Closed. I’m really sorry to see this place go. They’re lunch special was such a bargain. I could give a lot more details, but what’s the point since they’re closed? The new restaurant at this location is Fortune Garden. All I ate was the eggrolls, which were excellent. They offered me soup while I waited.

This place is out of business. The owner female in the front of the house was sweet. A new place is going in.

A hidden little gem! The vegitables are always fresh and you can tell it was freshly made to each order, no sitting under heat lamps like many Chinese places. They give big portions and are very reasonably priced. We love to get take out or go in to eat. This little places is definitley family owned and operated, it could use better décor but hey, their food makes up for it. I’m a big fan if the eggplant tofu.

I found this little gem when Hong Kong Charlie’s was yet again too hard to find parking at. I have since ate here a total of two times and the second dine in, was ehh dismal. Pro’s: Hot food, good taste and large portioned lunch specials. Won Ton soup is better than the hot n sour, but both are good. General chx was good, Hot n spicey chx was good also, but not very spicey. Con’s: Dining in is not recommended, get your food to go. They didn’t have the light’s on, nor the heat. It was freezing inside. Also, the single half melted ice cube in the water was strange.

We both ordered off the lunch special menu. Very reasonable prices, excellent hot & sour soup. We found the entrees to be good but a bit different than what we were expecting. Gf liked her Garlic Shrimp. I liked my Kung Pao Tofu(both dishes included mixed veggies, which was good), but the Kung Pao was more sweet than spicy. Convenient location & low prices will probably result in our going back trying some other dishes.

I got cheap lunch here. I expected it to be delicious from other reviews, and I was so sure that I finally found a tasty Chinese restaurant in Santa Cruz. Come on! Still not great! The beef was chewy and the hot and sour soup wasn’t amazing. But still a good deal for what you pay for. I’ll probably come back to try something else, but not after lunch. Regardless, I’m still on the hunt for the best Chinese.

I came here because of the good Unilocal reviews, but c’mon. Santa Cruz, you call this chinese food !!! I ordered beef stir fried noodles. They were so thick and not appetizing at all! The plating was terrible, too. They definitely do not have the zesty flavor like the noodles in LA do. It’s sad that you can actually tell that they didn’t use a wok to cook their noodles in. I also ordered the fried tofu. BADIDEA. They’re so salty, I could feel my arteries clogging! Yuck. I would not order them again. The décor reflected the food of the restaurant. It seemed a bit run-down and definitely not welcoming. The service was alright, but it was depressing. The restaurant was dead and the lady at the front wasn’t friendly or anything. She smiled, but i would prefer it if she didn’t. Maybe i’m just a bit cranky cause my meal didn’t settle right, but that’s how it is. Thanks for lying, Unilocal !! Never coming here again. And they’re so expensive !! How is this only $ ?!? I’m peeved.

I love to come here for some decent Chinese comfort food while nurturing a severe hangover. All the dishes are large, fresh and quality ingredients. For $ 46 I can order enough food and drinks for everyone’s palates. My SO prefers spicy, my kid prefers sweet and I prefer anything edible in my delicate state. The staff is very accommodating to my family’s ever changing demands. Excellent service-great prices-pretty good Chinese food.

I ordered a combination plate because I love to have different dishes for Chinese food. I had the hot and sour soup(a bit too salty but very delicious), pork fried rice(again salty but good), beef and broccoli(awesome), and sweet and sour pork(perfect). There was also a tasty fried wanton and two fried prawns. I don’t like prawns so I left those alone. My husband had eggplant… something. It came out to be a plate of Japanese eggplant, which is so much better than American eggplant, covered in sauce. He had to order rice on the side and a cup of soup. He was a bit disappointed that there weren’t other vegetables with the dish but he still really enjoyed it. My husband’s dish was half the size of mine for the same price. I ended up having enough for two meals while he finished all of his. I definitely recommend a combo dish to get the best bang for your buck.

I’m not sure what all the comments about the food not being healthy enough are all about. It really depends on what you order so if you order fried tofu, don’t be expecting it to be baked in a convection oven and lightly dusted with sea salt. Uh-uh. If my two trips there are any indication, whatever you order will pack a punch on the palate in a good way. My wife and I have stopped in to Peach Garden a couple of times before going to a show at the Rio Theatre and we were so taken by how delicious their food was we found ourselves looking for excuses to end up in Santa Cruz just so we could go back to Peach Garden. Our favorite dish is their Shrimp and Green Beans in Garlic Chili sauce. It’s perfectly sweet, tangy, garlicky, and has just a little bit of zing from the chili. We’ve also really enjoyed their chow mein and sweet and sour fried tofu. The only thing we got that was merely average was the steamed pork buns. The steamed pork buns and the other stuff we’ve ordered there were really far apart in the quality department(and tasted like they may have even been frozen) which leads me to think that some items might be hit or miss. Either way, their prices are inexpensive and it wouldn’t leave much of a mark if you get a few misses while sampling their menu. Just be warned that the place is a definitely a dive so if you’re not into that kind of thing, you might want to get the food to go. Ambieance in this restaurant means gettting a booth with slightly smoother vinyl than the other booths.

