great place to go get salmonella they just served me raw chicken tenders and a bowl of over cooked pasta with over cooked shrimp worst experience ever at a «restaurant» stay away! i should report to health dept.

Pros: Jeff (owner) was attentive and accommodating. Drinks were good (bloody mary and cosmo). Beer cheese burger was good. NFL package with lots of tvs and speakers to hear the the game. This place is huge.
Cons: burger was over cooked. Took 40 minutes to get our food, cook said it was because he had to make the chips fresh, at least half the chips weren’t cooked but he did offer more which were cooked but didn’t taste like vinegar or salt. Maybe that’s why the fries on the other dish were cold? Ran out of stuffed burgers yesterday, dunno why more weren’t made today there are only a few of us here. It’s cold, we both went to the car to get our jackets at one point. No hot water in the bathroom didn’t help cold hands, and it was even colder in the restroom than in the restaurant.

Great place for a beverage. Bartender Jeff was awesome. Even let me taste test some beers. Pumpkin beers was great. All about service

Been here 20 minutes listening to the drunk owner wax on with his friends. Meanwhile I have yet to see a server or bartender. I get better service from my wireless carrier.

Not bad! I had a BLT. Sofie had a turkey and bacon… and we both thought our sandwiches were «classically good» — though it took «forever and a day» to prepare them. I think the kitchen crew were hit with a big slug of people… but that’s okay! They didn’t compromise time on quality so we were happy… though I was almost ready to get up and start busting chairs and throwing things because my sandwiches did not come when I wanted them.
The sandwiches came with some amazing fries! They were wedges of giant potatoes with the skins — perfectly cooked and very tasty. Unfortunately, Sofie and I were stuffed with our huge sandwiches (they didn’t skimp on the bacon!) so we ate only one or two of these fries just to confirm they were good.
We got a clam shell box to take the rest home for the chickens. They always enjoy being remembered when we go out to eat. I often wonder what people think when they see Sofie and I dump the remains of our meal into a single box.
JJ’s Bar is one of those «cave like» places. Dark — lots of wood painted brown and TV screens all over the place. This is a place to go to drink beer and eat bar food. They had a «special»: one Pabst for 3.25 or three Pabst for $ 9. I really like the idea of mounting a bar stool and ordering three beers — but I can’t imagine drinking Pabst unless we are in a post apocalyptic period and all the bad guys drank all the IPA… but I think JJ’s can work something out for the rest of us in the here and now.

Came here for a packers vs 49ers game — the service and people are very responsive and friendly. I know I’ll be coming back here for their trivia night and perhaps some of their country music nights! It has a nicer bar atmosphere and where else can you get «not your fathers root beer»??

I’ve never been to JJ’s until Thursday. Thursday night this place goes crazy! Line dancing, djs, drink specials. This is my new favorite restaurant/​bar out here. I came back on Saturday and had dinner. The stuffed hamburger was the best burger i have ever had. I brought my son here and he loved being able to see college games and ate every last bit of his bacon wrapped hot dog. It’s a challenge getting him to eat anything Madison and Nicole were our main servers and they did an excellent job and took great care of our party of 4. I will definitely be back 1 – 2 times every week. This place is GOOD!

Went here with another couple for dinner on Saturday night before going to the mark taper in LA. I ordered the stuffed burger and it was the best burger I think I have ever had! Everyone loved their food and the service was great. I felt pricing was very reasonable, especially when compared to other restaurants in the scv. The owner, Jeannie, came out to say hi and helped us choose a wine (nice wine list here). 5 star food, 4 for décor. Thanks, Jeannie! We will be back.

The restaurant was pretty empty at lunch. I was pleasantly surprised by my salad. No complaints. I’ll be back to try something else!

