Rubio’s

We were warmly greeted by Sawyer, and he took our order quickly and accurately. Food service was timely and efficient. The food tasted great, as always.
Rebecca was cleaning and sweeping most of the time while we were there, keeping the tables and floors looking great. She was very friendly, also.
Rubio’s is lucky to have both of them!

There’s nothing better than fish tacos and a beer, this place reminds me of going on vacation to Cabo San Lucas. The tacos and fish burritos are very good, the salsa is also good if I could I would eat her everyday the environment is casual it just feels good to be in the restaurant, and very reasonably priced.

You really do not get what you pay for. Baja fresh has better selections and at least you get a good size amount of food. With rubios, you don’t get much food at all. The food is pretty good but you get very little for the price. The environment is mediocre and the place is surrounded by other mediocre places lol

I’m not sure what is going on with this rubios. I’ve always loved rubios because of the service you get for a fast food kind of joint. Today was just not having to do with any of that. I ordered street tacos with rice and chips instead of beans. My plate only had chips. I told the server that I was suppose to have rice with it and the guy brings me out a «side» of rice. I looked at it and was in awe. They put my «side» of rice in a salsa cup. I’m not kidding, a freaking salsa cup. The guy saw my face and knew why I looked at it like that and asked if that was ok and I chuckled! No that is not ok! But he didn’t do anything about it. It was a slow day for them and my steak in the tacos were soooooo dry, it was like chopped up beef jerky. Yuck. It was like that powdered jerky you get in that chew tobacco looking container at a gas station. Good thing they have unlimited salsa!!! Because I know I wouldn’t get much if they didn’t!!!

I ordered two oaxacan shrimp taco plates for my mom and I.
When our order came to our table, one of the orders had avocado slices in it (like in the huge picture of it in the restaurant) and one did not, so one of the girls happily gave us a side of avocado. I was surprised how they didn’t notice that an ingredient was missing in one order because its the exact same thing…
It never hurts to try something new. I love their original fish taco, but the sauce for the oaxacan shrimp taco doesn’t match with my tastebuds in the end (I give it a ³⁄₅ for the taste). I’ll continue to come here for their original fish taco and good service.
Their chips are really good, but their pinto beans aren’t as good as Rosarito’s imo. It’s kind of tasteless but they’re not known for their beans in the first place so it’s not really a big deal haha.

Rubios is a pretty good chain but what makes this place great is the staff. I’ve been there a few times now but what I like is people like Pablo (I think that’s his name… bad with names) who naturally have a positive demeanor. He was the inspiration to write this review because he handled a big detailed order with a smile like it was fun to do and went out of his way to get it done quickly. It’s people like that that make it fun to come in and buy food from this store.

The food was good and the staff was very friendly, but it took a long time to get my food. It took 15 – 20 minutes to get one salad. They didn’t seem that busy. No one was in line or even at the counter when I went in. There were 5 orders that went out before mine, so it’s possible that I came right at the end of a rush.
If you’re looking to get in and out of there quickly, I’d say go somewhere else. If your not in a big rush, it would be fine.

Came to have lunch and wanted to try the new shrimp tacos. Placed my order at 2:08PM, waited until 2:38 before I went inside. Patiently waited 30 minutes and when I asked about my order the manager in the back said they didn’t have it. She just looked at me and the worker (Melissa, who was very helpful and courteous) and didn’t even offer to make my order. Thanks rubios for waisting my time.

I have been to this location many times now and every time I eat there the food is always meh… I go back there cuz I think it will be better but it’s not. I have been to other Rubio’s locations and the food comes out sooo much better. Perhaps they have a chef that just isn’t familiar with their recipes. The food is not put together well– it’s just slopped together. I usually get the gourmet shrimp taco plate and the tacos look sad and missing love. I just had their Oaxacan shrimp burrito and it was not proportioned evenly — one side had all the rice and the other all of the other ingredients. It was dry as well. I just had this burrito at another location a few weeks ago and it was spot on. The shrimp was not dry and the burrito was put together better. I wish this place would get it together– Cuz I am not sure I will be back if the food keeps coming out the same as it has been.

I really love Rubio’s. It’s delicious and my mouth is watering right now just thinking about it. The down fall lately has been that they continuously change their menu and its very disappointing. As soon as you find something that you like and look forward to getting it next time, it’s not on the menu the next month. The quality has also gone down. Maybe this is somehow related to the menu constantly changing? I have stopped going to Rubio’s as often because of this.

Had lunch here on Sunday. Ordered the surf and turf tacos. hmmmm…ok but not great. The lobster in the lobster taco was cold. The steak was extremely spicy and I had not added any salsa yet. Salsa bar is great, chips are great, place is clean and staff is friendly.

