Wow, I really love the concept of this bar and resto. My friends had been telling me for years what wonderful wine by the glass and tasting options this place has and it does. We got the custom Happy Hour Flights for a measely $ 10 and you end up with 3 full glasses for $ 10. We also made good use of the Happy Hour appetizers and ended up with the flat bread for only $ 5. We will be back. Now, I normally love a good trip down R&B 70’s Memory Lane. I LOVE me some Al Green. However, when you loudly pump same and it’s all about breaking up music, it brings the place down. This is a 5 star place, down one star only for the bumming me out music. ~Ms. Ali

If you’re a fan of wine and cheese, Amelie is the place to be.(If you’re not, make sure to stay away from here — I don’t think we could be friends anyways). This place typically gets pretty crowded, but you can make reservations ahead of time. Their food never disappoints(the burrata! the goat cheese covered in pistachios!!) and their flights are on point. Normal flight is $ 15 — but $ 10 at happy hour! OH — and their happy hour is 7 days a week from 5 – 7 — score!

I came here with a friend. We had reservations, ordered food, and multiple rounds of drinks, but when it got crowded — they told us we had to go, because there was a wait for a table. I’m not inclined to support bad customer service. Sometimes, maintaining the integrity of a business is more important than a revolving door of customers. Food and drinks were good though. Extra star for that.

I’m always at The Pour House down the street, but thought I’d give Amelie a try. The Atmosphere was very groovy and it felt like I was in Europe because every bartender was a tall dark and handsome European. Prices were reasonable, but the pours were a little weak. Overall great spot.

Under different circumstances, perhaps we would’ve enjoyed it more. I liked that they had live music. The artist who was performing that day was really nice. So…my husband and I came here with our toddler. Lol. I know… but we didn’t realize it was a bar/lounge. We were craving French food and it was the closest place open that day. Anyway, our waiter was super nice. I ordered a quiche lorraine. It was okay. I’ve had much better before! My husband didn’t like his meal.(Can’t remember the name but something with salmon). They don’t have a full menu if that’s what you’re looking for. Other than that the vibe is cool for singles looking to mingle! Order bread! It was delicious!

Fifteen dollars for a wine flight? Bonjour Amélie where have you been all my life?! A Parisian wine bar on the heart of Polk St. This place is kind of amazing. Upon entry, I noticed the beautiful aesthetic(cozy, dimly lit with red light, romantic). The notes above the bar also added a lovely, eclectic touch. Bonus points for the hot french bartenders. Not only were they super attentive but the cute accents did not hurt. Food/Drank: *Oven warm pistachio goat cheese ball with honey, onions, jam. At $ 9.00 you MUST get this. It is so delicious, think the best cheese ball you’ve ever had in your life. *Le plateau parfait(apero). Three different cheeses, 5 cold cut meats, french baguette. NOM. I split this with one other girl for dinner and we basically inhaled it. The perfect charcuterie plate! *Justin Timberlake Wine Flight. A lil white, a lil pink, a lil red. You can thank me later. Next time I need to try out the HH(5:30pm-7:00pm) wine flights for 10 dollars! Holla!

Loved this French wine and cheese spot on Polk St! This place had been on my bookmarks for a while, but I never made it in time for Happy Hour. This past Friday, I was able to come in for their awesome Happy Hour deal and we stayed for much more! We arrived around 6PM on Friday and the place was packed. We luckily snagged the last table for 2. I would suggest making a reservation beforehand because this place does get packed. We obviously each ordered a wine flight at the Happy Hour rate — $ 10 for 3 generous tastings of wine. What I love about this place is that you can pick any wines off their list to try in your flight. This does lead to hard times for those who are indecisive, but they do have a couple of pre-set flights if you’re not in the mood to flip through the menu multiple times. For my first flight, I was adventurous and had the patience to pick 3 wines off the menu. I got one white and 2 reds, all 3 were great! My bf got the South African wine flight which he loved as well! We finished our wines with just enough time to get a second flight at the happy hour rate! For the second round, I ended up picking the Justin Timberlake flight which was an interesting mix of wines! Definitely recommend it! For food, we ordered the burrata, the warm goat cheese pistachio ball, and the mushroom flatbread. My favorites were the burrata and the flatbread. The goat cheese was a little too pistachio heavy for my liking. They also do have a happy hour deal on the flatbread which makes it even more worth it! Overall, I really enjoyed this place and would come back again! The ambience was a little too crowded for me(especially for a wine bar-type setting); the waiters did seem a bit frazzled at times trying to get orders in but other than that, it was a great experience!