Went in on a Saturday night had blast with karaōke. The guy doing karaōke was very professional and did an amazing job BUT the service was absolutely horrible!!! It took 45 mins to even have someone come over to the table and that was only because I waved someone down. The food is terrible. I don’t know how you mess up a house salad but jj’s did just that. But again the karaōke on Saturday night was amazing

Unfortunately JJ’s can’t decide what it wants to be. Nice restaurant. .. dive bar. .. (does the hand weighing thing). I had dinner there with some friends. Upon arriving I was taken immediately into the new dining area. The restaurant is nicely decorated and I was impressed by the new menu. Most of the offerings were far from the original dive bar faire that used to be served at the old Mulligan’s. I had the beignets for dessert and they were certainly yummy. I also had the bacon wrapped dirty dog, which had been recommended to me, also very good. Beignets and hot dogs, there’s that whole restaurant/​dive bar combo.
After eating I walked around the corner to the bar area. That part is pretty much the same old Mulligan’s. I was surprised to see the electronic dart board and same old bar counter. Again, reastaurant/​dive bar. It’s like the owners are trying to open something new and keep the old Mulligan’s crowd at the same time, but not succeeding. Don’t get me wrong. Mulligan’s was a beloved dive bar for many in the SCV for many years. It had that homey quality that made you feel welcome but wasn’t too divey that it made you want to leave and never come back. I would love to see another successful gastropub in the SCV, and I think that is what the owners were shooting for here. Unfortunately the new JJ’s doesn’t work. The result comes off more of a split personality than a quality fusion.
Good points: food is good. I would go back again to try some other items on the menu. Drinks served to me at the table weren’t weak.
Bad points: our server was missing in action most of the night. We had a large party and figured that we would get more attention because of that and the fact that there were only 5 or 6 other diners there that night, but no. The server rarely appeared and we had to ask one of the managers twice to send her out.

The food and drinks were good. The service? Not so much. But not the waitress’ fault. Every time I saw her she was literally running. They are understaffed right now. Definitely has potential though. Will try again in the near future …

I stopped in tonight with my son to get a bite and watch the dodger game. This was our first time at JJ’s. The food and atmosphere was great and we will definitely be back. Our server was Madison and she did a great job. Even though we were giving her a hard time she was on top of her business.

Our family held the celebration of life for my husband at JJ’s on Sat 3÷7÷2015. They had everything prepared and it was so professional you would have thought we were at long established restaurant instead of a newly own establishment. My husband would have been so impressed. In fact everyone there and there was over 100 people, were all impressed at how it turned out. The food was amazing and the variety of indoor and awesome outdoor seating fit everyone’s needs. The owners Jeannie and Jeff were so kind and caring. I was very nervous about getting everything right and they would meet with me at a moments notice and never did they get irritated.
Our whole family highly recommends JJ’s Bar and Grill for any gathering or just a fun time out.

Once and done
JJ’s is my neighborhood’s bar and grill, replacing the old Mulligan’s in the small Vista Village shopping area. I wanted to write a good review… I really did. But overpricing for weak drinks and meh food during Happy Hour doesn’t cut it in Awesometown.
The restaurant was empty and the bar was nearly so. After 11 weeks of being open it looked like word had already gotten out. While the owner sure did want us to like the place, it’s all about the food and the drinks, and it can’t be way overpriced. It’s not the marina, and it’s not downtown. But it sure is priced like it.
Don’t even go once. Unless you love disappointment.
I guess I’ll have to see what the next owner does with the location.

This place is awesome. The staff here are extremely helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly. I ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese and is was a very tasty dish. Perfect amount of cheese and very generous with the lobster. My fiancé had the chicken salad sandwich. Very refreshing dish. Not too sweet, no over mayonnaise on this bad boy.
Friendly, good food, good beer selection, good prices. Would recommend this place to anybody.

The business hours were not on either the web site or on Unilocal.So I stopped by the restaurant to find out the hours. Opens Sunday thru Wednesday 11:30am to 11pm.
Thursday thru Saturday 11:30 to 2 am.

Total comfort food! Delicious! Hubs & I both had the Wedge Salad, he had the Shephard’s Pie & I had the Three Cheese Grilled Cheese on thick egg bread with Cajun Fries. They only have their Soft Opening Menu at this point, but we got to see the full menu, which is coming!
Banquet Room is still under construction, but will be a fantastic option for parties here in the SCV! Definitely going back! So nice to have local Owners & not have a corporate chain!

Came in for lunch and really impressed with the friendliness, food and service. I had the Dirty Dog, which is a tasty bacon wrapped served on a pretzel bun. Soooo yummy. Tell your friends!