Had the mahi mahi tacos today. Sadly, they are always better in my head than in reality.

Second time I’ve been to this Rubio’s. I used to brush these restaurant’s off as another Baja Fresh but they’re nothing alike.
First off, their customer service is top notch. They nicely take your order, repeat it back and even suggest items if you can’t decide. Then, they bring your food to you and ask you if you need anything else like cutlery and salsa. That’s another thing, they have a salsa bar with some pretty good flavored.
My girlfriend loves the fact that they have soda fountain with Vanilla Coke.

This place made my heart so happy. I love that a chain restaurant can provide fresh, authentic fish tacos. Even their enchiladas were delicious! Been here more than once & it’s delist every time. Clean salsa bar, friendly staff. Authentic fish tacos!!! Nom nom

I’ve like Rubios for a number of years and am glad they don’t just keep the same items, but try out new fish taco and other lunch and dinner items.
The last visit we made was this past week after we spent a day at the beach so it was kind of something that just struck us (hey beach… fish tacos) probably should have gone to one at the beach, but I know this one and have never had an issue.
Sauces are great at the salsa bar and open drinks for refill. I personally just get three original fish tacos which tends to fill me up and put a smile on my face.

One of the birthday emails I received this year was a free entrée to Rubio’s. I met Schoolteacher outside the location in Valencia to take advantage of it. We hurried inside from the brisk night air, and stood in the line leading up to the register. The place was bright and clean, but fairly empty, with only a handful of other customers. It wasn’t too long before we stood face to face with the manager, who was working a register taking orders.
I handed her my coupon, and she cheerfully wished me a happy birthday. Schoolteacher ordered some fish tacos, and I went with the Salmon Burrito. We got a pair of drinks, and manager took my card, swiped it, and gave me my receipt, a pair of cups, and a big number on a stick. Schoolteacher took the cups and went to the beverage area to grab us some iced tea, and I went to find a cozy spot for our number on a stick.
They’ve got an indoor thatched roof bamboo cabana/​bar thingy that I sat underneath. It had a string of lights, and was all romantical and cozy. Schoolteacher and I caught up on our days apart, and chatted until our food arrived. Since there were only a few people in the restaurant, our food arrived fairly quickly. The manager who rang us up smiled as she delivered our meals to us.
My salmon burrito was cut in half and placed atop itself in an artistic fashion. It sat next to a large mound of tortilla chips. It was quite visually attractive. After the Unilocal photo I picked up half, and dug in. They were as delicious as they were pretty. Light and healthy.
I packed up the mountain of chips in a to-​go container and did the dishes. I then re-​filled the iced teas and we left.

Thank you Rubios! I’ll most definitely be back.

Came in the other day for the first time in a while, but that’s just an unfortunate coincidence. I always love Rubio’s. I love them so much that I have never really ordered anything else besides the steak Burrito Especial because it is so amazing. It’s a big burrito so it fills me up. The very first time I came in, I tried that and never looked back. I love the picante salsa; its a great combination of spice and flavor. Plus Rubio’s is one of the few places that has vanilla coke as a fountain drink, which I really like. But they also serve a few bottled beers which is a nice alternative sometimes.
Today, however, I was feeling a little frisky, so I ordered the Langostino lobster. I walked in and saw all the posters for it so I decided to give it a shot. Yessenia took our order and she said it was very popular. She was very friendly, engaging and had good customer service skills. She put away our high chair when we were done eating before I got a chance to. She was very attentive. We really enjoyed both the lobster burrito and the gourmet shrimp tacos. I typically don’t order seafood tacos or burritos but they were both very tasty. I would definitely order them again.
The customer service was great all around, from Yessenia at the cashier to Luis, the manager, who went around to all the tables to check in on his customers. You usually only get that at full service restaurants so it was a pleasant surprise here. All in all, it was another very good casual dining experience.

Good Rubio’s. Clean, friendly service, easy to find, and a manager who seemed to be on top of things (going around making sure things were clean, and done, helping his staff).
Plenty of patio dining tables but indoor seating is limited.
Not the speediest, but worth the wait.

I loves me some fish tacos! Had an entire dinner with drinks for just under $ 30. Can’t beat that with a stick folks. I had the original fish tacos plate and my usual Diet Coke which is enough food to satisfy the hungry in me. There fish is light and made with their handmade batter that I guess they make right there. It seemed fresh and goooood!
It’s a good clean spot and frequented by families. What I really liked was the professional and courteous young man that took our order and then carried the tray to our table as a courtesy. Very nice style buddy! His name was Gaytan and I hope corporate sees this and gives him some kudos because I like good service.
