I have been working either directly or indirectly with Diego for the past 25 years as he was the reason why Montalvo on Montana succeeded. There are only one or two tailors in the greater Los Angeles area who’s work is comparable. The person who wrote a less than stellar review about spending $ 75 to have a jacket taken in doesn’t know what is involved. You can find a cheap tailor who will just sew in the sides which will ruin the integrity of the jacket. A GOOD tailor has to remove the sleeves to work on the chest and shoulders to make sure of a proper fit, but to each his own. If you want lesser quality work you can find it, but don’t ask Diego to compromise his integrity by doing something he knows is wrong. He’d rather suggest another tailor than pander to the uneducated. Every suit and jacket I own have functional button holes on the sleeves. Diego does that work by hand. You can have them machine made but once again you get what you pay for. His pricing has nothing to do with his location as he’s been in the Brentwood/Santa Monica area for over 30 years. A master tailor indeed. This is why that in that elite area his clients bring in Kiton, Cucinelli, and Attolini suits that run approximately $ 7,000 and would not let anyone touch those suits other than Diego. A true master tailor who knows his craft and is meticulous about the work he produces. Why do you think he’s been a fixture on the West side for all these years? People, think twice before leaving less than satisfactory reviews. I know you’re out there because I see them. Spend less time knocking other on Unilocal and do your homework if you share the same passion for perfection. Otherwise leave your comments to yourself and do not share them in social media. It only makes YOU look bad not the Dress Code.

The first time I brought a jacket in to have sleeves made more narrow, the job was done well; but I did think that $ 75 was way overpriced. A few weeks ago, I brought a pair of pants in to be hemmed. They were extraordinary pants and I didn’t mind paying a bit extra. But $ 92 for pants to be hemmed is pure robbery. I appreciate that they are in the high rent district. And I also appreciate good service and good work. But being a sucker twice — that’s one star for me!

I have been using THEDRESSCODE for over 10 years. They are also the only tailor my boss will use as well. They made my wedding dress by taking apart an old cocktail dress and making a pattern from it.(Very Project Runway!) They made custom shirts for my husband who has very long arms and a slim build and cannot wear off the rack. They fit any tailoring problem I bring them, they put snaps on my heavy canvas back pack, which I LOVE. They can fix moth holes in sweaters. I’m sorry that person had a problem with Diego and his VERYCARINGSTAFF. but if you take my advice, you will give them a try and make up your own mind. FREE parking in the back! I know you will be happy you tried THEDRESSCODE.

Diego and his staff do a fabulous job of altering all types of clothing from heming pants, replacing zippers in leather jackets, to shaping pants, dresses and blouses so they really fit and lay nicely. He and his daughters are just lovely, caring, talented people as well and really know what they are doing and give good fashion advice. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for simple alterations to the more complex. I have complete confidence and satisfaction in their treatment of what matters to me.
