Too pricey. I recognize that Santa Fe is a destination city for residents of New Mexico and non-residents alike, however the price was out of proportion for the portion as well as the quality. I still do give this place three stars for one dish that was ordered by our group and the pleasant atmosphere. My sister order the salmon, and while the dish was $ 20+ the fish was cooked perfectly and was a decent portion. I ordered the cheese ravioli. For the first time in my life, I experienced what«too cheesy» is. The ravioli was stuffed with Gorgonzola, then topped with a cream cheese sauce with shaved parm on the top. There were just too many cheeses competing for the star spot. Also, there were four raviolis on this entrée plate. A friend ordered the seafood spaghetti(it had a better title but the gist was squid with pasta). While she expressed delight in the taste of the dish, the portion was quite small and the dish was barely luke warm. The entire meal cost us $ 80 for lunch and no one was completely satisfied. I don’t think that I would return for a meal to this place. I did like the location and the atmosphere so maybe for a drink and appetizer, provided it was not the ravioli.

Unfriendly, condescending waitress. We had been there on Christmas Eve and had a great experience. Not so about a week ago. The menu is limited and what arrives does not at all look like what is described. Miniature portions except for the caesar salad which was unlike any I had ever had. We will not go back. We don’t need to pay extravagant prices to be treated like we should just leave.

My husband and I dined here for lunch and after waiting more than an hour for food to arrived were served half of what we ordered which included a delicious but quite heavy half chicken and a 17 dollar piece of salmon no bigger than 2 fingers. When presented our bill it included items we had never received. It took another 20 minutes to resolve that situation. After 2 hours we left hungry and disappointed. It is very sad to see what this once great restaurant has become

This place is pretty perfect. They have an early & late happy hour, where all apps, small plates and glasses of wine are half off. The staff are so friendly and kind and deliver excellent service. I ate here last night for the third time and was so thrilled to be there. My friend and I shared a beet salad, baby artichokes, pumpkin ravioli and the most amazing mushroom gnocchi. Our wine was great, too. I look forward to returning asap!

Delicious food. Impeccable service. A little on the pricey side, but so worth it. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Way overpriced for the quality AND quantity of food!!! We have never spent so much for so little of mediocre food. Save your money and go somewhere else!!!

After a long hiatus, we just ate at il Piatto again with some out of town guests, and it was a consummate Santa Fe restaurant experience. The service was the best we’ve ever had in town, and the food was exquisite. We will certainly return more often!

We went there for dinner on Saturday Oct. 10th, a party of three. It’s an Italian bistro, with typically subdued lighting, and cozy atmosphere. All the food we had was good. Unfortunately some of those portions were minute, at outrageous prices. Even more unfortunately, we had the most arrogant and unfriendly service that we’ve experienced in all of our extensive travels. On the plus side, the food that we did get was promptly served, and my caesar salad was an ample portion, was reasonably priced, and was delicious. So I give this restaurant 1 star for those things, but I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Our waitress, Jessica, spoke a few words to us when taking our order, without a smile or a pleasant word. She never spoke a word to us after that. The food was brought in a reasonable time, by other people, not our waitress. Jessica dumped water in our glasses periodically during the meal, but never spoke a word in doing so. When we asked for the check she brought it, and then picked up our credit card and brought the charge slip back for signature — all without so much as a single smile, and without speaking a single word. She never appeared during the meal to ask if we needed anything, she never offered us coffee(which we would have liked), she never offered us dessert, she never said goodbye, she never said thank you. She demonstrated what I could only take as arrogance, or a major attitude problem. Who would ever want to go back there after that kind of treatment? To add insult to injury, two of us had a glass of Chardonay wine, and those glasses of wine were sparsely filled, at $ 11.00/glass. My sister-in-law had the chicken, for $ 28.00. Chicken! My wife had only an appetizer, Bay Scallops, for $ 16.00, and they brought her 3 or four little shells sparsely filled with a few tiny bay scallops each, all of which my wife was done with in just a few bites. My main course was the smaller portion of Gorgonzola Ravioli. The full portion was somewhere around $ 30.00, I took the half portion for $ 16.00, because we’d had a late lunch and I didn’t want to eat a big dinner. Well I sure didn’t! My $ 16.00 portion was four of the cutest little bite-sized mini-raviolis I’ve ever seen. Thus, with four bites, at $ 4.00/bite, it didn’t take me long to get through my dinner. The oddest thing was the dish the ravioli were served in. It wasn’t a plate or a bowl exactly, it was kind of a large, bulky bowl, about 12 inches in diameter, which looked like it was squished down so that it was very squat in height, but all that excess glass or porcelain spread out to give it a very wide rim, with a small, shallow depression in the middle about 3 – 4 inches across. So I’m served this bulky, heavy dish with a smallish depression in the middle which held the 4 mini-ravioli’s that tasted good but cost $ 4.00/bite. I’m convinced that they serve the food in this large and bulky dish, with a small depression in the middle for the food, to try to give you the impression you’ve been served something substantial, when in fact there’s very little in the dish. The bottom line was a tab of $ 101.00, an outrageous amount to pay for what they served us, and just as big an insult as the treatment we received from our waitress.

