After reading the sparse but wonderful reviews, the lady and I thought it might be nice to try KC’s on a nice Saturday around noon and even brought the puppy on it’s first walking outing. KC’s definitely is not easy to find, but luckily I had already read the Unilocal reviews and am familiar with the neighborhood. We parked one block east of Main St. and walked on over. We followed the signs to a buzzer that nobody responded to, and we finally had to phone KC’s to have him come out and open the door that leads into the complex. FYI, KC’s no longer accepts the certificates. What Casey will do for you(well, he did for us) is take 10% off the bill and charge no tip. He said it comes out about the same(which for the $ 10 certificate may be the case, but it’s not for the $ 25 one), but if that’s true, why not accept the certificates? Anyways, I’m in the process of trying to get credit from . I ordered the BBQ chicken wrap with a side of sausage. The lady had the breakfast burrito with bacon. We also ordered an iced coffee and bought two Diet Dr. Pepper cans and a bottle of water. The food did not come quickly. And when it did arrive, we had no utensils or napkins.(We sat outside and hadn’t noticed the area where you can grab your own. Still, shouldn’t he have said something rather than setting down our food and silently leaving us sitting there with nothing to eat with?) The burrito was okay, although on the smallish side. And it made my wrap look even tinier, which it was. I guessed about 5″ long and 2″ in diameter. Yes, I actually got that picky, but it was moreso because I was already on a rant about the three sausages that were 1.5″ long and worse than the ones I buy frozen and make at home(kinda chewy and tough). The only plus is that the wrap tasted decent. Too bad it didn’t last very long. =[ After a while I went in to inquire about the iced coffee and was informed that coffee is self-serve(you mean we paid for the coffee that’s sitting out there in those canisters and look like they haven’t been touched in ages?) but he would bring us a cup of ice. I really have no idea what was up with Casey that day(I asked if he was KC and he said«Yeah») considering others seemed to have had a nice experience here. In his defense, he did seem to be a one man show. But then again, only two other parties showed up while we were there. Maybe it had something to do with the«For Sale» sign that was up. I asked if he was moving and he said he just wants to go try something different. Maybe this is a business owner’s version of senioritis. In any case, I won’t be returning until there’s a new owner.

I can’t believe I’ve lived here for almost 2 years and until today had no idea this adorable little oasis existed! I purchased a $ 10 gift certificate to KC’s and set out to find it for Sunday brunch. After wandering up and down Neilson Way with no luck finding 2720, I finally stopped into The Shores apartment complex to ask where it was and lo and behold, the trick is you have to walk through The Shores lobby to reach it! Sneaky sneaky… The market area of KC’s is limited to detergent, cereal, ramen and beer. The bistro has delicious and surprisingly affordable breakfast and lunch options — I opted for a chicken ceasar wrap(which comes with a side — I ordered the onion rings) and my friend had the Spanish breakfast burrito. I gave the pup I was sitting a bowl of water and sat at a table outside admiring the view which overlooks a pristine pool, tennis courts and beyond that the ocean lined with leafy palm trees. Classic Santa Monica… so peaceful, calm and pretty! Our food arrived quickly and it was pretty tasty. My wrap tasted fresh and healthy and my friend loved her breakfast sandwich. I was a little disappointed with the onion rings — avoid them, they reminded me of cheap Burger King onion rings — but pretty happy with everything else. Our server was sweet and super friendly, the view was fantastic and the food was decent and VERY affordable. After using the coupon, our total for 2 sandwiches and a drink was $ 20.02 — $ 10 certificate = $ 10! We tipped generously and left happy and full with leftovers to boot. Check out this hidden gem before it disappears — we noticed a sign out front that it(and its liquor license) is currently for sale. I’ll be again soon!

I absolutely love this place for lunch when I’m at work! I eat here almost every day(thanks to their awesome delivery service). Everything I’ve ordered has been really good(slightly addictive). Let’s just say they know me on a first name basis :-)

The Main Street locals call this place«Secret Place» as it is hidden between the Shores Towers in Santa Monica. It is not long that it will be a secret. The food is not only healthy but the menu is extensive and includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. KC’s also has a liquor license so why not grab a Mojito or an ice cold Bud and sit out on the ocean view patio and watch the sunset? Okay, so I let you in on the«secret.»