This review is not really based on the quality of food, but You should read it nonetheless. I work at an Auto repair shop just a block away from this place and over the last few years its become our«fallback» spot for lunch. I, being the secretary, am in charge of taking the lunch orders for my crew. decent, greasy and very fast!!! If your in the mood for some of that good nasty stuff this is the SPOT!!. I don’t personally eat anything from here, because i would blow up, But my boys seem to like it. I AM however aware that these fellas would eat just about anything, but still, this place is great. The Owner knows me by the sound of my voice at this point, which is nice, and although she speaks incredibly broken english, we’ve developed a nice head knod/cash exchange relationship. They always have the order done in less than ten minutes. Its pretty awesome. When it comes to unhealthy, cheap, fast chinese food, this is the spot!

Food here is excellent! I ordered the lunch special sweet and sour chicken with chow main and hot and spicy soup. Water refills and food arrival was timely :) –1 We were not offered chopsticks, so ate it with a fork. –1 confusion of where to pay the bill. we ended up taking it to the front. it seems like they might be short staffed at lunch? it wasnt crowded at all, but the waitress/hostess seemed to disappear a lot.

Best Chinese restaurant in the city of Santa Cruz. Very inexpensive, fresh(not just frozen cut mixed veg) and tasty. Don’t go looking for haute cuisine, but if you want good, cheap, local Chinese food, you cannot go wrong. The chow mein was very satisfying and huge, with actual vegetables included, and it was not oily. The Kung Pao tofu(spicy, covered in peanuts), Mu Shu veg, and the broccoli with cashews were also very fresh, with delicate flavors. We heard all of the dishes being prepared *after* we ordered — they weren’t sitting around under a heat lamp. We added chile oil as a topper because we like to kick up the heat — and happily chile oil and chile sauce are available on the tables. Also, there were 3 dim sum choices, including veg options! The décor is casual but don’t be put off. This is really a true local gem.

Simple, good Chinese food. I love this place because it’s conveniently close to where I live so I get take out from here often. I love their egg foo young dishes… and the soups are good too. Great wontons. Yummy General Chicken. Good eats. Not the healthiest eats. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Santa Cruz by far.

Cute hole-in-the wall Chinese food that is one of the only places to serve BBQ pork buns in the county. Their service leaves something to be desired, but let’s get to the heart of the matter. Coca-cola is served, from a can, without an accompanying glass. The temperature is satisfactory; akin to coming out of one of the mini refrigerators that carry bottles near the cash registers in grocery stores. While I applaud the can, the lack of a glass is a bit of disappointment. The fact that my companion and I were served water in non matching glasses also adds a point to their charm. On the whole, I would like my coke colder.

This place is better than the 3-star review average would have you believe. Every time I’ve ordered from this restaurant, the food has been good. The wor won-ton soup, lemon chicken, and hunan chicken are all excellent. The lemon chicken is served as a whole breast filet lightly breaded and fried, cut into strips, and served with the lemon sauce on the side. It’s nothing at all like the tiny pieces of dried out chicken surrounded by an inch of breading you’d find at, say, Panda Express. The only time I wasn’t thrilled with my meal was when I ordered the dinner combination for my ladypal and the peking duck for myself. Her beef and broccoli was a little off in texture and flavor, but everything else was solid. The peking duck had a few bones in the shredded duck meat, but it tasted good. I’ve eaten here a dozen times and never had a bad reaction to the food. There’s parking behind the restaurant, though the entrance to the lot can be easy to miss. Finding parking on the street can be a hassle from time to time.

Anyone who tells you this place is not the best Chinese in town is clueless. I have an apartment in China in a little town called Xiao Lou. This place is as close as you can get to the food in the little town I live in. I won’t bore you to tears with specific examples… just tell you this place is the real McCoy. If you want American Chinese food(and seriously, why would you want that???) go to Panda Express for crying out loud.

Well, I will only give them one star because I got the worst food poisioning of my LIFE after eating here. I knew something was amiss when my potstickers SQUIRTED oil/fat everywhere when I took a bite out of them. It tasted good going down, but not so great coming back up. This place is totally off the beaten path, there was nobody in there when we went there, and the service was not that good. I wish I could say something good about them, but I really can’t.
