I went to Scubahaus in preparation for a trip to Hawaii where I would be snorkeling and spending lots of time at the beach. The salesman who helped me directed me to a set of a mask and a snorkel and made sure that the fit on the mask was perfect. I asked him if he had any other recommendations for gear I should get for Hawaii and he recommended a long sleeved surf shirt(aka rash guard). The gear I bought at Scubahaus really made my trip wonderful. I was traveling with four friends and each of them had their own masks and snorkels and mine was the only set that worked perfectly! Everyone else’s mask’s either leaked or didn’t fit right and one girl even had issues with air not flowing into her snorkel. I tan pretty easily but the sun in Hawaii is a lot harsher than in SoCal and I didn’t want to risk sunburn. I was the only one in the group with a surf shirt and I was also the only one who didn’t burn her shoulders, arms, chest or back! I definitely would go back again to buy any snorkel or scuba or beach gear from them again because they gave me great customer service and excellent merchandise.

Needed to rent gear for a trip to the channel islands. I think I spoke with Rocky. He said that they only rent the heavy gear, offered advice on where to rent the lighter gear(mask, snorkel and fins). I decided to buy it at sports challet, and he said that«If I am not buying the light gear from him, he wouldn’t rent me the heavy gear» Frankly I did not realize I could buy the light gear from him, my mind was on the trip. If I would have realized it, or if his tone was a little better I would have bought the light gear from him as well.

My boyfriend and I got Scuba Certified from Scuba Haus. Scuba certification itself isn’t cheap, but Rocky has such a phenomenal deal and incredible instructors. We each bought fins, snorkels and masks, and scuba gloves. Rocky allowed us to try out the gear during the pool classes and exchange or return it if it didn’t work out and pick out something else. Rocky knows a lot about all things water and is so helpful at the store. Our instructor, Lela Buttery was so attentive, clear, and calming in the water. We recommend getting scuba certified through Scuba Haus and buying gear from here.

Top notch scuba store. Bought lots of masks and fins for my kids and also rented scuba gear for the day. Rocky is the best. Very helpful and i will definitely return for more gear and get my kids scuba certified. This place is the best!

Overall, I had a great experience buying gear at Scubahaus as a new Scuba diver. David and Rocky were very helpful and happy to assist in anyway they could. I will definitely be back. I called Scubahaus a few times about scheduling Open Water Certification lessons. Although much of the information is on the website, unfortunately the dates for courses for the summer haven’t been updated despite numerous calls, though not explicitly asking that it be updated online, just would be a nice touch. Unfortunately the dates when lessons were available did not work for me so I was referred to an instructor who does private lessons for Scubahaus but she did not respond quick enough and I scheduled my lessons with another company. I came into the store a few days ago to look at purchasing some gear for my first open water dives(mask and snorkel). David greeted me and asked what he could help with and showed me the various types of masks and snorkels offered as well as other gear I inquired about. There was no pressure to buy, no upselling etc which was really nice. Eventually I settled on a mask and snorkel and some other miscellaneous items. David was kind enough to throw in a waterproof bag in for free. When I got home I noticed the mask seemed to have some fingerprints on it etc so I was upset but returned to the store a few days later for an exchange(you have 30 days w/receipt) and was immediately greeted by Rocky who could not have been nicer. He seemed puzzled at my request(and perhaps my newbie status showed) but he didn’t ask any questions and fetched a new mask. Like the previous this one had dust and marks but nothing some water wouldn’t take off, which I now realized was standard amount the Atomic Frameless masks I guess. Overall, I was very satisfied with the prices, service, and location and will certainly return for gear. Thanks Rocky!

Certified at this shop in 2006, and I’ll never go anywhere else. No matter what I need Rocky can get it.

SO helpful! I’m a novice buying my starter’s package for PADI certification and Rocky was so informative and patient while I tried everything on and asked so many questions. Quality products and a clean comfortable shop with great service. 5 stars Rocky, good work!

