Anna’s teriyaki was a restaurant on 9th and Mission. It’s easily the most upscale establishment on the block, maybe except the marijuna dispensary around the corner. It’s decorated like a diner but was in fact a Korean restaurant. Actually its menu was so all over the place that it might as well have invented its own category, which I am calling Korean fusion diner for now. We went there every Monday because the daily special was vegetarian bibimbap and was $ 1 less than if you ordered it any other day. Confusingly they used to give us both ketchup and their special bibimbap sauce, both of which were in identical bottles. We’ve learned to distinguish the two by the illegible labels on the bibimbap sauce bottles. Just like we learned its quirks Anna had learned ours as well. We still don’t know if Anna was her name but she and her husband eventually figured out that us cheapskates always ordered bibimbap on Mondays and stopped giving us the menus — over time, also the ketchup. If we ever showed up on any other day they would stare at us as if we didn’t know which day it was. They never gave us spoons though, but real Americans eat with knifes and forks anyway. During the summer their daughter would sometimes show up. Again we have no idea if she’s really Anna’s daughter(or if Anna’s husband was really her husband), but they all spoke Korean to each other so they must have been related, right? The most memorable thing about Anna’s daughter was that she actually gave us spoons once, and exactly once. It’s the thought that counts though. Anyhow Anna would always say«see you next Monday!» to us when we left. So it was a little surprising that when we went there again this Monday, all we saw was an eviction notice. Did Anna said«see you next Monday» last Monday? Well I don’t remember for sure but I will probably never get to hear that again.

I ate here on 5÷4÷2015 and had a burger and fries. It tasted great. Wonderful staff and great service for those on a budget. Sadly I am writing to inform customers that when I was given my change after paying for my meal and that of a friend I paid with a $ 20 bill and was given a $ 10 bill and two ones plus some coins for change. The $ 10 turned out to be counterfeit. I tried to make a purchase with it last night elsewhere and was told by the cashier that it was fake. I called Anna’s this morning to inform them of what happened. I stopped by and the husband used the gold pen to see if it was real and the gold line remained on the money. I asked them to use the pen on another $ 10 bill they had in the cash register and he did and the line remained on the money too. The husband apologized to me and offered me a discount on a future meal. That was cool of him. I contacted law enforcement who advised me to contact the secret service. I’ve sent a letter with the counterfeit money enclosed to the secret service. Customers be careful here pay with exact change or use plastic because there are some dishonest customers scamming this business by paying with counterfeit money that’s getting passed around to unsuspecting customers!

Possibly the worst lunch I’ve ever had. Bland and dirty, the atmosphere was off putting, but since it had such glowing reviews, I braved it. This was a mistake. Bland, processed chicken with store bought teriyaki sauce slapped on it, some steamed rice and a bagged salad with some Kraft thousand island dressing. Wow. The server was nice enough, but nothing could have made up for the tasteless plate I was served.

I have been going to Anna’s Teriyaki since I was a child and have been through 3 different ownerships. The newest owners are a Korean couple who are very friendly and always happy to see me, now that I come in only once every several months. They also added several items on the menu. I remembered the very first time they took ownership from the 2nd owners when the guy had so much trouble flipping the egg in the pan … OK first … the teriyaki sauce has not changed. It had been the same since I was a kid. The chicken and the beef have changed as far as texture and the amount that you get although I still think it’s pretty good. For the price of the food I think you get what you pay for. I grew up in SOMA so I ate here frequently as a kid and have had most of the food on the menu. The shrimp tempura is frozen as is most of the fried stuff. The best is their teriyaki dishes including the delicious beef ribs. You can add anything to your meal to … want bacon to go with your teriyaki? Just ask! The place itself is small, super old, chairs and tables are old. Sometimes the crowd is shotty too but most who come are regulars. If you come with an open mind and just looking to eat good food for a low price, this place does the trick. The only thing I don’t like and despise to this day is that they changed the recipe to the macaroni salad that spanned two ownerships. It must of been the best macaroni salad ever and damn I was pissed and upset when they changed it and to this day I never said a word about it and even if I did I doubt they would change it anyway.

Zero star for the food. I came a few days ago on a cold morning. I wanted something warm for my stomach. So I chose the Ramen. And they used instant noodle as ramen. So there was a little bit of veggie and a package of instant noodle. And I could even tell which instant noodle it was because I have exactly the same one at home. And I bought it from the Chinese supermarket for less a dollar per package. They charged almost six dollars for the same thing. Shame on you. The only two stars are for the service. The owner is very friendly. I will not come back.

Yay! So happy I found this place! I walk by here everyday on my way to work and it is definitely become a solid lunch option. The owner is a very sweet Korean lady and she even serves the water all Korean style, iced in those cute self pour containers. The menu is expansive and has everything from American to Korean food. I opened for the breakfast for lunch option and got the veggie omelette with whole wheat toast and hash browns. The omelette was MASSIVE! Of course my fat ass took my time on my lunch break and ate every single thing on my plate but a normal person would probably have leftovers. My stomach is a black hole. She only gave me two pats of butter and one thing of jam so I had to wave her down for more jam. There are containers of sirarcha at some random tables so you have to look for it if you want it. The bathroom in the back is old and gross but that is to be expected. Excited to come here and try their other options! You can definitely get a solid meal here for under $ 10 and it seems like she has a ton of regulars!

I asked anna to refill my cup. I thought she would treat guests how they’re supposed to be treated. I was wrong. She denied me a free refill ONWATER!!! What the eff! She had the audacity to ignore me after i put my cup on her neck. I was disgusted. around 10 minutes later, she finally refiled my cup, but i am still disappointed. You want to know why??? She gave me 6 effin Ice cubes!!! WHO only enjoys 6 ice cubes when they ask for ICE water??? Anna, If you’re reading this, its too late to have me as a customer again. Never, will I ever, give you another penny of my money. I must say though, the famous banana bread was just delicious! I loved the chocolate chip cookies in there. Also, when me and my friend Jordan sat down, there were 3 lighters in my seat. How are you going to leave LIGHTERs in the mothaEffin seat. I was just disappointed in general. It also smelled like booty.
