Love this place, it never has crazy lines, always stocked up, and real nice people! The prices are a bit crazy high but I’ve been going to this Safeway for almost 10+ years since I was a kid! I recommend this Safeway to the whole Santa Rosa area! Just don’t make this Safeway a shit way with long lines! Lol

I stopped by here the other night, after 10PM to get some sodas and chips. I was surprised to find they had no chip isle so when I asked an associate told me the chips were on the end caps and asked me what I was looking for. I named the brand and stated they were like a pop-corn chip. He told me popcorn was on the end of isle 6. I specified it’s a chip made with popcorn rather than popcorn, but he just said«Yeah, isle 6.» I went there and didn’t really find what I was looking for, but did find a comparable product(different brand) at the end of a totally different isle. I’m not sure what that was about, and I didn’t get a super helpful vibe from the employees I encountered, but overall the visit was okay. I found my sodas easily and I was very happy to see they had limited edition Oreos. Not all stores carry those. I’d stop here again if I was in the neighborhood and needed something.

the lady that Anthony was talking about in comments below yeah ive had an eye opening experience with her too. She is outrageous and will start yelling and causing a scene if you point a mistake out to her or just tell her anything she doesn’t want to hear. I don’t know how she is even still able to keep her job. If I ever see her I know to walk the other way seriously just save yourself the trouble and use the self check out.

This is the worst Safeway ever, one of the clerks actually screamed at me that I was wrong about a mistake the cashier had made on my order, I showed her the receipt and she said NOYOUAREWRONG, I’m not kidding, then she said I can’t take this I’m calling the Manager, the manager shows up he looks like he is 19 and I explain why I was over charged show him my receipt, he even goes and gets the coupons from the cashier that I used to verify everything, and comes back and we go over it together and he says you are correct. I told him that the clerk is totally out of control the way she screamed at me in front of customers who were waiting behind me, they were all in disbelief, and had to wait for all of this to get settled. They actually said no problem we want you to get whats coming to you especially after the way she treated you. The manager did refund all the problem items and said he would talk to the clerk about her attitude, Then the icing on the cake, as soon as I was walking to leave the store the cashier ran over to the Manager and yelled show me where I was wrong, I turned around and said to her, I told you you were wrong, and she said you can leave the store now, right in front of the Manager. UNREAL, this stores turnover is pathetic, all since Albertsons bought them they have taken a huge nose dive. They used to ask you when you were in the aisles can I help you find something, not anymore, that hasn’t happened for years, way before Albertsons got involved. I used to love Safeway as I lived in Hawaii for 25 years and they were great. So sad what has happened to them. I now only shop there if I’m forced to

I shop here once a week so I’m getting to know the people who work here. They’re all very helpful and kind. Every time I ask for help to find an item, I found someone who knew exactly where the item was and even walked me to the appropriate aisle.

It’s hard to write a review for Safeway since I worked for them for over 5 years. I know too much… I do like this store.

OK, in all fairness, I used to shop at the Safeway in San Mateo, which is larger and offers a much better selection of produce, deli stuff and more. But now I live in Bennett Valley, and my local Safeway is the one on Yulupa. It’s OK. Staff is very helpful, and the product selection is standard for these kind of stores. But I’m here to talk about chicken. I used to brag about this Safeway’s roasted chickens. They were better than Costco,‘s better than Whole Foods(far better…) They were amazing! In fact, it amazed me that a chain store could turn out the juicy, savory, perfectly roasted birds that they did. Even now I salivate just thinking about that. Slurrrrrrp! But somewhere in the last few months, the chicken crossed the road. It went from amazing to meh. That’s a word that my teenage son taught me. It means mediocre, unmemorable. The chicken chef and the artful preparation he or she used to know is gone. What’s left is chickens that are typically over-cooked, somewhat dry and less tasty. I’m in mourning, and I just want my tasty Safeway chicken back. Are you listening, Mr. Safeway?

Our nearest Safeway and glad it’s here in Bennett Valley. All of my experiences with the staff have been great. The meat department really works with me and is reasonably priced for big meat/seafood orders for my BBQ’s. Good selection of organic vegetables and they are trying to introduce more local products like the nearby Oliver’s.

