One of the best restaurants we have visited in Santa Fe. Food and service were great. We visited this Sunday and had the Sunday specials. The hot-from-oven bread was perfect in taste and texture. Soups were fantastic(gazpacho and mushroom soup). My wife devoured her trout(stuffed with crab) and I loved the fried chicken(spiced up a bit with chiles). Desserts were perhaps not 5-star, but were very close. If we lived in Santa Fe, we would be here a lot. With a dessert wine, and an upgrade on the $ 20 price for the trout, we still had a fine dining experience for the two of us for less than $ 70.

Great food and service in spite of large party taking up much of the restaurant. Highly recommend.

I took a star off my earlier review. It was not as good last night… My husband’s sampler, included tasteless shrimp, equally flavorless salmon, and crabcakes that were lacking the crab. I’d give his a two. My veal in lemon and caper sauce was good. The caesar salad was good. I’d give it a three based on that meal, but am hoping that it was just a bad night or?

I was in Santa Fe for a conference and had walked by this restaurant on the way back to my lodging. It smelled Wonderful and I thought I would give it a try. First off parking is an issue. There are only 3 maybe 4 spots at the front of the entrance and not being from here I had to drive around and found parking across the street. When I walked up to the restaurant 2 people from my conference were walking out and highly recommended it– So it was a GO! I immediately liked the ambiance. I was by myself so I sat at the bar and was immediately greeted by the Chef and waitstaff. The bar is made of copper and the décor is warm and inviting. I looked over the menu and ordered the special– Prime Rib. First let me say… that anytime I have ever ordered Prime Rib it is usually medium-rare. When I received my prime rib it smelled wonderful, tasted wonderful… but was well done– I was not asked how I wanted it cooked, and did not ask(so 50⁄50 fault). I could have sent it back-but to be honest… the taste was so Wonderful I couldn’t imagine wasting such an incredible piece of meat by sending it back. The mashed potatoes were very good, the presentation was great, the wine list good. Overall I really enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. They do have happy hour specials and I am looking forward to trying these in the future. Also My waitress«Chris» was very nice and attentive.

I Highly Recommend. We got the Truffle soup(it won the souper bowl of Santa fe in 2015) and the fish and chip appetizer. They were out of mahi and made it with fresh salmon. It sounds questionable, but this was one of my favorite parts of the meal. The breading was thin and crisp and the fried filets were served with a delightful sauce for dipping. I got the Grass Fed, Organic NM Filet Mignon. It consisted of cocoa, coffee, & garlic encrusted, Pomegranate Balsamic Reduction. I asked if it was sweet he informed me the reduction has a sweet taste. I requested it on the side and on the side it was. The steak was perfectly done and tender. I am a Texas girl, so I know my steak. I have had a few… thousand. Anyways the flavor was spot on. Idk how it wasn’t sweet since it had cocoa on it, but I don’t care it was the perfect combination of spices. It came with house made mashed potatoes and those were just great. My husband got the Frenched Chicken because of Unilocal and all of the raves on this dish. I might have to get this next time. It will be so hard to choose. This was a very unique and yummy dish. The chef stuffs gruyère under the chicken’s skin before cooking. That means the chicken was moist and covered in my ALLTIME favorite cheese. It was significantly cheaper in price than my entrée, but equally tasty, if not more. For dessert was got the house made sorbet with the house made ginger snaps. It was a great palate cleanser and an amazing way to end the most romantic and perfect date. Our waiter took amazing care of us and he really had a lot of knowledge of the menu, how things were prepared, and where they came from. It was very apparent that he adores his job, the chef, Santa Fe, and his coworkers. All of these things combined with the surplus of real candles and a lovely atmosphere really impressed me. I will make a point to be back and tell everyone to try this place!

Absolutely terrible. Came here for our anniversary. Server barely tended to us. Lamb was almost raw. When we finally tracked down another server to notify her, she offered to heat up. Asked for a manager. Some short crabby lady offered to take half of my meal off.(We found out later that she is the owner!!!) I wanted to eat food not have half the meal paid for. For a place as expensive as this, I am not impressed. I’ve been to many fine dining restaurants and I can say this is the worst one I’ve been to. Portions were small, flavorless, and way over priced. I would expect this kind of service at a Chili’s. Should have listened to our driver who recommended other places and told us we could do much better in Santa Fe. Live and learn. Listen to the locals. The owner needs some education on how to treat customers.

If you’re looking for a special restaurant in Santa Fe, this is the one. I’ve been several times and always impressed. Creative, family run, with great service. Try the tableside Cesar salad!

