my first time in this place, we were seated right away but no waiter came until after 15 minutes to take our drinks when we were already ready to order our meal but he said he will come back. So another 15 minutes to bring our drinks which is just water and lemonade. Really?! Then he finally took our order after he delivered the other drinks to the other table. After 40 minutes the food came and that’s the reason why I’m giving two stars instead of one. The food was ok and servings were big, but I don’t think I’ll be back in this restaurant again.

I came to watch the game and as i was entering barneys hostess yells saying you can’t go in their and i asked why and her reply was where just not letting in anyone right now so i asked to speak to the manager and a guy who was standing next to her replied he was the manager and i asked if he can tell me why and he said that they where at capacity and looking from where i was standing i told this man that dose seem at capacity, and just asked for a business card and according to him was that they don’t have business cards… it felt they were just being selective on who they were letting in…

I was in the area on a beautiful Monday and thought we’d get a quick beer and small bite or two. Sat outside on the patio to people watch and drink in the sun. Unfortunately, we also drank in that putrid smell coming from two doors down. It should be a crime. Abercrombie and Finch a.k.a. Abercrombie and stench has their signature perfume pumping out every minute or so often, as this store normally does. Really nauseating when you’re trying to enjoy your beer or food. This is the only Bernie’s Beanery I’ve been to. Evidently, there’s like five? So I can’t compare this one from the others but as far as a sports bar goes, it’s a solid three stars. Decent beers, great fried pickles, loaded nachos — surprisingly good. They really need to clean out on the patio more often. The back and front of the televisions are filthy. I’d come back for a quick beer and small bite again if in the area. But I would never recommend it to someone when there are so many other options.

I don’t care what other people say — BB is awesome! Service is always great, and if you sit outside by the street, you get a front row seat to some interesting promenade entertainment. You don’t come here for top-notch gourmet food. This is a place that serves drinks & classic American beer food… and it is open until 2am. If you know what you’re coming here for, you won’t be disappointed. After trying different things on the menu, I have decided the footlong chili hot dog is the best choice. Again, this isn’t a place to get oysters or steak tartare… it’s a place for beer, fries and burgers. Sometimes, you just need a break from fancy food and need to slum it. If you need this… BB is a great choice :)

The service was excellent. My server was very friendly and gave great recommendations about the menu and some of the drinks that were of the alcoholic variety. The food was amazing and it is a great place to bring the entire family. They serve breakfast all day for all you breakfast lovers out there. I would say to give this place a try if you are ever in the area

Barney beanery does not really appeal to me. The place is just like an sport bar that needs a major renovation and I never stepped unto this place even once. So, I decided to be brave and went here alone, just me and no one else. The decors are weird. sorry not being optimistic about your decors. Ordered the Grilled shirmped burrito and I was like«oh what the heck is this?» and ate the whole without saying a word everytime I swallow that big burrito. Yes, I liked and I would love to have that burrito everyday. The staff was also friendly with me. Now I can say that this place is not bad. ITSGREAT!

Wow… How could a place be this bad? I’m just happy they could at least pour a beer because they cant cook a decent meal. Let me go back a little, the décor is awesome. I love the tacky sh*t everywhere. There are 3 levels to the restaurant and an outdoor area. The top level has a bar to watch games along with pool tables/air hockey and some other cool games. The bottom level is strictly dining and the middle level has a huge bar and dining. Again, the décor is awesome. I was expecting a good meal, then I saw the HUGE menu… There is NOWAY this place can make all of this stuff… good anyway. I ordered a chimichanga.(others had ordered other areas of the menu) WHOPUTSPOTATOESIN A CHIMI??? Terrible. Not only the idea of it, but the actual flavor was just bad. I had to drown my meal in hot sauce to get any sense of flavor. Maybe they do something good? I dunno. I returned a day later but only to watch a game and drink a beer… Avoid this place, unless you have actually eaten something good… prolly not.

This place was super delicious. We ordered a lot of the menu and everything came out great! Our favorite dish was the buffalo chicken pizza. The service was a bit slow, but to was nothing to get upset about. This seems like a great place to watch games with your buds over a few beers or a late afternoon lunch with your significant other.

