The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

Working temporarily in the area and excited to have a coffee bean right next door. Two days in a row they have gotten my order wrong and I didn’t realize it until I was back at work. It’s not a complicated order at all, but the employees were too busy having personal conversations to pay attention. Also completely forgot my stale Danish that I’m pretty sure was from the day before, had to remind them.

I came in this location to work for an afternoon and had the most wonderful experience.
I was immediately greeted by their friendly staff who gave me the run-​down on all of their coffee and tea drink ingredients (especially K the manager and Maurice the barista).
They even offered me free samples of teas and lattes (delicious!).
The venue has ample indoor and outdoor seating and is located in the heart of Main street.
I already cant wait to come back to this location and will definitely be using it as a meeting spot in the future!

I live two blocks from this CB&TL stopped in there the other day to grab a simple coffee. What is going on? Such a bad vibe in there. It looked dirty and old, It’s obviously a homeless hangout, yes I have a BIG problem with businesses that have homeless people in and around them. They STINK! The young man working behind the register was just SO unfriendly. The outside seating area is a waste of space, filthy and gross. I won’t be back.

This place is amazing love the staff their Always fun, every time I’m come down to visit family It’s a must stop dylan, Maurice, jacky wav their all great haven’t be there in a while but definitely miss that fun atmosphere

An okay location. Here are a few reasons why:
1) As it’s in Santa Monica but closer to Venice and there is a bus stop right in front of this location, a lot of homeless hang out right in front and can make it a bit uncomfortable going in.
2) If you ask for water at a Starbucks, they will give you a big togo cup with a water. I was really thirsty one day and decided I would go in. I didn’t want to just get free water from them, I would feel bad for that … so I got a baked good and then asked for a water. They did not give it to me in a togo cup and instead gave me an incredibly small cup filled with ice and two sips of water in it. Was not really what I was hoping for. Made me want to patron Starbucks instead even though I am a total Coffee Bean girl!
3) Staff is not always so nice here. They are kinda just go about their business. That’s okay since it’s not really somewhere I would want to hang out all day.
4) They do have a nice outdoor patio, but again a lot of crazies in the area.
I really do love Coffee Bean though, and this location is just okay compared to the other ones I have been to.

Great service and coffee. The cashier Dylan was especially helpful in helping my disabled friend choose a drink and was very understanding and helpful. Will come again!

The outdoor firepit is just about the only thing this place has going for it The coffee was just average and the pastries dull. You won’t be disappointed if your expectations aren’t high. I recommend just a simple coffee and conversation with your gang at the firepit.

Horrible service. First, the guy at the register (Luis) must have been high because he asked me for my order 5x. When he finally got it right, the girl making my drink (Jacky) made it with regular milk instead of soy. I asked her to make it again and she made it with regular milk again! I would have asked for my money back but they were too busy chatting in the back. Also, is it kosher to put milk that’s been sitting out on the counter back into the Gallon jugs? Because that’s what the 3^rd incompetent worker was doing. Seems like a shortcut to mold to me.

These guys are super unorganized and have almost no idea what they’re doing.
The anxiety pours out from the staff and permeates throughout the building. Always second guess myself on whether or not I need a cup of coffee.
Seems like there’s a very serious lack of training.
Still better than Starbucks, as far as the coffee goes.

BUT THEY HAVE A STINKING HOMELESS PROBLEM. We live 2min walk but every time we go in it smells with the presents of the homeless.
Sad.

I really used to like this place but I don’t now. The morning is awesome with ezrah and Vlad but coming in the afternoon with the girls that look like they’re 10 years old sucks. I feel so much more comfortable coming in in the morning than coming in the afternoon. Especially since my friend that has been coming to this place before the security guards where there (for 5 years) got kicked out and the 10 year old manager didn’t back him up (even though his coffee was hot) but the chess players that never buy anything were having the time of their lives. The wanna be kanye west security guard honestly seemed like he just wanted good company instead of actually caring about the customers that have been going there for years. THANK YOU STARBUCKS DOWN THE STREET.

In the last few weeks, this location has added a security guard who appears to have been charged with the responsibility to chase away the vagrants and smokers.

Average chain coffee. What slow service. People really don’t know what they are doing. Disorganized. Took over 10 mins before I got my plain ice coffee on a Saturday morning.

I personally love this coffee bean. Maybe it’s because it’s walking distance from my house but I also believe it’s much more than that.
Every time I go into this particular store the people working are always in a good mood. They will always go out of their way to make you happy no matter what.
I also love the system for how they ring in their drinks. I feel that they have a really efficient system doing on.
One more thing, when I went to set up my rewards account there was a long line behind me which I know can be frustrating to the person at the register but she was so sweet and helpful and walked me through the whole process and details of the rewards program.
Overall you have a really good staff at this place that is eager and willing to work as hard as they can to make their customers happy.

If I could write a 10 star review I would. I work a few doors down from this place and Every time I go in there the staff is SOOO amazing! Quick, friendly, efficient and hardworking. I have to say that a lady that works there with the letter K on her name tag, is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met in my life. She’s ALWAYS happy and helpful and does whatever she can to help every and any customer. She deserves a promotion asap. Hopefully she’s the manager, because she should be.
It was 10:03pm, (they close at 10pm) and I ran down to coffee bean hoping I could still get an emergency brownie bite for my girlfriend (who was having lady issues) but the door was locked. I knocked a few times and K saw me at the door and unlocked it and asked what I needed. Her and the younger gentleman with glasses who works there were so sympathetic to my situation and grabbed me a brownie and rang me up for it. THESE PEOPLE ARE LIFE SAVERS :)

Ok, the bathroom is a bit cleaner and safer under lock and key, LoL!
About time you guys!!! I prefer a code on the door though, but I’ll take the key method.
Nothing against homeless, but I think they were using it as a public shower.
Still the spot to people watch and the lady baristas seem to be peppy. :)

Great location smack in the middle of Main Street. They have nice outdoor seating, perfect for people watching and having coffee with your furry friends.

A place to sit and relax (assuming there are no bums or crazies begging).
Coffe is good. Groundworks (across street) is better. No patio though.
So, if you are down on your luck, or have been sitting on the computer in the house too long, it’s a great place to refresh back into the real sober-​high strung-​coffee world :)

— Bathroom available and clean
— They offer samples regularly
— You can ask for your coffee in a glass mug
— Parking in rear … awesome for motorcyclists.
— Outdoor fireplace
— Chess matches regularly take place here
Dislike:
— The seats near the parking, where the garbage bin is, can get quite smelly in the afternoon.
Still, there’s plenty of other seating available.
This is one of my favorite places to work, because the staff doesn’t make me feel bad for staying longer than most customers. Definitely a fan!
