Adelaide Drive

Horrible, my car window got smashed and I got robbed on this street near the Santa Monica stairs.

I saw this listed in a Delta Magazine as top romantic spots in LA. I’m not buying into the romantic part, but this is a quiet street with beautiful architecture and wonderful Bay and Canyon views. The famous Santa Monica stairs, (Both sets), are on Adelaide making weekends here look like a public fitness club. Great spot for running or biking as the traffic is extremely limited along Adelaide Dr.

This street buttresses against the Devil’s Staircase (The Santa Monica Stairs) which provides wonderful juxtaposition between this lovely ocean-​adjacent canyon view. I like.

This short stretch of residential street is one of LA’s prettiest places, and one of my favorite little walks. Adelaide runs along the southwest rim of Santa Monica Canyon, one block north of San Vicente. The street begins at Ocean Ave. and goes to just past 7^th St., a distance of only a few blocks.
The graceful vintage homes on large lots along Adelaide overlook ocean and canyon. At 4^th & Adelaide are the famed Santa Monica Stairs (

), that go all the way down to the bottom of the canyon, to Entrada Dr. A second set of stairs is just up the street. The stairs attract a constant crowd of fitness enthusiasts & trainers, and their stream of cars. For that reason, I might pass on actually living on Adelaide if given the opportunity because privacy would be compromised. But I’ll continue to enjoy a stroll now and then in this little piece of paradise.