Some coworkers and I decided to go to Barney’s beanery in after work for happy hour and to catch some sports games. We typically like grabbing drinks together after work for team bonding and camaraderie. When we walked up we noticed there were hubcaps against one side of the wall commemorating the historic and infamous route 66 of California(and the USA– but California made it famous). There was enough seats for all six of us at the bar area, which is rare for happy hour. The seat we love was available which is something like a three seater taken from the back of the Cadillac(You’ll have to go to Barney’s to understand what I’m saying). We sat down and the bartender immediately greeted us. She shared jokes and laughs with us and made us feel like she was one of the crew. Let me be the first to tell you they’re happy hour is amazing. All of the beers are $ 4 or $ 3.75, and all their appetizers are half off. We ordered mozzarella sticks, macaroni cheese bites, and macaroni and cheese. Their beer on tap is very expensive and we typically try at least one to two different beers that we haven’t tasted before. The food came out quickly(within about 10mins), and we were ready to eat. It was amazing to say the least. Come to find out Barney’s serves all types of food and it’s a genuine good old American cuisine with different variety. There is also a pool table in the rear and a Mrs. Pac-Man arcade machine near the front. The noise level is the average you would expect and anticipate from a bar but it’s not so loud that it beats against your eardrums. We were enjoying the food and beer so much we ordered another round of food and beer even after happy hour — at that point the price didn’t matter because the ambience and quality of food outweighed everything. Me and my coworkers agree, this is definitely a great place to commune for food happy hour and drinks! We will be back!

I love all the TVs here! You can watch any game, anywhere, anytime! My friends and I came here yesterday, on a busy Sunday, to watch the Warriors game. We were seated inside, sort of half-downstairs. First off, if you’re coming here for the first time like I was, the menu is HUGE. They have everything you could possibly want at a sports bar and then some. My friend and I shared the Nacho Mama’s Nachos and the 15-piece Hot Wings, half buffalo and half sweet & spicy. Food wasn’t mind-blowing, but it’s good bar food. I liked the sweet & spicy wings, and I also appreciated the fact that they weren’t just completely smothered and dripping with sauce. The nachos come on this ginormous plate, so plenty to share. This is a great place to watch the game because they had both ESPN and ABC on, so even with the game delay yesterday afternoon, we were still able to watch the entire Dubs game on the next screen over. I also saw a big projector screen in the next room over, where people were watching and cheering. Service was also great. Even though my friends and I were there for a few hours, our waitress kept coming by to check on us and refilling our drinks.

The stars I’m giving to Barney’s are mostly for the food. They have many, many choices, including all-day breakfast(YAAAAAS!), pasta, burgers, and salads. I had the chilaquiles, which are tortilla chips dipped in red chile over scrambled eggs, served with guacamole, pico de gallo, sour cream, rice, and beans. They were yummy and satisfied my hunger after a long day of sightseeing AND I like that I didn’t have to pay extra for guac or sour cream. This location is also on the promenade, which makes for a lively dinner experience and great people-watching. I subtracted some stars because of the service. It was the most HORRENDOUSLYBAD service I’ve experienced in a long time. Our waiter, Chris, came by exactly twice — once to take our drink orders and once for food orders. No water refills, no «how is everything,» nothing. I know what you’re thinking: «But Amy, maybe it was busy! How would you feel if you had to wait tables during the dinner rush?» It wasn’t actually that busy, as my friend and I got there at the tail end of the dinner rush. There were several empty tables around us, including in his station. AND he walked right by our table multiple times to take orders from people who sat down after us, so it certainly wouldn’t have been a Herculean task to check on us or fill our water glasses. The host walked by our table at one point to seat some people and we actually had to ask him for the check because Chris was nowhere in site. Spoiler alert: customers should not have to hunt down their check at a restaurant. It was like once our food was ordered, he wanted nothing to do with us, which is the opposite of how service should be. I do like Barney’s Beanery because it’s iconic and has delicious food as well as a big menu, but if Chris’ service was the benchmark for how customers are treated on a regular basis, that’s a problem and the servers need some lessons.