Disappointing doesn’t begin to describe our experience. My husband commented that getting nominated for a James Beard 8 times and never winning obviously means you’re doing something wrong! If you want Italian in Santa Fe, go to Andiamo or Osteria. Took 15 minutes to get our wine. Ok, they were completely full… But maybe they needed to staff more than one bartender. We had to ask for bread. My husband ordered the tomato salad and loved it. I went for the Caesar. It was dripping, literally, with dressing. Gross. Had to use my knife to scrape off excess dressing just to eat it. Got tired of it halfway through. They cleared our plates, including silverware, which is nice. My husband opted for the spaghetti. They forgot to bring him a fork. When they did, they gave him a salad fork! I ordered the pappardelle, which the waiter said more than once was his favorite dish. It was cold, not lukewarm, cold. Five minutes of waving at waiters and I finally got their attention. He looked at me like I was crazy. I told him to touch the pasta, «it’s completely cold.» The kitchen quickly prepared another dish and it was brought to me in less than five minutes. But, no marscapone on it. I pointed this out and, again, I got the«are you sure you know what you’re talking about”-look. He offered to get a scoop for me from the kitchen. Um, no, thanks. It wasn’t anything great. It totally lacked seasoning. And I think they forgot the red wine in it. It was pretty bland. The waiter did offer my husband(!) a glass of wine on the house! Of course, there was nothing wrong with his meal! I guess I’m just cold pappardelle! The lady at the next table ordered the wild salmon special. It was completely overlooked. It took 20 minutes for them to get their wine. When our waiter asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu, we decided they’d already screwed up every course, so the odds didn’t look good for the third. We told him we had cake from Whole Foods at home. So, $ 144 later, we definitely will not go back.

Seated at table for 6 when we had a table for two, wait staff extremely distant, burnt food, zero knowledge of wine by waitstaff. This is not a cheap restaurant — you expect more in a town full of good ones. We will never return to this place.

After running a half marathon that morning I was excited to treat myself to a great dinner. That didn’t happen here. The waitress was rude from the beginning and really didn’t even try to care to help us. My steak was hard and improperly cooked, however, when I brought this to their attention there was no attempt to correct the situation. Just an overall horrible experience. Should have went somewhere else.

Unbelievably poor experience. From the entrance to exit, we couldn’t have been more dissatisfied. The service was next to non-existent. Food quality was decent at best(and that is the food we were given, not the food that we ordered). Long story short, I would avoid this restaurant at all costs.

Unenthusiastic service. Way overdone potatoes and too many tendons and grizzle in the stake. Prosciutto wrapped trout good concept, but enough garlic to give the toughest stomach heartburn — And I like garlic!!!

I had the Duck breast and my wife had the Lemmon and Rosemary Chicken, both were overcooked, the vegetables and sauce was the best part of both dishes. We ordered a desert to share and some Port to go with it, the desert was wonderful, but they did not have the Port that was on the menu. Service was outstanding, very over priced for the quality of the food.

If you like rude service and so-so food at high prices in a place which calls itself«Italian Farmhouse Kitchen», then this is the place! Our server(big, bold tatoo of flowers on her right forearm) did not welcome us or tell us her name, or even anything about the menu or specials(I expect small pleasantries at these prices). She seemed perturbed when we didn’t order wine. She said, «tap water must be okay then?» With a snip in her voice. When I ordered an appetizer(and not an entreé), she said, «you must be wanting more bread then». My appetizer(a well dressed salad with mealy orange tomatoes) was less than lackluster. My husband had a vegetable appetizer which was quite good. I know it was good, because I tried it! And that’s when I heard the server loudly remark, «they’re sharing food». Several others heard her remark, and I felt humiliated… as if I had just robbed a bank or mugged an olé lady! My husband’s entreé arrived 30 minutes later… yet it wasn’t what he ordered. Another employee brought the entreé. Our server never checked on us and did not give an explanation. We asked again for our order. 30 minutes later, someone else brought it. I couldn’t wait to get out of there, after being treated to this snobbish attitude and being ignored for an hour and a half. I wrote an explanation for why we didn’t tip on a comment card and gave it to the manager. She didn’t thank us, apologize, or even comment on our experience. Never, ever going back. Will share our opinion with friends and family.

