Okay why ive driven by this place several times and never tried it out was the worst idea of my life. Amazing sandwiches and there is even a build your own option! They even sell those big deli pickles! Basically if you’re looking for a local deli in the Santee area come here!

We went in here for a quick bite after working out and we found this place to be surprisingly very tasty and fresh. I had the Baja chicken sandwich and it was very good! You can ask for almost any of the Dudley’s breads to be made with your sandwich that are available. My favorite is the Sheepherders bread, they ran out so the Jalapeño Cheese bread is a good substitute as well. –Service — 5-stars. –Quality — 5-stars. –Selection — 4-stars. –Staff — 5-stars. –Taste — 5-stars. You cannot leave there without having to bring home a loaf so add that to your bill and enjoy your sandwich. Small place but it packs a home-run in the taste department. I would go back again, it was that tasty!

Came in here for the first time on Friday to have lunch. I order the Mediterranean Minestrone soup & half sandwich. The soup was amazing & the sourdough bread my sandwich came on was fresh. The service is friendly & place is clean. My only complaint is they are little pricey for a deli.

Most legit sandwich I’ve had in Santee! Love driving to Julian, but being able to get the same product here in Santee is amazing! Now they are getting a license to serve alcohol, hope that comes with Julian Hard Cider!

«Fresh and Tasty Sandwiches« My wife and I visited Dudley’s Deli in Santee, California yesterday and were pleasantly surprised. The Ruben and California Roast Beef sandwiches we had were very tasty and had a lot of meat on them. Both employees were very nice and answered all of our questions about the sandwiches honestly.

I have already Unilocaled about Dudley’s before, I thought i would share my newest experience. I went into Dudleys and was greeted instantly by the friendly staff. I was unsure what to get and the staff kindly walked me thru the menu and explained the menu to me and told me about the sandwich of the month. The Mediterranean. After going back in forth with the many awesome choices. I finally decided give the sandwich of the month a try. I decided to make it a combo. I got a whole sandwich, chips and a fountain drink for $ 12.00 something. I also decided to get some of the famous dudley’s Bread that sells for $ 4.95 and 2 bags of the fruit bars that are $ 5.95. In my option. You can go to McDonalds and get a combo meal for the same price and it tastes like garbage. They use the best quality ingredients and meat in town. You can’t beat the selection of sandwiches and baked goods. I love that I have the option to change the bread if I want to or the cheese and at NO extra cost. The portion sizes are HUGE my husband couldn’t finish it all and we asked for a Togo box and the gal kindly wrapped it up and bagged it for us. We were really enjoying the calmness and warmth atmosphere of the resturant. You can tell the staff is properly trained in customer service. They are so friendly and nice. Best service I have received in years. That’s why I just love this place. The restaurant is very bright and warm and the background music is just that, Background music. They play the best music as well. It’s nice to be able to sit and talk to your family at the table and be able to hear one another and not have to tell across the table. They were offering free samples of the fruit bars during our visit as well. The entire resturant was very clean. It’s nice to feel like you are eating in a place that takes pride in the restaurant. It’s very nice to see family owned businesses in our community. I support them fully and prefer to spend my money there, rather then the local shops that taste aweful and have horrible customer service and are dirty. You can also like them on Facebook and receive a free cookie. Ya can’t go wrong there. Hook line and sinker. Tee hee hee.:) Thank you Dudley’s Deli for once again making our visit incredible. I very much recommend everyone come here and all the time. You will be very satisfied and will be wanting more daily.

Cute little deli next to Chuze fitness. I was in the area and decided to try this place for the first time. I got the TBA, turkey bacon and avocado on jalapeño cheddar bread with cucumbers. YUMYUM! I loved the bread and the sandwich overall tasted very fresh! The cool thing about this deli is you can see them making the sandwich so there is no funny business behind the counter haha! If your in the santee area give this place a shot!

TBA + jalapeño + onion + pepper jack + extra lettuce + asiago cheese I got the whole sandwich itself for $ 10. I could’ve been full with just half but ate the whole thing since it was so good. The honey mustard inside the sandwich was a nice sweet accent to it. It’s worth trying out.

