Golden Donut

Hands down to this donut shop sooo fresh sooo moist :) I tried a few other places but this donut shop leaves those other shops 2 miles from the finish line while the golden donut sits at the finish line.

We always come here for the family, its close by and yummy! Good pricing too! The owners and workers are nice as well, overall a good place to get donuts!

I love this family owned company, they are a staple in our Orcutt community. The woman that «runs» the show always cracks me up and is polite beyond belief. The glazed donut is yummy in my tummy, it’s fresh, light and doesn’t taste like it’s been fried. Support this local shop and community staple. If you have a sports team or a Friday meeting your people will be impressed. Cheers Unilocalers

Nice donut shop with chairs outside so you can hang out, and there were a bunch of retired guys hanging out with their donuts and coffees, which i am always happy to see. Communities need places like this that allow gathering spots to happen.
The prices are beyond reasonable. I got 4 donuts for $ 3.
The donuts are fresh and the selection is good. I do wish they had powdered donuts, that seems to be the only kind they didn’t have.
But they have cake ones, the standard maple bars/​chocolate bars, bear claws, donut holes. Everything was stocked well and they also have plenty of milk and coffee to go with your donuts.
Definitely happy to find a nice neighborhood donut shop, and will be coming back!

Wow!!! One bite and you can taste the freshness of these donuts! Love their croissants too! I’m happy to have this gem close by.

The best and freshest donuts around! I’ve been a customer since the early 90’s and can say that Who and her family are very generous. My kids and I love this place!

Amazing donuts, just perfect. Obviously very fresh (even the ones we got at 10 during the week were still awesome). They’re very busy during the morning rush, and it helps if you know what you want before it’s your turn, service isn’t warm and fuzzy, but they obviously love what they do. Lots of «grumpy old men» sitting outside enjoying their coffee and donuts.

Normally I would have given higher rating, but I had a frustrating experience here. I ordered med coffee and it being self serve I grabbed a cup and saw there was a vanilla nut coffee. I started dispensing and immediately got the sputtering air and spray of coffee signifying the coffee was out. Some old guy came out of the back and I informed him that the vanilla coffee was out. He looked at it for a few seconds and lazily said «ehh that’s it for today». I was stunned that this guy was too lazy to make another pot. I just said Wow. It wasn’t even 9am. I’ll never go back to this place if that’s the kind of service I receive.

The best donut store that I’ve EVER been to. The apple fritter, maple bars, and crème filled donut that we got were so good, I could not find one single flaw. Baked fresh, you can tell that the owners put a lot of love in what they do.
There is no reason to try another donut place. I’m THAT satisfied. I don’t give out many 5-​star reviews… this place absolutely is tops in their category.

Oh how I miss the Golden Donut!!!
As a kid, we’d go to the Donut every Sunday after our paper route and get a donut. I loved coming here and interacting with the lovely owner and their kids. Now I live out of town, but on the occasions I come in, they still remember me!
It’s one of those, «crusty old men, sitting around, reading the paper, drinking coffee all day» types of places and it’s adoreable. The little old men add to the atmosphere. I love that they have a permanent coffee cup that is kept there in a special rack for the locals.
I didn’t realize how unique their donuts are until I moved away. I didn’t know that you can’t get a chocolate chip pocket elsewhere or that no one else makes a cream cheese filled square and heaven help you find a cream cheese square with a strawberry swirl! They are delicious donuts that are consistently good.
They do your regular classic bars, rounds, old fashions and holes, but I recommend one of the unique donuts I mentioned above.

Live in Orcutt? Think Albertson’s donuts are only fresh w/​in the first 30 minutes of their debut at 3:30 a.m. Then The Golden Donut is for you! Old school feel: cramped seating area w/​an omnipresent group of locals who seem to be a bit deprived of humor and laughter, but they never seem to bother anyone, though a few of them like to stare. But I digress. .. old school feel, juxtaposed by an Angor Wat-​vibe that can only be attributed to the owner (I am guessing the Asian lady who is behind the counter). I have yet to chat with this friendly and gregarious lady, as I have always been served by 1 of the 2 teenagers that work here (owner’s kids??)
Anyway, we’re here for the donuts: excellent! Not too greasy, freshness is always evident; excellent flavors that are not overwhelmed by sugars or frostings. They sell a 16 oz sized 2% milk carton, which makes me most happy!
Mostly, I love the apple fritters! Enough said.

They have pretty good donuts, prices are good and the people behind the counter are very cool. They do close early, so don’t expect them to be open when your coming home from the bar and want to carb up on some donuts.
