I’m not sure why Adolph Gasser only gets three stars. They are definitely an old school store, but don’t be fooled they know their digital stuff too. I hadn’t been there in years and needed to put together a «prosumer» video studio for a small retail client of mine(bearing in mind that I have shot six figure budget commercials for many years.) We are using a professional director of photography and editor, but can’t afford to rent pro gear — and we don’t need to since this will be seen mostly online. The team at Gasser advised me against a GoPro(definitely not right because we are not shooting sports or much outdoors) and came up with a great camera solution — and they also knew that manufacturer was having a major rebate this month. I knew what I wanted for audio and they confirmed that choice as well as recommending tripod and a few other things. The service was friendly, knowledgable and they definitely did what they could to meet the prices on the big box online retailers. Oh, and one more thing — given they are downtown they have a large parking lot that I am amazed hasn’t been taken over by a high rise apartment building to house yet more engineers from the neighboring tech firms. I had forgotten about Adolph Gasser, but I am glad I remembered — don’t discount them because they’ve been around a long time and still have reel to reel tape machines and the 16 mm Bell & Howell projector you watched movies on in high school. They get it.