Great big huge sandwiches! Bread is a beautiful thing especially when it comes from Dudleys. However, I skipped the bread today and went low carb and got a Cobb salad. A half salad and small drink came to 8.95. Service was pretty quick which is good because I had a time crunch. There was good leafy green lettuce instead of iceberg. Not sure what the dressing was but I think it was ranch that they gave me. I would have preferred blue cheese but it was fine. I wasn’t over full and was hungry a few hours later.

So I finally decided to pick up a couple sandwiches from Dudley’s, and while not disappointed, I have mixed feelings. I had previously read the reviews stating that the prices here were slightly higher than most sandwich places, and they are justified. I paid $ 20 for 1.5 sandwiches and 2 full size pickles. The pickles were found in a bucket in the middle of the shop, Dietz and Watson brand, very cool. I was disappointed that the barrel wasn’t refrigerated, as our pickles were room temperature, and therefore, inedible until I popped them in my own fridge at home and waited a couple… which means I couldn’t enjoy them with my sandwich. I ordered a specialty menu item, California roast beef. Very delicious! They serve it on jalapeño cheese bread with pepper cheese, bacon, and avocado. They toast the sandwich in a press, and I was very pleased with the amount of roast beef and the quality of the meat itself. I always appreciate an ample amount of crunch to condiment ratio, and Dudley’s got it right with the Cali roast beef. My wife ordered a half Italian sandwich. It was extremely flavorful, and she really liked the garlic spread. The pepperoni they use is top notch! They serve it with plenty of onions and also toast the bread. Of course the bread is amazing! The oil and vinegar topping brings out the flavor of the meat, leaving a tangy savory aftermath on your palette. For the most part, I was satisfied. I felt portion size could be increased for the amount of money they charge. I like the friendliness of the service, and the quiet environment inside the restaurant, but they really need to increase their expediency of getting finished product into the hands of hungry customers. Not a huge problem, though, when you consider the quality of the product that you receive, even if you have to wait for it! I will return for a sandwich sometime soon. The first visit somewhere isn’t always a full indication of the service or the product that they can provide.

Never thought about going to this place for a sandwich. It just seem to me that just because they have good bread does not make them a sandwich shop. I was definitely wrong! I read all the reviews from everyone and it seemed that everyone loved the TBA, so naturally I had to give it a try. The TBA is an excellent sandwich that’s loaded with turkey and they definitely do not skimp on the avocado like most sandwich shops do. The TBA is a definite go to sandwich that you do NOT have to custom order. Just say«I’ll have the TBA» and they will take it from there.

Good sandwiches on big thick bread. Too expensive for what you get. The quality of the meats and breads is top notch. The bread seems too big for the sandwich and falls apart easily. It’s a deli so they have all the usual sandwich options. I have had the turkey with bacon and avocado on wheat. Good but not worth the price. Add chips and a drink and you’re paying over ten dollars lunch. That’s too steep for me and will keep me from going often. I was ok paying those prices when I drove up to Julian and Dudleys was a novelty /special treat. Not so much when it’s in a strip mall near Home Depot.

I’ve been here twice now and have really enjoyed the sandwiches I’ve had. The TBA is great. I change the cheese from Swiss to Provolone and get no honey mustard. I didn’t care for the tuna melt because they use something sweet, either sweet pickles or sweet relish in the tuna salad and I’m more a dill type of girl. If you do like sweet stuff, I’m sure you’d love the tuna. The make-your-own sandwich was excellent(of course, I created it :) The roast beef was really good and the bread was of course, really good. Main reasons why 4 stars and not 5 are because all of my sandwiches(from different days) had black edges on the lettuce. The owner let me know that it’s because the lettuce wilts when they put the sandwich on the press. To avoid that he said we can ask for the lettuce to be put on after the sandwich is pressed. The price($ 9) seems a little steep for just a sandwich. The ingredients seem fresh, so maybe that’s what we’re paying for. I do have to say, they put a good amount of meat on the sandwiches, no 3 tiny slices like at Subway.

Disclosure. I’ve never physical stepped inside Dudleys. I’ve only had take out that was picked up for me. So this review is solely based on the sandwiches. The name and reputation of Dudleys is what brought my co-workers here. I’ve had the California roast beef and the pastrami reuben. Both are stand up sandwiches. The California roast beef was tender. Came with bacon, avo, pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, a garlic/cilantro mayo. The best part was the bread… jalapeño cheddar bread. Yup, I said it. It doesn’t get much better than that. The pastrami was traditional with sauerkraut, Swiss, thousand island and served on deli rye. Traditional but delicious. They also let you build your own sandwich. But why would I with over 20 different sandwiches to choose from. I’d probably ruin my sandwich. Great place to stop for a sammich if in the area.

