio. They were playing the Steelers game after the Raider Game/Folsom Street Fare so there were quite a bit of interesting people to look at(enter studs, leather, and missing crotch pants parts). The atmosphere was relaxing and unpretentious. The servers were quick and attentive. The couches for lounging with our party of 8 was comfortable. Full-stock bar, the prices were decent. We shared a couple small plates before heading out to dindin because our vegan friend couldn’t find anything to eat on the menu: FRENCHFRIES: Interesting herb flavor but hot and crisp. SPARERIBSAPPETIZERS: No kidding when they say it’s a small plate. I think there were literally three ribs! But the meat was tender and the BBQ had a good flavor. FRIEDGREENCHILES: This threw us for a loop and we wanted to try it. I thought it would have more kick being it chiles but it was just really small bell peppers to pop in your mouth. They were really good tho and had a good spice to them(but not hot in spice). Late parking right next door(3pm-midnight) for flat fee of $ 8 which is nice ‘cuz the area can be a bit shady.

Stopped in just to check the place out since it’s not too far from all the main activities. It was about 9pm and the bar area in Hotel Adagio was a bit quiet but had good ambiance and cool vibe. A couple tourists were wining and dining but too me it seemed like a good potential starter spot for a small group gathering, or heck, bring a large group and occupy the place with your business. The drink menu was good, prices were average and cool music in the background. The hotel itself seemed very nice and would make a good location for some R&R after a long day of shopping(tourist info).

They shut down at midnight. Period. They have a very well stocked bar with great boutique top shelf brands. The service is slow, but the bartender knows what he’s doing and is very accommodating. Not a great place to get local flavor but still A-OK.

Located in joie de vivre’s Adagio Hotel, near Union Square(but more in the ‘loin), Bar Adagio is a great spot for happy hour; 4p to 7p = ‘Happy Drinks, 5p — 7p = Happy Eats’. Drink specials — special cocktail, select beer, house wine. Food specials — almonds, fries, olives and an eggplant-curry caponata served with warmed flat bread. Their menu offers a charming mix of new American cuisine — i.e. appetizers, meat & cheese plate, salads, pizzettas, mac-n-cheese, prawns, chicken, steak, burgers, and dessert. We enjoyed the eggplant caponata, the mussels-clams-chorizo with two slices of toasted bread(a bit oily, bread made it tasty to sop up the flavors) and the ribs. The ribs were our favorite — fall-off-the-bone, tender, juicy and marinated just right. Ambiance is modern, warm, relaxing and overall a comfortable spot to catch up with company. There is also a dining area in the back, and some lounge couches and chairs in the front. Long bar in the middle with some screens airing sports.

This was fine– my friends and I came here before a play at the ACT, thinking that we could get the $ 5 parking for 5 hours. Well, come early if you want that, because the lot is tiny and there was no space for our car. Regarding the food, the pizza we ordered was a little salty, and in general while the ambiance and décor is nice inside, I think this is a better date place and maybe the food could be a little bit better. The fries were very good though!

Review is just for the bar. Ordered a simple dirty martini. Now, I know the taste of a dirty martini. I know when it’s what I’ve ordered, I know when it is Grey Goose, and I know where there is too much melted ice it. I got an $ 11 watered down martini. I kindly paid and brought it to the bartenders attention, at which point he took it upon himself to disagree with me. He said it was«all Grey Goose». Well, if it was«all Grey Goose» it wouldn’t be a martini now, would it? Just fess up. Your booze is warm, you shook it with chipped ice, and let it sit too long. There was too much water in it. I wasn’t a jerk about it. I drank it. Asked him about it, paid, and left. I went to a diner down the street and got an awesome hamburger elsewhere.