My favorite girls-night happy hour spot in SF. The wine is exotic, diverse, and affordable. Get the flight. Literally any flight. The snack deals are also affordable and delicious– try pickled vegetables, a cheese plate, or olive plates. What a happy place.

Oh, Amélie how I love thee… let me count the ways. I have been coming to Amélie off and on for years, but recently my fiancé and I began making a wonderful habit of it. Tamy and the whole team is fabulous. I can sit at the bar and describe a wine I want to taste and Tamy gets it right every time. He is so sweet and attentive. Even when it is super busy, he makes it seem like you are the only people there. When we were planning our engagement party, I thought, what better place?! We began chatting with Germain and decided to go for it. Germain was wonderful through the entire planning process. When it came to the day of the event, Germain, Tamy and the whole team were FABULOUS. From back of house to front of house, they exceeded our expectations. Our friends and family had such a great time. The Amélie team is truly fantastic. The food and wine were delicious, the service was superb! It is such a special place. GOHERE, JUSTGO. You will not be disappointed. PS: some of my fav apps ~ Baked Bleu d ‘Auvergne stuffed dates wrapped prosciutto(soooo good!) ~ Le plateau parfait(apero) *This has everything you are dreaming of to go with your wine ~ Oven warm pistachio goat cheese ball with honey, onions and jam ~ Vanilla bean and rosemary crème brulé(phenomenal way to top of the evening, make sure to get a glass of sparkling to go with it) PPS. New Years is super fun here too! Their party has great wine, food, music, and people!

This place may seem great on the surface, but after going a few times, I won’t ever go back. First, I ordered two flights. Every single glass of the six were undrinkable. I asked if it had gone bad, or if it was the correct glass, which they smugly assured me it was. Second, the staff is incredibly rude. This is obviously inherent with French people, but this is just over the top. I stood there at the bar waiting to order, made eye contact with the tender, but he simply ignored me and kept his conversation with two women. Last, the mostly female crowd here is embarrassing to even be around. Trashy older women with bad face lifts will certainly give you some sort of attitude. Don’t be offended though, they are all divorced or still single because of that attitude. You will feel better about yourself after leaving, because every person here is likely having a miserable drunken and smug life.

Such an awesome place for happy hour! We ordered everything on the happy hour menu which includes a giant cheese&meat platter $ 20, wine flight of your choice(3 glasses for $ 10) and the mushroom flatbread $ 5. The bartender was very helpful since I needed help picking the wines for my flight off of the large selection of wines on the menu. Would definitely come back again if I’m around the area!

Great place for a first date. Get there on the early side so you can find a seat at the bar. A good alternative is seating in the back if you order snacks or dinner. I have never felt pressure to order a lot of food so don’t hesitate to get a table if you need to rest your feet. They have yummy cheeses to go with your wine. Some of the severs are really nice. Others have attitude but it isn’t all that off putting– sort of blends with the cool spot. ;-) They never rush you which is nice.

Can’t say enough good things about Amelie it is definitely one of a kind. Yes it’s all men bartending staff and yes they all speak French but why not? This has been my «regular» wine spot since I moved here 4 years ago. I am friends with everyone who works here and they are magnifique! They also have a location in NYC by NYU with similar menu and style but just a little larger. Also try their restaurant in Oakland, Michel. Vive France!