Dudley’s Deli is fantastic! Dudley’s bread and wonderful sandwiches are no longer 1 ½ hours away. Enjoy right here in Santee! We enjoyed their Veggie Sandwich and their Italian Sandwich. Both were pressed in a panini press, adding a nice, toasty crunch to the bread. The sandwiches were stacked and all the ingredients were super fresh. At noon on Saturday we had our sandwiches in less than 10 minutes from ordering. The lady who made our sandwich was very friendly and obliging with the customizations we requested for our meals. Be sure to grab a loaf of their bread on your way out!

Service is slow. Like REALLY slow. You can put your order in, walk across the street to the bank, open a checking account, then close the account out, and head back to the deli and maybe your sandwich will be ready. On the other hand, the sandwiches are REALLY good. Full of flavor. Prefect size. So, this one is a toss up.

Came for lunch with my siblings and I wasn’t impressed. The cashier acted like she hated her job. She wasn’t friendly, inviting, or helpful in selecting options. I got a half sandwich & soup. Overall, sandwiches were good but the clam chowder was soooooo sour I think it was a week old. I had others try it & we stopped eating it in case we got sick. With the soup and customer service, I wouldn’t go back or recommend this location.

The lettuce was wilted and brown around the edges in our 2 sandwiches on my most recent visit, at the time of my 3rd check-in. We had the TBA and the roast beef on jalapeño cheese bread. The wilted lettuce was a big turn-off, but since the sandwiches were to go, we were stuck with them. Since our sandwiches were great prior to this visit, I’m giving them 3 stars. The info below is for a previous visit, when the lettuce was fresh: Second visit and ordered three sammies to go, to share. I was starving and attempted to devour half of 3 sandwiches. Couldn’t finish but I made a dent! Ma fav was the TBA, which surprised me. Turkey, bacon, avocado, Swiss cheese & lettuce on yummy fresh Western Wheat bread, with mayo and honey mustard. Perfect! The California roast beef was good, but next time I’d sub a different cheese for the pepper jack. It had roast beef, avocado, bacon, pepper jack, jalapeños, & lettuce on jalapeño cheddar bread with garlic cilantro mayo. The Italian was my least fav, with too much meat and not enough veggies for my taste. Salami, ham, pepperoni, pepperoncini, provolone, oil and vinegar on sourdough. The Lil’ Wrangler for kids for $ 4.95 seemed as big as an adult sandwich. I’ve been avoiding Dudley’s since the wilted lettuce experience on the 3rd visit. I may give them another try someday…

Sandwiches start with bread, and Dudley’s is San Diego’s most beloved. No more trips to Santa Isabel are required, the deli has nearly all the varieties of the main outpost delivered daily. Came by for lunch and chose the Baja: deli sliced chicken, pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, chipotle sauce, mayo, on jalapeño cheddar bread. Good flavor and not overly spicy on phenomenal bread. Worth every bit of $ 7.95. If you are in the area and looking for a sandwich, I would suggest forgoing the fast food options and giving this spot a whirl. In my opinion the sandwiches are a step above the ever popular Antonelli’s in El Cajon.

Dudley’s Bakery has been in San Diego since 1963, and now they are not only providing their baked goods in Santee,( ) but also their delicious deli sandwiches as well. Using Dietz & Watsons’ meats, the quality of their sandwiches are not to disappoint. In the case of the #7TBA or turkey, bacon, avocado on their spectacular 100% western wheat bread speckled with flax and sunflower seeds and topped with rolled oats; and arriving with some gentle grill marks, well it was a sandwich, that I had to contend with.( ) The sandwich was seductively layered from the bread, to a thick layer of flavorful turkey, to a creamy well seasoned fresh avocado spread made in house, to a chewy and light crunchy bacon, to a nutty aged Swiss cheese, and finally to a light appropriate spread of mayo.( ) All these ingredients sung harmoniously and were very pleasing to the palate. The light panini type grill marks, they applied to the bread, not only warmed the sandwich, but gave the bread an easy to handle composition and nice texture. Well done. They carry a variety breads, pies, cookies, and of course make some dam good sandwiches. The employees were down to earth friendly.