I shop here for swimming(not scuba-specific) goggles, suits, shampoo and other paraphernalia for lap swimming. The stock is not large but it’s carefully selected. For example, you won’t find 10 brands of swimming shampoo: just one good brand that I haven’t found elsewhere. Also, the store carries prescription goggles. Service is very good. Prices may be slightly on the high end.

A real pleasure doing business. I called ahead. A friendly phone voice picked up right away and answered all my questions. When I arrived at the store, a person in a good mood helped my friend and I right away. They had the right products. It was really easy buying from them and a pleasure. It seems basic to be able to buy easily and with pleasure. However so many business put up real barriers to doing that. This place is the exception.

Move over Scuba Steve! I am now scuba certified and I didn’t die in the process! Win! ;) Anyone interested in becoming certified should take classes at Scubahaus. You have the option to either take all your classes here, this includes pool time, the written portion and open water(so you’re completely SSI certified) for $ 425 or a referral class, which is what I did for $ 250. That means I completed the pool time and written test at Scubahaus, then finished the open water else where for an additional price.(I went to Unexso in the Grand Bahamas, so it was an additional $ 300 to complete my certification.) Scubahaus will provide the wetsuit, tank, bc, weight belt, regulator, study book, dive log and divers insurance. You will need to bring your own: mask, snorkel, fins, booties, gear bag. I recommend looking into these or going to the shop to buy the gear before your first day of class. They provide a 10% discount for students. Simonster ordered me a scuba set in pink~they’re so cute! And, the store owner, Rocky special ordered these so I was able to pick them up at the shop. Gear can get pricey, but when you’re purchasing items that will keep you alive while under water, its a good idea to get the better equipment. The pool and written portion of the class is 1 night class on Friday(6 to 9pm) and one full weekend(8am-5pm). The pool sessions are at SMC and parking in the lot is free. Our instructor, Day was an ideal teacher, shes friendly, makes sure you understand the drills and spends the time to explain the principles of what makes a good, ecologically aware diver. The entire class was a very open learning environment and all the students looked out for each other. Thanks Scubahaus! Also if you’re in the Grand Bahamas for diving, definitely check out Unexso. Well in my next life, I’d like to come back as a mermaid, until then… I can scuba dive.

Everyone should take their scuba classes here! Rocky, the store owner, is super nice and great(despite the fact that he is a Bruin…). Also, all the instructors(esp Day and Hal) are very knowledgeable, friendly and supportive. I have enrolled in the basic certification class since August, but have never able to complete the certification due to work or being sick. However, they let me reschedule numerous times without any additional charge. I’m going to complete my final certification this month(knock on wood). Sometimes the pool sessions can be crowded with 1 – 3 classes going at once, but I think they do a good job in the student-instructor ratio, which is the most important aspect. Also, I like that there aren’t any surprise /hidden fees(e.g. having to pay for the ferry rides to Catalina island). All in, the program costs are mostly in line with other places. I did my homework. Some places seem a lot cheaper, but it’s because they don’t include ferry rides and other such things. If you are enrolled in the class, you get a discount off scuba /snorkel gear that you is needed for the class. I would definitely take more scuba classes from this place as the instructors are great!

Great scuba shop! Just had my scuba tank visually certified and charged in 7 minutes! It would take more than 1 hour at Sport Chalet. Only costed me $ 10.

went in today to pick up some snorkel equipment. the guy working was so helpful and super nice. definitely seemed like he knew what he was talking about, explained everything, though I already had a fair idea about most of it. let try on the equipment. what I was most impressed about was that he didn’t seem like he was forcing a product on me and let me make my own decision, while still offering advice. I didn’t feel like I was being pressured to spend money, but at the same time, didn’t feel like I was being scoffed at if I /did/want to spend more money as a beginner,(in other words, he didn’t make me feel dumb) seemed to have an excellent selection of everything and the store as a nice independent(as in not corporate chain) atmosphere to it. will definitely go back in the future.
