Rasmussen Harry R DDS

Dr. Rasmussen has been my dentist for 26 years. There’s so much to say about the lovely people at his office, and the great dental care I received. But, mostly I’m writing this review to say «Thank you» because Dr. Rasmussen retired in Sept. 2015. He’s passed his practice on to Dr. Yujin Choi. I’m sure it will continue to be a lovely practice, but I do miss Dr. Rasmussen. From seeing him help people who couldn’t afford care, to helping my daughter when she injured her tooth late at night on a weekend, to taking time to explain research about different care options… He always seemed like a family friend who just knew a lot about dentistry! Good luck in retirement!

He helped me recover from a traumatizing experience with another dentist by hearing me out, expressing sympathy about what had happened to me, and offering a sound dental solution. Seriously, compassion is indispensable in a dentist!
Then he proceeded perform the most painless analgesic injection I’ve ever had. It took a few tries to get all the way numb, but it was for the best possible reason: this is the first dentist I’ve ever met who tries to treat you with the least medication first and only ups your dose if you need more.
The patient rooms are serene. I had a view of a lovely little pond and fountain. The ceiling has a mural on it. The technician offered twice to get me a new magazine. :-)

While there are many good healthcare providers in Santa Cruz County, I don’t think anyone provides better dental care then Harry Rasmussen DDS. He exhibits good clinical judgment and knows when to intervene and when to observe. He is very skillful with his hands and can do many procedures relatively pain-​free. He also is an expert at performing dental implants and performs them more economically than many other offices. Finally he takes time to explain every procedure and dental problem in detail. He is a great guy with a great office staff.

Back in 2001, I was referred to this dentist’s office by the health center at UCSC.
They did regular scheduled cleanings. One day, when I was at the farmer’s market in Santa Cruz, a sharp pain started to erupt from one of my molars. I kind of lived with it for a few days until it started to get really painful. To make a long story short, Dr. Rasmussen personally answered a call from me at around 3 in the morning and rushed over to his office to give me an emergency exam and later, a root canal.
Whenever I visit, that story comes up. He remembers my name every time and gives good tips on teeth health, etc. I highly recommend him and his office; all help included there.