I originally came to this wine bar in hopes that it was themed after one of my favorite French films titled Amelie. While I was bummed to find that this was not the case(in fact it’s like french/music themed with records and rock band related drink items), I am still thrilled that I can get my vino on in walking distance from my place. This place is great for dinner or small group setting. It’s got dim red lighting and french music playing in the background. I have only been for happy hour(5−7pm) but the wine flights are only $ 10 and you can pick any wine served by the glass to be part of your flight. And idk if it was just the bartender I have had every time but they always pour ample samples :] Between the three tastes it was almost close to 2 glasses. Oh and the charcuterie board is only $ 20 during happy hour which is 3 cheeses and like 6 meats with dips/olives/pickles and a basket of bread. To top it off the waiter has a dreamy French accent and is very knowledgable about their extensive wine list. Just tell him your preferred tastes– smooth, dry, spicy, sweet, etc.- and he’ll help pick your flight. Definitely my go to for girls night or an apéritif.

Amelie, I won’t hold it against you that my French ex-bf was a non-commital, unemotional waste of 4.5 years of my life.(Am I bitter? No!!!) Je t’aime! I love everything about you! I love your staff(Tres sexy!!!)…I love your food(Tres bien!), I love your atmosphere(Tres chic!), I love your wine menu(Tres interessant!!!)…okay, that is the extent of my French… Seriously, I really love my neighborhood upscale wine-bar(except on Thurs nights, when it is standing room only… oh, sf, you are a city of alcoholics frothing at the mouth to turn up on a Thursday…). This is a romantic spot for first dates and couples(but for me, mostly girl-dates with my bikini sister, Miss Chang)… What I love: beaucannon cab franc, French blends, esp Bordeaux… and the charcuterie plates(Le plate parfait est vraiment parfait!!!) Reader, don’t hold it against me that I am a crazy Asian lady who slapped her French ex with a dish sponge… and I won’t hold it against you if you love this place… Xoxo Hiromi

Went to Amelie last night(Saturday night). Amelie transports you to a swanky wine bar in Europe. They had a DJ playing really good music and the crowd was well dressed enjoying their wine. We got a bottle of Pinot Noir which was great. The prices are pretty good too. Bottles range starting $ 26. They have reds, whites and sparkling wines like Cava. They also have a late night food menu that includes — Pizza — Cheese Board — charcuterie I ordered the Pizza of the day which was caramelized onion with 3 cheeses and was yummy ! Perfect spot if you want to have an easy Saturday night with some friend and have a good conversation.

This place is our go to for wine and cheese/meat plates. Pretty good deal for the wooden board assortment of cheese and meat. They also have happy your from 5 – 7 everyday with $ 10 flights of wine. Good for date night or small gathering with friends. Usually there’s no wait(if you have a small party of 2 or 4 you can usually sneak in somewhere). Ambiance is nice

One of my favorite spots in SF! It’s quaint, cute, relatively quiet and incredibly welcoming. The staff here is mostly French and happy to give suggestions on wine and authentic French dishes(which is a huge plus for me). Seating is cozy and readily available. This is the perfect place to come to enjoy good conversations — either with a friend or date — and sip rosé. I also love their wine flight selection.

Great food and service! My boyfriend and I came for dinner on a Thursday night and had a really great experience. I made a reservation on OpenTable beforehand, which I definitely recommend because the place was PACKED at 8pm. It is a good informal place for friends to catch up. It gets pretty loud so you do have to yell over your food sometimes but I still enjoyed it. Ravioli w/Proscuitto — 3⁄5 stars. For something costing $ 17, I did not think it was worth the money. It was not as cheesy as I would have liked and was a bit bland. The ravioli was also cooked too soft to my preference. Mushroom flatbread — 5⁄5 stars. So delicious and full of flavor! Proscuitto wrapped dates — 4⁄5 stars. Super tasty but the dates were quite small. Quiche — 5⁄5 stars. Perfect crust, super satisfying and delicious. Only $ 11 and quite filling(also comes with side salad)

Went in on a Wednesday and was surprised to see how busy the place was. Apparently you can make reservation for the back are where they serve food, we sort of hovered between two tables in the open seating area, there is a handy rail that is big enough for glasses/bottle. We got lucky and were moved to a table in the back after just ordering. They have a great wine list, as with more wine bars it would be great if they offered a more varied selection by the glass rather than only by the bottle. Between two of us, we ordered 4 different glasses and shared. They also do a great HH wine flight. All in all I would definitely go back again, perhaps earlier in order to do HH and get a table in the bar area.

