My husband and I came in just to try something different. We came in completely not knowing what to expect, but the service was great and they really helped us to understand. I decided to go for the«mystery meal», and I was not disappointed at all. All of the servers are visually impaired and extremely helpful and so nice. Our server was Michael, and he could not have been friendlier. Although sitting in the dark was initially extremely uncomfortable, once I got over that, it was truly an awesome experience. We left with very full tummy’s and a great memorable dinner!

Such a fun a unique experience. I think it would be fun to go again with a group of girlfriends but my first time with more personal one on one for a birthday. The only reason I did not give this place 5 stars was because it is over-priced. It was such fun experience though… super strange to not be able to see at all. Your eyes keep trying to adjust but there isn’t any light so it doesn’t work. You really have to rely on your other senses which really do become heightened.

Our visually impaired server Anthony was tops. Extremely pleasant the entire time and checked back with us many times to make sure everything was going well as we dined in complete darkness. The food we had was very good. Not excellent, but very good. I especially enjoyed the market salad. I can only give four stars however, for a few reasons. One being that we found the lounge area to be uncomfortable due to the temperature being so low. I was actually worried that the dining area would be the same, but thankfully it wasn’t. The second reason being that for the overall experience and food quality didn’t justify the $ 100 per person price tag. This business should include one alcohol drink per person with you meal at that price, but doesn’t.

I would like to start with the positive: The waiters, who are all vision impaired, are excellent! Interacting with these individuals was the highlight of my dining experience at Opaque. The not-so-positive: The food is just food, but it happens to be average food in pitch darkness. So, if you are looking for dining in pitch darkness, this may be the place for you. The food is just very average, BUT, the price is NOT very average! It is exceedingly overpriced, and the prices are not on the menu. The quality of the food would be a $ 15-$ 20 meal anywhere else. If most of the revenue was going to the seeing impaired employees, I would be OK with this. But, this is likely not the case. Next time I will cook at home, close all the shades, turn off all the lights, and have the same experience but with higher quality cuisine.

What a phenomenal experience! Everyone should dine in total darkness at least once in their life, if only to see our brains in action. FUN! Food was surprisingly good given prior reviews. Server Anthony was amazing.

Pros: the overall experience is definitely worth while. Our waiter was excellent in helping us find our table and explaining where everything was. The food was pretty good. Not the best I’ve ever had, but definitely not terrible. It’s fun not being able to see anything and getting to use your other senses. All of the staff were friendly and informative. Cons: It’s pretty pricey. More than I would have liked to spend for the quality of the food we got.

Been here, done that. However, I would go back again. It sure is pricey however you are paying for the experience, not the food. You obviously can’t see what you are eating which means you can’t see how the quality of the food actually is?! It is the experience and very different to hear other tables and conversations going on, the waiter is very helpful informing you where your fork, plate and glasses are. It was even a trip to hear Happy Birthday singing going on in the dark. I’d go again but might end up doing a jack in the box heading home to feed the beast.

I took my brother here for his birthday because he really wanted to go from all of the hype. There’s a nice lounge area where you order your food before you go in. We were introduced to our waiter, and he led us into the dining room. It was pitch black inside, like pitch black you can not see anything good luck if you fall out of your chair. It was so much fun and there are so many little things you don’t realize you have to think about. Glasses were spilled, butter ended up on laps and hands, and you eventually just start eating with your fingers. Our waiter turned out to be a musician and he sang happy birthday, accompanied by a live band, to my brother and another group that was there. The food however was subpar. I ordered the chicken and vegetables which were overly salty, and the dessert was rather dry. My brother and grandpa were also not satisfied with their fish and steak. The silverware was made out of plastic which was surprising, but makes sense once you realize how much people tend to drop things. Overall the experience was fun and a cool bucket list thing to do, but don’t go if you’re expecting the food to be mind blowing.

I have waited 5 years to finally get the chance to enjoy Opaque. What a disappointment right out of the gate. First the price was $ 99, okay my choice to participate. I convince my husband. I get a call a few days before and since it’s Valentine’s Day it’s now $ 129. First Strike. But I have waited so long to experience it, my husband says ok. It is being held at the V Louge(an obvious nightclub on any other day). I was told in my email that parking would be free, it wasn’t. The valet for V Louge said it was a mandatory valet service. Second Strike. My husband is starting to regret this. The Louge is dark and you have to walk across what would be the dance floor to a small podium. So not really a romantic setting, especially for Valentine’s Day. We were offered a drink from the bar while we waited,(didn’t realize that would be an additional charge later on), and then we were introduce to our server Francisco. We were escorted to our table and we began our meal. As you know you take away one of your senses and the others enhance. So we could barely hear ourselves talking to each other but could clearly hear everyone else’s conversations. We felt like we were shouting at each other. All of our courses came timely. Then in the middle of a pitch black room, some idiot opens his cell phone. BAM!!! Bright ass light everywhere and now you can see what’s going on. Completely ruins the ambiance and the experience of the entire evening for the rest of the room. I asked the man to close his phone, the people next to me echoed it. But the damage was done. Also you can now tell that you are in a circular design of tables and there has to be about 20 couples in there, so no wonder it’s loud. Not a romantic setting for the price. Third Strike. So thank you Mr. Jerkface. My husband and I continue on trying to finish our desert and then comes the complimentary glasses of champagne, more like a swallow. I will give credit to the food, kind of. That night the food was delicious, my husband had the salmon and I the roast beef. However, I was sick the next day. So overall it could be a great experience if done properly and other people don’t screw it up. Space it out more so it can an individual experience and not feel like a group participation. Readjust the pricing to reflect the atmosphere. I can eat at Denny’s with my eyes closed for less money and have the same experience. I do want to say that what made the night was our server Francisco. HEWASFANTASTIC!!! He actually talked with us and was engaging. He was the best!!! The overall experience we enjoyed and I would recommend everyone try it at least once. Just be ready for some of the bumps that can and will come along.
