La Playa

Once again the food was delish! Just be sure to order the shrimp tacos! Husband had the hamburger. He said it was very good, looked a tad over cooked but still. They were understaffed tonight but that won’t keep me from coming back!

We waited for a table, which is to be expected on a Saturday night. But the manager is the most unaccommodating, rude person we have experienced. We tried to order appetizers while we waited and they refused to let us order because the kitchen «is so backed up». Not even chips and salsa. Then we asked for an outdoor table for our large group and he refused to seat us at the high top outdoor tables.

Ok, where to start? The food was OK at best. The atmosphere was OK although I’d say it could use a very good cleaning. The outdoor seating and environment looked very nice. The food was not worth the money we paid. Not say the food was bad, just not worth the price $ 16 for a fish sandwich, $ 10 for a dinner salad, $ 12 for wings & $ 14 for appetizer sliders. The employees were ok, no complaints there, it’s really about the price.

This place is located in a really great area, right across the beach, the atmosphere is a little relaxed and down to earth. The staff is friendly and but the service is nothing special, still professional nonetheless. The drinks are served in regular plastic cups kind of what you would find at a frat party or some college back yard beer pong tournament. I ordered a beer on draft and was expecting a nice cold glass or a mug but got a disposable plastic cup with probably less beer that your average restaurant so I felt a little cheated because I drank most of the beer in two-​three drinks, not to mention it didn’t stay cold for long. The plates are garnished very nicely, they do have nice presentation so points for that. The food is ok, nothing to brag about. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and I was not very impressed. While the sandwich looked good it didn’t have much taste. As far as sides go there is very limited selection. The outside sitting area is wooden tables and wooded chairs surrounded by white lights which really makes the place very welcoming. Overall this place is ok, I would return again but it would probably not be my 1 st choice.

Terrible manager with a bad attitude! Tried to get a table for 10 and he refused to seat us bc he wouldn’t move 2 tables together. Not the best food last time we were here. Don’t waste your time with this overpriced restaurant. Go to Elmo’s up the road instead

We got scammed by a bar tender. Had drinks at this place after a wedding, ordered two drinks and left my tab open (card was returned). The place closed down with no final call so I didn’t get a chance to checkout and sign my receipt. Usually no big deal, bar tenders give themselves a reasonable tip around 20%, which is what I usually leave anyways and life goes on. Several days latter my credit card company notified me of a «generous tip» I supposedly left there. They put a $ 12 tip on a bill of $ 16! Not worried about the money, but feel scammed. Be ware.

Gave this place another try. Service was slow, it was not crowded, and the food was not hot. Only thing good was the drinks= 2 stars. Better off with Perfect Pig.

Extremely disappointed by the service at La Playa. We went there while staying in Gulf Place and the food was sub par also we believe the bartenders and some servers were drinking and fairly drunk by closing time at 10 pm. As a frequent vacationer in the Santa Rosa Beach area I truly hope the ownership/​management changes over before my next visit. On the other hand I would highly recommend going to the Perfect Pig next door instead!

If the sever had bothered to ask how our food was. I would have told them.
Not recommended. Resist the urge unless you are just getting a a drink by the ocean. No promises on drink quality though– we had water.

first and foremost, this place is great for its outdoor seating… from my experience, all of the employees have been genuine, warm, and attentive! I always have a really good time coming here and just chillin’ outside. Most recently, I ordered a pretty delicious Bloody Mary (plurals) and the blackened grouper special. I was really hesitant to try La Playa based on these reviews here on ze Unilocal,but I’m glad I went against the grain and tried it. The atmosphere is really chill, perfect for people watching and feeling the gulf breezes. I sat outside and really enjoyed the experience from start to finish. There were fans to help combat any heat/​flies but it was a really nice afternoon. The people here are laid back and I definitely recommend Saturdays and Happy Hour for pretty good drink specials.

Wouldn’t know… Manager refused to put on the football game my group wanted to watch, even though the place was nearly empty. Thanks pal!

This overpriced food is mediocre, at best. Went with a group of 8. Service was prompt and staff was friendly. Outside seating is nice if the weather is good.

Happy Hour allows for good drink prices, but very limited food options. Dinner was delicious. Very happy that the fish of the day was grouper, because when I come to Florida, I want me some grouper!
Parking can be tricky if it’s busy there.
Really like the outdoor seating, surrounded by palm trees and smelling the sea breeze. Very nice ambiance.
We’ve been there three times, two years in a row (twice the second trip) and haven’t had a bad experience. Wait staff could tell we weren’t «from there» and were friendly and welcoming.

The setting is great, perfect place to finish the day, however sometimes the service is a little slow. Worth a stop in if you’re driving down 30a to avoid the crowds in Seaside. Great wings.

We love to have drinks and sit and listen to the bands… this is a great local hang out. Food is expensive but everything on 30A is.

First off, a warm welcome from a friendly staff. After looking over the moderately priced drink menu we decided on Piña Colada, Mango Daiquiri, and a La Playa Punch. Score, score and score!
Second, it’s Tuesday and we need tacos. Pulled pork tacos with sweet potato fries to share. The pork was succulent and juicy topped with a fresh slaw that compliments these over-​stuffed beauties. The sweet potato fries are done in a way that I’ve never had before– the combination of nutmeg, sugar and salt creates a flavor profile reminiscent of Thanksgiving time and I am totally digging it! I will be returning again for sure!

As you can see from our profile, we are normally quite complimentary in our reviews. However, we are not able to do this for this establishment. From the time we arrived at the hostess was rude and reluctantly seated us an area we preferred. Our server was attentive and did a good job. We ordered a burger and wings to share. The burger is $ 15 and was nothing special. The wings were terrible! They had no flavor at all. The only thing keeping this place open is the fact it is across from the beach and basically serves as a tourist trap. We will not be going back.

Horrible horrible horrible. Not the food, but the manager/​owner or whoever harassed my mother after we got overcharged on our credit card bill. My mother and I had an appetizer and a couple of drinks and the charge on our credit card was almost $ 70. Our original bill was less than $ 20. My mother speaks with an accent and I overheard the manager or owner tell his other staff that «she doesn’t f****** speak English». Very low class behavior, I would not spend a dime here. The food is nothing special, go elsewhere where they don’t tell you their credit card system is down and force you to let them write down your card number.

Food was decent, but wait on food was ridiculous. We waited for over an hour for fish tacos. Really?