I adore this place! Loved the romantic atmosphere/décor of the place– a good spot for a romantic date night with your significant other. My friend and I ordered a glass of the Argentina Malbec, and one of the Cabs– I appreciated the big wine glasses for proper breathing of the wine, and the amount you’ll get for one glass. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the wines. Service was great! Not too pushy and very friendly staff, I believe ours had a French accent, so that’s a plus since it fits well with the theme of the bar. It was my first time here, but I’ll definitely come again for their delicious-looking appetizers and $ 10 happy hour flight deal!

LOLOLOLOL I have such a love-hate relationship with this place. This is my go-to for a girls night out or celebration dinner(w girls. I’ve gone with guys too and it just doesn’t feel the same) I can never manage to read that whole poster while waiting for the bathroom but last night, I’m standing in line, about two glasses of malbec deep, while waiting for the bathroom and this woman behind me asks me if I know that story so I tell her, no. THEN, the bathroom door finally opens and out comes this couple looking disheveled. in their FIFTIES. I was just blown away and had to share that. Anyway, back to Amelie, wonderful joint, great wine, lovely deal on the flight esp the champagne. I love their desserts more than anything. The pistachio goat cheese w honey is what makes my heart beat. Their crème brûlée is ONPOINT and has that kick of rosemary and vanilla bean that makes you just love and enjoy life. Their chocolate mousse is equally BANGIN’ and you couple that with good wine. I mean, it’s just divine. I do not, however, recommend their escargot. Cheers.

We were search for a wine bar around Polk and here we are — in Amélie ! This place is packed and tiny, not the most trendy wine bar I have been but the vibe is great on a Saturday night . The selection is pretty good and what makes it great is the service: we had a group of six and after waiting for a while(as it is a popular spot and we wanted a table), we got seated in the corner guided by a nice server. He immediately arranged extra chairs and let everyone face each other — definitely easier to talk and really thoughtful of him! It is just make sense to have bottle instead of glasses for a group of 6. We decided to have the red wine around the table but really didn’t know where to start — remember that they have great selections? A lot of options sometimes make it tough. We explained to the server what we looked for and he brought back 2 glasses of sample. We ended up liking both and had these 2 great bottles — he made great recommendations! We had a great time and the bill was around 15 bucks per person.

Delightful wine bar with French flair! The red and black décor is sophisticated and makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a different world off Polk St. The happy hour 5−7pm is $ 10 for a flight of any three wines on the menu. Went with two reds one white though would probably go bubbly for the last next time. Fair warning: pours are generous :) Doesn’t look like it, but you feel it fast. Luckily happy hour also covers the plateau apero which is basically a gourmet cheese /meat platter that comes with bread! All I want is more of that brie and apricot jam YUM.

Returned for a Sunday-FunDay happy hour with friends this weekend to be met by some inspiring live music, exceptional service and some truly inspired wine flights(the South African-themed one was by far my favorite). While undoubtedly still packed to the gills most afternoons and evenings, if you can get here quickly after your 9 – 5, or leave early, go. Especially if you are more than two people. For three people or four, we order one mushroom flatbread and one or two of the Plateau apero($ 20 for a charcuterie platter and three cheeses of your choosing), and two rounds of the wine flights each. Then we skip dinner entirely.

Love this place for a HH. Have been for dinner as well, but wouldn’t go again for dinner. We love to come here during their HH to get a wine flight and/or glass of wine and enjoy it alongside a small plate or appetizer. We especially love the burrata plate, and their mushroom flatbread is really tasty and light. Get there early when they open though — it gets packed shortly after opening and it can be impossible to find a seat well-into happy hour.