As we were waiting to check out a bar across the street, we stopped into Bar Adagio, which is part of the Hotel Adagio. We ordered drinks– beer and a cucumber gimlet. Gimlets are my fave and although this was supposed to be their house special, it wasn’t great. After being asked a couple too many times, we decided to order a cheese plate to split. The best part was that the description was«Three cheeses served with artisan bread, lavender honey, Marcona almonds & fig jam» and when our waitress brought it she just left. Without utensils. Without telling us what the cheeses were. I asked for utensils. And then I asked what the cheeses were. She didn’t know, which I guess is okay, but then when she went and asked, she still didn’t really know. Hmmm. It was pretty pricey and I would say not worth the value. The décor was nice. :)

I can hardly believe that I am updating my last review already. But this place is really amazing! Yes I ended up here for a third night in a row… I do not think I have ever done that ever, while traveling on the road. I had a red-eye flight and wanted to spend my time in San Francisco and not at the airport. I stopped in for Happy Hour and had a great time. There was a grilled shrimp cocktail for $ 7 bucks that was really good. I also liked them being grilled… usually they are just boiled… the grilled had so much flavor with the seasonings the chef choose. The Cucumber Gimlets are really good and also on the Happy Hour Special for $ 6…I noticed that alot of people were ordering these. The drink menu is cool to look at too… they definately put some thought into putting this together… it does not feel like your typical drinks. I also had a Geary Guzzler which was quite refreshing. Again the Burger is so good… the quality of meat is out of this world… I ordered it Medium Rare and the meat just melted in my mouth. The burger tasted even better then when I had it two days prior to this review. How could that be possible happen because it was out of this world the first time. The bartenders are also really good too. I also saw something that I have never seen another bartender do. He went around the bar and introduced everyone by name to the new bartender that was taking over. Now that is some great customer service. This place just gets it from the staff, to the food and drinks… the décor is also swanky. I also had a chance to speak with the manager Frank again and he is really a nice guy. Knows his customers and says hello to them… he really cares about getting to know everyone and that makes people come back to a bar. Look at Norm… he kept going back to Cheers because everyone knew his name… Bar Adagio could be your Cheers. But do not tell that to David because I think he is the Norm of the Bar… if you drink here during Happy Hour you will meet David… great guy with an amazing history!

I scored a free pass to ACT’s performance of «Clybourne Park» through my girlfriend’s work. The ACT website pointed out Bar Adagio for the parking and dining discount that theater-goers receive, so we stopped by before the show. The service was a bit slow. I ordered a cocktail, and it took like 20 minutes for it to get to our table, and after the appetizer(olive tapenade dip with flatbread) had already arrived. I ordered the pizza with andouille sausage and bell peppers, and my girlfriend had the Adagio burger. The flatbread that came with the appetizers was remarkably similar to the pizza crust. The pizza was extremely hot when I first took the first bite. We debated whether or not Adagio made their own breads, or whether they got them from a bakery, and whether or not there were bakeries around that specialized in supplying restaurants, but we didn’t bother to ask. I liked the pizza, and the house manhattan, and I was remarkably full when we left. The bill was $ 35 for the two of us, and this included a 20% theater-goer discount. It’s a nice little restaurant to stop by on your way to a show. No more, no less.

Came here for post-drink food on friday night. Date had the chicken, I ordered the prawns. The cheese grits under which prawns were served was so delicious! I thought it was mashed potatoes, but took a look at the menu online and found out they were grits. Prawns were delicious(touch pricey @ $ 10 for like… 6 prawns) and chicken was tender and tasty. Waitress Vanessa was also extremely kind and friendly. Top it off with good conversation with the cute elderly couple next to us visiting from Ireland been married 54 years? Priceless. Thank you Bar Adagio.

stopped in for a quick drink. it’s a small bar that is part of the hotel Adagio. They have a several seating areas to choose from and the atmosphere and mood lighting looks great. Bar tender seemed ok. Not much selection of liquor and was extemely disappointed with my rum/coke. This is all i drink so when i tasted their rum i was pretty much done with my drink. Not sure about other drinks but by looking at their wall with liquor selections you can tell they don’t have a large selection to choose from. I would skip this bar and go to another one with a larger selection.