My husband just got back from the Safeway Bakery on Yulupa. He said he had to wait 10 minutes while the worker in the bakery was frosting a cake. When he asked to be helped she«sighed» and said, «What do you want.» That is inappropriate behavior for a service provider. Next she brought out the cake we ordered. It was done so poorly. It had«Happy Birthday and his name written so poorly that my 10 year old granddaughter who has horrible handwriting could have done it better. Very poor service and poor quality of work.

This is absolutely the best Safeway. When my daughter comes from Lafayette and we go in here, she can’t believe how much better it is than her store. The people are very friendly and the manager is incredible! He has helped us on two occasions with the most impressive customer service and follow through.

I don’t care what anyone else says! This Safeway will always be my favorite. The manager came through to me in a time of need when I really needed help. They other employees went out of their way to help my dog and I when we had an emergency. God bless this Safeway!

Went to Safeway at 10:15pm and there were an amazing number of shoppers in the store. Only had one checker open, though, so had to really wait. And there were plenty of Safeway workers around. What’s up with that?

I remember shopping at Safeway about 15 years ago – seemed like nicer folks, better food selection, and a more«normal» layout. I agree with the other person who said that it’s odd there is no «chip» aisle. It’s just sort of off to the side of the cash registers… not exactly where you’d look for it. In fact, most of the layout in the store is just odd. And the prices aren’t that great, and probably some of the worst produce selection. I literally live about ¼ mile away from this store – and I rarely shop there. I head to Oliver’s in Rincon Valley – much better selection, prices are good if you shop wisely, and the staff is MUCH friendlier and knowledgeable. And a marketing comment to Safeway: Making your staff say hi to shoppers if they get XX feet away, when you check out, etc… forced hospitality is not real, and probably worse then just being pleasant. I’ll continue to use this spot as my «oh-I-need-something-last-minute-and-don’t-feel-like-driving» place.

I’m really hating this safeway lately. I feel that all the employees are rude! I tried using an internet coupon a few months ago and they denied it. After contacting corporate I was told they do accept internet coupons as long as it’s not just a «Free» coupon. Which is fine because I was trying to use a Buy two get one free. I went back with the e-mail where it explained they should have accepted my coupon. The manager was not friendly about it. When asked why the checker denied my coupon he couldn’t give me an answer. No apologies for the inconvenience or anything. Fast forward a few months later. My boyfriend and I shop here every weekend, spending almost $ 100 a week. I just spent $ 100 and then he goes behind me to buy a six pack of beer. His license was expired and hadn’t had a new one sent yet because DMV sucks(don’t get me started on the dmv…). His license was valid and if she would have scanned it, it would have shown up valid. The checker Teri was a complete bitch. Said there was no way she would sell to him. I get my i.d. out to give it to her so I can buy it and she just says«NO, I’ve already denied the sale, I will not sell to either of you». HOWCANSHEDENY A SALE?! We’re both over 21, I have a completely valid license and just spent $ 100 with you one minute before! It was completely outrageous. We try talking to the assistant manager who was a complete joke, kept calling my boyfriend«Dude». So unprofessional. We call corporate and have a formal complaint written up against this woman. I’m so sick of the horrible service here. There are only about 2 people in the store who are actually friendly. Worse safeway I’ve ever been too and unfortunately because it’s about a 1 minute drive from my house I pretty much have to go there.

This has to be the one of the worst Safeway’s I’ve ever been to. First of all. it’s way too damn small, secondly how is there a grocery store that doesn’t have a normal potato chip aisle? Half the time this store never has the stuff you need, for an example on a recent trip I went to buy a head of lettuce and they were out! How the hell does a grocery store run out of lettuce in the middle of the day? Are you kidding me? The other bad part is the prices for produce, they charge $ 1.50ea for an avocado! What kind of crap is that??? What? Are they made out of gold or something? I will gladly waste the time and fuel to drive across town to G&G, at least the produce is alot cheaper

This is an awesome Safeway. First — I love the layout. It’s easy to navigate and find everything that you need. Second — the staff is friendly and helpful. Third — the Deli rocks. Some of the best Safeway Sammies I’ve had — have come from this store. Decent selection of items, large selection of canned tomatoes(see my other safeway reviews) They carry all the different styles in their brand. Lots of variety — slightly smaller than the one on Mendo, but they often have my bread choices late in the afternoon. So I am happy.