STAYAWAYFROMTHENACHOS! I hate giving bad reviews, usually, but I also hate being sick all night from eating bad nachos. My friend and I went to Barney’s for a happy hour and I thought nachos sounded amazing. Then our very friendly waitress(the reason this review is 2 stars and not one) brought out our sad happy hour dishes. Seriously, my nachos came out and I thought they resembled elementary school cafeteria food. However, from all the school lunches I ate in the 90s, I never yaked. I didn’t eat many of the chips because they looked so unappetizing. I mean, the guacamole was a weird color and the cheese looked like they tossed it on the chips and microwaved it. After we left, an hour or so later, I felt this unbelievable wave of nausea come over me. I hadn’t even been drinking. Well I ended up getting violently ill several times over the course of the night, and now that I’m writing this at 3 am, I’m hoping I don’t get sick again. Needless to say, I’m never coming back.

Lefthand Milk-Stout. Lefthand Milk-Stout. Lefthand Milk-Stout. My goodness… my favorite beer in the entire world. They carried it!!! A cherry on top to my PR finish in the LA Marathon. The food was decent, especially for a pub — like setting. Had the turkey on sourdough and the NE style clam chowder. The service was slow but it’s a large place accommodating many orders on Valentine’s Sunday afternoon, so I understand. Overall I enjoyed the experience and look forward to coming back. From the front to the back bathroom, this place is plastered with collages of celebrity photos and news clippings. The décor is very eclectic to say the least. We sat at a booth inside and I regretted it immediately. It’s like your typical sports bar with a little bit of a flair and the food tastes better. And since we weren’t there to watch any game, I wished for a quieter intimate brunch. There were license plates lining the ceiling above our booth. I would not want to be there during an earthquake! Oh and I noticed that the floor shook each time someone walked by. In front of us were several huge screens showing different sports games, each had its full volume on. Surprisingly, with the noisiness, I could still carry on a conversation during the meal. Despite feeling slightly claustrophobic, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Our server was friendly and took our orders quickly. The food took a while to come out though. I decided to go for the item that stood out to me the most — the cinnamon bun French toast combo — and boy was I glad! It’s the perfect entrée if you’re craving something both sweet and savory for brunch. It came with eggs, two sausage links and two pieces of bacon. I was stuffed! Next time I want to try the blueberry stuffed cinnamon bun French toast. My husband had the mishmash omelet. The different ingredients in there made it colorful and tasty. There were different nooks and crannies in the restaurant with random game machines and a pool table. The atmosphere was definitely casual and laid-back. I can see how this would be a cool hangout spot for some sports fans though.

3rd Street Promenade is just oozing with restaurants, and in the mix this is one of the very reasonable priced ones! FOOD — Come here for the chili bowls! Regular is fine although I know you’re dying to get the large size. If you don’t dig chili, the menu is very extensive with all the diner food options you would ever dream of for one meal. This place is by no means gourmet but it is great value. Drinks — Very reasonable for the area! $ 4 beers make a girl happy. ATMOSPHERE — It’s cool and it’s laid back. Reminds me of the same vibe I get at Bubba Gump’s for some reason… lol. Anyway, if you feel like being easy on your wallet after all the shopping you do, come here!

I have never felt this way about a place but if I could give 0 stars, I would. It’s sad because this place is really fun to watch sports games and to bring the family. There’s lots of energy and it’s just overall fun. But the food and service was so unbelievably bad and I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you were visiting the area. Our waitress with the brown curly hair, was inattentive. She only checked on us once throughout the whole time. We also saw her on her phone many times. She was all over the place, servicing many tables. She seemed overwhelmed which makes sense for the poor service. The food and drinks also took very long to come out. The alcoholic drinks are horrible. My friends drink was filled with ice. He took out half of the ice and there was still so much more in there. He asked our waitress for another but they just took out ice and added more liquor. My strawberry lemonade cocktail had sugar around the rim as well as a hair. I asked if I could get a new one but all they did was wipe off the sugar area where the hair was. Disappointing and flat out lazy of the bartender/waitress. Food was average and underwhelming. My pizza was not cooked all the way through and the middle was soggy. Pieces of the chicken were cold. My boyfriend’s «juicy Lucy» burger was dry, and not juicy. $ 50+ dollars on bad alcohol and mediocre food? I could just cry. Really disappointing because I heard from my friends that their other locations are awesome. But this Santa Monica location is sad. I really do not like writing reviews like this but stay away from this place.
