Let me start off by saying that I am a avid and seasoned Spa addict and well… this particular one doesn’t even deserve this 1 star unfortunately. It might had had its«hey-day» back then but that’s about it… back then as in the 50’s/60’s. I was desperate to book a mani/pedi/brow wax and I’m usually easy to please but from the moment I found the entrance which is behind Grand Hyatt in SF, going down the brick steps, I was immediately TURNEDOFF by the wonderful smell of puke on the side… about 2 or 3 of them, then walking further down to look for the signs for the salon and stopped dead in my tracks to try to read it because it was covered in grafitti. Fine, I still wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt so I walked in and…(my mouth open in disbelief…)HOLYMACARONI! AREYOUSERIOUS!!! Empty, old, damp with a mildewy smell with even no attempt to cover it up with some lysol or something. And did I mention it was EMPTY… nobody there except the receptionist who was courteous but I was already shaking my head. This is a salon/spa?! Featured in ! Ambiance — no music, I can hear her make phone calls and reprimanding the technician since she was running late. Definitely not a place of serenity and peace. Since my technician was running a bit late so she assured me she’s coming. Waited for about 20 minutes, asked to use their restroom… which by the way… OMG, reaked of urine smell that I didn’t even sit on the seat. Waited for another few minutes while walking around the salon and noticed, old magazine subscriptions from a year ago, hair and skin care products displayed were completely outdated…(see my pics I’ve uploaded) and finally stumbled upon their list of services/prices. OMG! SERIOUSLY?! While services offered were varied, prices were RIDICULOUSLYHIGH for the place and they way it was presented. That was the last draw… I just wanted to get out of there so I graciously apologized and walked out. Never again will I step in there not unless it goes under MAJOR renovations and possibly new management. YIKES!

The WORST experience ever! Do not go to this salon! Anniversary surprise for my husband was the worst. Where do I start? The salon is not posh, its run down, the restroom smelled foul like urine, they didn’t offer robes or flipflops, appt times were messed up to do 2 massages, 2 facials and a shave for husband ALL at the same time! I set appts a month ahead of time & we were still asked 3 X’s if we were sure we had made facial appts! Husbands massage left him bruised from elbows being dug into his back, neck and legs, my massage was a joke, no soft lighting, no calming music, just people opening the door & talking in hallway, NOTRELAXING I’m unsure that she was even licensed! no massage ettiquette of keeping you covered, pulled the sheets down to my thighs exposed breasts while I was freezing with nothing on. You sign no forms, are not asked about injuries, the facialist asked no questions on skin type, what products you use, if anything breaks you out, nothing! Some guy sat there with no shoes on & the woman who did my massge sat hovering at the desk for a tip while I was trying to check out. Even the check out was a joke as the prices listed on the website totaled 450.00 and she charged me 500.00 — Dont be fooled!

I really dislike leaving bad reviews, but considering the price being charged for the product, this had to be done. So, the breakdown — I went to get a shave with Sal. Customer service 4-stars. Great ambiance, very accommodating. Great experience. Minus 1 star for hands smelling like cigarette smoke. I would suggest you use a drop of eucalyptus oil or something similar on the hot towel to mask that stench. Shave — zero stars, or less if I could give less. My skin was on fire and the shave was not even close. I was walking back to my hotel thinking«I can’t wait to shave this stubble off». My Mach 3 did a better job taking care of the stubble than Sal’s razor, granted my skin was still on fire, but at least it was smooth after I was done with it. The final rating of 1 star is for the product being sold — a shave. It doesn’t matter if you have amazing customer experience, which I did, the product you sell at the end of the day, in this case, a shave, is what will keep people coming back, and unfortunately your product is terrible.

Wowzers. Talk about over-priced! If you’re in the mood for $ 45+ men’s haircut, I guess this place is decent… After I popped my eyeballs back into their socket upon reading the price list, I requested a simple neck cleanup. $ 15. I needed it done so I ponied up the cash. The barber spent about five minutes with an electric shaver on the back of my neck, brushed on some talcum, and that was that. No straight razor in sight. Hey, I realize I’m an out-of-towner, but a cleanup in Manhattan where I live is $ 8 and they trim around your ears and use a straight razor on the back of your neck. How disappointing! PS — the atmosphere in this place is nice. Very cool underground exposed brick.

So if any of you have ever had a barefoot massage, you probably haven’t had the traditional Vietnamese barefoot massage with oil that Linda has been doing for many years at St. Moritz. For those of you who haven’t had a barefoot massage — See Linda at St. Moritz. It’s an amazing experience. It’s curious to me why there isn’t more of this type of barefoot oil massage since it’s better than any hand massage I’ve had. St. Moritz also has many other services that are really worth checking out. So next time your shopping in Union Square, take a walk around the corner from the Levi’s store and treat yourself to a little slice of heaven!

Old school class and charm combined with the most current spa, beauty and barber services delivered with luxury and style. What more could you ask for? You just need to meet Natalie and her team to see how sweet, caring can committed they are to making your experience wonderful. I was treated to such pampering and special little extra touches that made me feel so special and cared for. I left looking and feeling so glamorous I can’t wait to go back. Just wish I could go more often.