We made reservations for the first night of Restaurant Week but didn’t realize that on Sundays they also have a special $ 20 menu. After looking at both options, we decided to try the Sunday Special. The soups were both wonderfully delicious. I got the French onion and the boyfriend got the truffled king trumpet mushroom soup. The mushroom soup didn’t have any pieces of mushroom, it was more of a purée. The French onion had actual onion rings on top of it. They were very thin and crunchy and wonderful. For entrees, I went with the tomato and gruyère stuffed chicken and the boyfriend paid the upcharge for the prime rib. What can I say about the chicken? The description says it all, melted gruyère inside of a succulent chicken breast? Cheesy heaven. Sadly, for the boyfriend, he ordered his medium rare and it came out medium well/very well in spots. I couldn’t get him to send it back so he just ate it but didn’t enjoy it very much. His dessert was chocolate ice cream with a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. The cookie wasn’t soft like we anticipated so he used it as a scoop for the ice cream. My dessert was deceptive. In my dessert’s defense, the description listed a donut and ice cream. In my mind, it was going to be some type of cake donut. What arrived was literally a chocolate glazed donut with sprinkles. And pistachio ice cream. I’m not a fan of glazed donuts so I only had one bite, but if that’s your thing, then this dessert is definitely for you. As far as the atmosphere, we loved it. The front part of the restaurant looks like it was a converted diner car but once you get into the back there are several separate but open areas. Meaning, separated by half walls and beams but open and airy. The room we were in had several 2 person tables, the kind that has a booth seat on one side and a chair on the other. I normally don’t like that set up because I feel like I’m on top of the table next to me(since they’re all connected by the long booth) but there was actually plenty of space in between tables, which gave it a more intimate feel. This restaurant was probably our favorite one that we visited while in Santa Fe and would love to give their full menu a try next time we are in town.

It took 10 minutes before we were greeted at our table. When our server finally greeted us we were able to order our appetizer entrée and dessert and wine(this is restaurant week) the bread was delivered to our table and it was another 15 minutes after that the wine showed up. Then our appetizers arrived Brie stuffed jalapeño that were jalapeños cut in half with a little bit of Brie. This place is called dinner for two but there was only 3 Halfs of jalapeños and three pieces of shrimp for their appetizers. Definitely not designed to share for two. And you can’t call it a stuffed jalapeño if it’s cut in half. After our appetizers we noticed a table that arrived almost 10 min after we’ve ordered all our food. They got their entrées before we did. Since I haven’t seen my server in a while I got up to find her to find out why they were served their entrées before us. Since we haven’t seen her in a while(The restaurant wasn’t that busy) I found her and she was bringing the entrées to our table. I told her how unprofessional it was to have A table of six get their entrées before we did a table of three. The entrées were OK. We then ordered another bottle of wine. She brought us the wine and this time our white wine was not chilled or even placed in the container to keep your wine cold as she did before. After pooring our wine she then told us the desserts we pre-ordered were not available. And suggested we pick something else. Again unprofessional but we chose a different dessert that did not go with our wine because it was all they had left. The desserts were not that good at all. And it was a bit overpriced $$$$ for what we got. I suggest that when you serve food at a place called dinner for two that you make it so you can share with«Two» The whole experience took just a little over two hours. This was the longest wait ever had at a restaurant especially since they had a set menu for the night.

Two stars is for the food, which was quite good. Unfortunately, aside from the food, this was one of the worst dining experiences that I ever had. My girlfriend and I dined here on Valentine’s day. For a restaurant named dinner for two, the seating arrangements were not very romantic. Instead, they were cramped and slightly uncomfortable. The service started off good, but progressively got worse throughout the night. After our server dropped off the appetizers and asked if we wanted more bread she didn’t stop by the table again for 45 minutes. By the time we got our dessert order in, we were approaching the 2 hour mark on the meal. After finishing our dessert, which took even longer to receive due to the server getting the desserts mixed up from the kitchen, we were finally ready to pay. Shockingly, the ½ bottle of wine that we had ordered at the beginning of the meal for $ 24 had changed price to $ 38. When we asked about the price discrepancy, the server brought out a different wine list than we had seen at the beginning of the meal(it had a slightly different selection of ½ bottles) and showed us the increased price. When we told her that the initial list we saw was different, we were told that she had checked with the manager and $ 38 was the correct price. At this point, it would have been nice to actually talk to the manager, but it seemed like that wouldn’t be happening unless we made a scene. Instead, we grudgingly paid the adjusted price and quickly left the restaurant. Overall, the meal took over 2.5 hours, most of which was spent waiting on the server to come by and ask us what we wanted for dessert(it was a 3-course meal) or pick up the check. It ended on a sour note that ensured we would never give this restaurant a second chance.