This is our favorite restaurant in Santa Fe and Santa Fe has many terrific restaurants. The owners are both chefs, lovely folks, dedicated to local, organic, delicious, equsitely and creatively prepared food. Though they have(we hope only temporarily) stopped the prix fixed lunch and dinners, the food is still very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is great, we especially like the front original room or the outdoor seating. Even when it is full it isnt noisy so it’s easy to carry on a conversation. There are always new items to try and yet you can most often order the signature fabulous Rosemary Chicken with roasted potatoes and veggies. Where else can you get grilled calamari(as opposed to fried) as an appetizer? The service is virtually alwys good. We don’t get why some much less good restaurants both in terms of price, quality, presentation, and flavor get higher ratings. It may be because folks like us don’t want it to become too popular so that it’ll be difficult to drop in without a reservation.

Food was so-so. We arrived late at night when it was a late happy hour. So appetizers were half off and so was the wine, which was nice. I guess you get what you pay for. The gnocchi was overcooked. No color to the plate, just very bland. Pinion nuts and ravioli we’re okay. They sat in a puddle of oil. I have a feeling it was not to be served the way. Staff was trying to clear out and were loud and were eating their own dinners and drinking. Not sure why you keep a restaurant open till 11:00pm if you’re customers are feeling rushed and they might have interrupted the staffs dinner. Lol. It was pretty ridiculous.

Although the food was admittedly good, the bad service completely overshadowed the meal — we left shocked, insulted and so angry… the only attentive person on the floor was the woman clearing our dishes, who politely and discretely informed one of the wait staff(NOT our waiter Aaron(?) who had long abandoned us) that we needed something(anything!) The waitress who finally bothered to bring us our check then sniggered about us to the hostess — in the middle of a very small dining room — about 3 feet away from us. Like others sharing their negative experiences, we love and appreciate good food, and we are NOT uptight about service whatsoever. In fact, we’ve both worked for years in the service industry ourselves… we are easy to please, we’re exceptional tippers, and all we had hoped for was some personalized attention and perhaps some well informed recommendations about a few of what looked to be unique specials. Instead, we were met with little to no input or interest in the questions we asked, we weren’t informed about happy hour, and we had to literally call out to the waiter with pointed«Excuse me“‘s to get him to check back in with us… We really hope the chef checks these reviews and takes immediate action. What a shame to know that a handful of unprofessional and lacklustre waitstaff at this restaurant are compromising his reputation with every snub…

The ambiance is very nice. We went on a Tuesday so it wasn’t crowded at all. If you go between 4 – 6 I believe it’s happy hour which means that appetizers(including appetizer portions of entrees) are half off! The servers were also very nice. They start you off with a freshly baked bread. The seasoning itself was nice but it seemed a little too much on the salty side for my tastes. We had the Caesar salad and calamari appetizers. The ceased salad comes with the leaves fully intact, not chopped so get ready to look awkward stuffing a whole lead into your mouth or using a knife on a salad. Honestly, though, it was probably the best Caesar salad I’ve ever had in my life. Not too salty or creamy — just perfect. The anchovies that come with it are an odd touch though. The calamari was very, very soft and very well seasoned. There was a sauce that came with it that’s creamy and also very good. Personally I prefer crispy calamari though so it didn’t quite suit my tastes. I had the Red Chili Linguine which comes with mussels. The mussels were very, very bitter. Soft and flavorful but I just couldn’t get over how bitter they were. The taste of the mussels seeped out into the pasta which made it less pleasant for me. The actual linguine and red chili sauce was savory and wonderful though. The pork chops are soft and juicy. The come with a wonderful potato gratin and a strange kind of vegetable that I can only liken to korean kimchi. The squid ink spaghetti was alright. A similar taste and texture to the linguine. Zabaglione was rich and creamy — I wish more than one strawberry was provided with it though, especially for something that comes out to almost $ 10.
