I wanna love this place, I’m totally down with cosy little bars– but those places usually come with friendly service and great drinks! bar Chloe unfortunately comes with attitude and poorly made drinks. the servers are flakey and each time I’ve come they have forgotten a drink. I’ve tried ordering at the bar but the bartenders were snooty and the drinks havnt been balanced or well made.

First of all, I love the name. I’ve been to bar Chloe before midweek on a first date that went really well, or so he thought. The ambiance is great here, it’s quaint, sexy and great for dates which is why I suggested to another date we meet here again. Drinks are great and always market fresh. It was pretty busy on the Saturday night for the much better date with a much better man. Bar tender and staff are always friend and cool.

Racist owner. We were a crew of twelve, with someone who is a regular. Had a birthday party and a table set up. We started going in and doing the id thing then as half the party is inside the owner sees the birthday boy, whispers something to the bouncer, and we all have to leave. He’s Asian and three drinks in, but apparently that is too drunk for bar Chloe. The bouncer got very clear no instructions and changed his story a few times, but clearly the owner saw an Asian guy in our group and suddenly there was a problem which couldn’t be solved. Tl;dr Chloe is racist and you shouldn’t go there. At least you shouldn’t if you respect your friends. This just happened and the ‘drunk guy’ has had less than me. Judge my story and writing as you will.

Saw this place on Unilocal when I was in the Westside. I love hand crafted cocktails. The vibe is very intimidate, almost kind of cozy. There are about 6 – 7 table seats with long couches and a handful of seats at the bar. This space is small but I liked it. Great place to hang out with friends and have a drink. It’s dim inside with a speakeasy/hipster trendy flair. I had the Chloe cocktail which was delicious. I also sipped the Stiletto that was super yummy strawberry flavors. Great place to relax, converse, and catch up. On the corner of Broadway and 2nd, adjacent to Hotel Carmel.

Bar Chloe is one of my go-to spots in Santa Monica. They rock a Mon-Fri 6−8pm happy hour, where you can get some $ 5 wines, $ 4 beers, and $ 6 selected cocktails(manhattan, tom collins, and a couple others). They have a few snacks on their happy hour menu as well. I’m a big fan of happy hours. That being said, I don’t come to Bar Chloe for the happy hour. I come here because their bartenders(who are awesome) can whip up some serious cocktails. Pretty much any classic cocktail I’ve requested they’ve been able to make without breaking a sweat, and, boy, do they make them well. Come here to enjoy a legit cocktail in a cozy spot with a good friend or a date you’re trying to impress. Word of warning: they do seem to host a lot of events/meetups, so this place can go from intimate to way-too-crowded when there’s a group in here.

This is a very small bar/lounge of this hotel. I was there on a Thursday night and it was crowded. I liked the vibe, furniture, and the lighting. The waiter was very nice and prompt. We ordered chips& guacamole and it was fantastic The bartender was nice and the drinks were good, a bit pricy, but hey it’s Santa Monica;) They have valet, but the public parking is just next door which might be cheaper. I would like to see this place on weekends!

Andrew is the best bartender ever! He made these amazing drinks with Guava and tequila, super hard worker and he made the night enjoyable!

Wonderful little intimate bar spot. I think this would be the perfect place to go on a weeknight with a friend for a couple cocktails and some really good conversation. It would also make for an awesome date location(also on a weeknight) as it has a very dark, glamorous, intimate ambiance. I definitely hope to be back and recommend!

Interesting space. Some casual, open seating as well as bar seating, and decent cocktails with a minimalist menu. It’s a cute place with a typically Westside crowd. Loses one star for no air conditioning.

I walk in and am greeted by the smiling face of a charming young Mexican man. His slight accent makes me feel like a young boy first smelling the sweet aroma of fresh chocolates. He made me a drink. He made my heart flutter. Armondo. My one true love. Love, Miles

To sum up my review in 3 words: absolutely abysmal service. Read on for more… I’d passed by Bar Chloe several times while in SM and was looking forward to trying it, so my friend and I strolled in early on a weekday evening. The interior is small, but given the time of day it wasn’t that full yet. I found a seat, and he walked up to the bar to begin ordering our drinks. I waited several minutes… then realized everyone else sitting down was being waited on by a server. So I decided I would try to get a server’s attention. There were 2 servers working that night. I made eye contact, smiled, nodded, waved… signaled in every polite way that I could to get someone’s attention, but I was ignored. Meanwhile, my friend is having a similar experience at the bar being completely ignored. When he finally manages to get someone’s attention, he’s told — rudely — to go sit down because a server will be with us. He comes back and sits down with me, and we both play the«let’s get the server’s attention» game for a few minutes before getting exasperated with how inefficient this bar is at doing their job — serving drinks to customers. So my friend goes up to the bar again, while I continue to desperately make eye contact with someone. Finally, after a good 15 minutes of struggle on both of our parts, we acquire our drinks(which, by the way, weren’t even great. The Manhattan was unbalanced with way too much vermouth, and the Femme Fatale was fairly weak despite that it seems like it’s supposed to be a spirit-forward drink). Let me note that in our 15 minutes of waiting, we saw at least two other people get served at the bar with no effort, and a server came by both of the tables flanking me to serve them — while completely ignoring me. I don’t know what the correct word to describe this place is — I don’t know if it’s arrogance, aloofness, or confusion. But what I as a customer came away feeling was that they just don’t give a damn. When you make me work that hard to get so much as a look from one of your employees, that is downright offensive. Let’s recap what happened: the employees at Bar Chloe essentially made me put in all the effort to get a few seconds of their insulting attitude, so I could pay them to do their job. Let’s think about that for a second… We stayed to give Bar Chloe the benefit of the doubt but I regret not walking out after the first 5 minutes, especially given that their drinks are mediocre at best — certainly not worth the hassle or the rude behavior we had to experience. I refuse to give a business this unprofessional more of my time or money. Oh wait — but I suppose Bar Chloe doesn’t care, anyway.

The décor here sets it apart from a lot of other bars in this part of town, but that’s mostly what it has going for it. The cocktail menu is fairly uninspired. Service is mediocre; our large group was basically asked to leave for another group. Probably an okay place to bring a date on a quiet weeknight, but otherwise I’d skip it.

Being a student at UCLA it’s hard to find a nice bar. I don’t always want to go mingle with students at pint night or go to some trashy place. Sometimes you just want a nice getaway with cool atmosphere, fun people, and nice drinks. That’s what Chloe is. A really chill bar. It’s small, it’s a little hidden, and it’s a fun place to come get a drink because you can really just come here and relax. It’s about being toned down, not hyped up, and sometimes that’s just perfect. Also, they make a damn good tom collins.

Amazing! A group of 20 of us came to the tiny Bar Chloe for drinks. It is a very small place with a speakeasy environment. There is plentiful seating and it was very open and music was not overpowering. We were so happy with the service! The two bartenders were more than welcoming even for our large group. I was eyeing the cocktails, but opted for a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. It was delicious with hints of apple and was very refreshing. My friends highly enjoyed their beers and cocktails too! We will be back!