Went to Dinner for Two last Thursday evening with friends from Key West Fl. I haven’t been to this restaurant for several years, and had forgotten how wonderful the dinning experience is here. Tables are spacious, and more separated than in other SF restaurants, allowing for comfortable and relaxed conversation. Service is attentive and comfortable but not intrusive. We had the tableside Caesar salad, which as others have mentioned was crisp, delicious, and rich with anchovies and garlic(you can request what you want for these two ingredients). For entrees we ordered salmon, veal picatta, and two plates of the Truffled Mushroom Ragout. All were delicious. The sauce for the mushroom ragout was especially tasty. For dessert we had the Bananas Foster — a great production, wonderfully tasty and a great way to finish the meal. Our reservation was at 7:30, and we were at the restaurant past closing, an imposition on our part, but graciously handled by the staff. As others have noted the restaurant is not inexpensive, nevertheless the dinner was very reasonable when compared to restaurants of similar quality. Overall a wonderful evening, both for the food and the ambiance.

One of my favorite restaurants anywhere. Always well-above average food and very good service. Their caesar salad is made table-side with locally-sourced green eggs, and is always a highlight of the meal. Their steaks are perfect. If you’re in Santa Fe, it’s unlikely you’ll be anything less than very happy with your meal.

Expensive, but worth the visit. Try their award– winning mushroom truffle soup. It’s really quite amazing. Service was fantastic and they were very accommodating to gluten free requests. The filet was cooked perfectly but over whelmed by a balsamic reduction. The bone in chicken breast was moist and stuffed with tasty Gruyère and sun dried tomatoes. For desert we had their only GF option: ice cream which was rich and creamy.

After hearing about this place for over a year, I finally found time when I was in Santa Fe to come and have dinner here. The recommendations didn’t lie, this place is amazing. You walk in, and the chef is right there cooking away — he says hi, and it really feels like you’re walking into someone’s home. The place is tiny, with tucked-away tables offering very intimate dining for couples. I was with Husband and his folks so we didn’t get to experience the«couples» vibe, but I could tell that atmosphere was cultivated deliberately. There was a guitarist playing softly from the corner, which was such a nice change from recorded music. Once I was seated, it was difficult to know what to choose to eat because it all looked amazing. The vegetable listed that day was brussels sprouts with bacon, and as my companions are all kosher, we asked whether certain dishes could be prepared without the pork. While the entrees could not be specially prepped, the waiter informed us that the sprouts could be done up just for us, which was very unexpected. I had the French onion soup and the chicken breast with sundried tomatoes. Dinner was served with fresh bread, which was some of the best I’ve ever had. The soup was delicious. It was the perfect consistency, the flavours were on point, and it wasn’t too salty. The chicken was perfectly done, juicy and flavourful, with a gravy that was to die for. The waiter recommended a pinot noir that was very good, and the price was low due to his having gotten the bottles on buy-one-get-one special(what somm ever tells you this? Amazing!) It paired well with everything we ordered. The price overall was around $ 50 per person including tip, which is reasonable for a restaurant of this caliber. I don’t live in Santa Fe, but I will definitely be back when I visit, this time alone with Hubs.

Absolutely the best table side — hand made Cesar salad dressing we have ever had. Steaks and dessert were also great. Waitress(Cat) made us feel part of the family that owns and runs this Resturant. We will be back for sure on our next visit to Santa Fe.

We had a great meal. The mushroom soup really is award winning. Crab cakes and coconut shrimp were good — sauces were homemade and good compliments. Veal piccata was a little tough which could have been the cut of meat. Get the vanilla ice cream and ginger snap! Ask for an extra chocolate chip cookie to share! Service was a little slow and we sat next to a wall mount A/C unit that wasn’t ideal.

Came here with my wife. The service is perfect, the staff is kind and on the ball. There is good atmosphere, and even when the house is packed the noise is not too bad. I had the filet, it was like 10,000 angels having an orgy in my mouth. We will be back.

It is not difficult to impress someone with a dish made with caviar, monkfish, and whatever else rare sea creature. However, to impress me with a well-made chicken breast — well-made meaning tender and juicy, yet still flavorful — is very tough(pun intended). The lamb T-bone is great, crispy chicken breast is crispy on the outside yet tender and juicy on the inside. And the chanterelle and what seems like porcini sauce is spectacular. Service is great too!
