Great mongolian restaraunt! Food was laid out neatly. Dining area was clean. Server was courteous and visited the table several times. I’ll definitely visit again

Meh. They have a good concept going on here but the service and the food just isn’t worth it. I would much rather go to the Mongolian Bbq at Great Mall for this type of food for similar price. It’s ayce here, but one plate of food is usually pretty satisfying. They don’t have a huge array of sauces or anything so the food has a pretty monotone flavor. and the vegetables and meat they have out aren’t very fresh. The shrimp they had out had a questionable taste once it was cooked. They do have side dishes like fried rice, fried chicken, soup, and fried wontons, that adds a nice touch. The chefs don’t cook the food long enough on the grill either or the grill isn’t hot enough, not sure which one, but my broccoli was still raw on my plate when I got it. The people working here are also on the rude side, like I wanted to get more noodles from the station because I got too many vegetables the first time, and they stopped me saying that I didn’t finish my previous bowl of food? Like the place is an ayce. So I should be able to get whatever I would like? I don’t think the food here is anything special. Great Kahns is more worth it in my opinion.

If I had to guess, this is one of the older Mongolian BBQ joints in the Bay. Definitely not as clean as a lot of places and smaller too. But what I think saves this place is a great selection of ingredients and solid service. They have standard staples — chicken, beef, pork. But they also got further down the line tofu, shrimp, and imitation crab. Their fried rice down the line also has shrimp in it. I’m pretty happy with their selection of veggies and sauces as well. I think 10.50 for all you can eat isn’t too bad. Although it’s hard to bring yourself to come here when it’s next to Orenchi and other giants. But was definitely a good choice for lunch my way.

I stopped going to the Mongolian in Mountain view and so sad I decided to go in search of a new Mongolian adventure in doing so I found UB in Santa Clara off of homestead. This place is clean, fresh and delicious! Recommended it and I don’t mind driving all the way out here if it means having a clean place where food is fresh and service is great.

How the eff does this place have 4 stars on Unilocal? The bf and I wanted to be fatties and grub on some Mongolian BBQ. Initially we wanted Su’s but we remembered that we wanted to give this spot a try. Based off of the reviews and pictures, I was naïve enough to believe it would be mind blowing. We experienced the complete opposite of what we anticipated. Perhaps our first warning should have been how empty the place was. Then the girl at the counter looked like she wanted to be anywhere else other than at her job. Signs everywhere and yet we were blinded by our hunger. Anyways as for the food selection, when I opened the containers they didn’t feel very cold. Also, their appetizers and fried rice were definitely not warm so who knows how long that food has been sitting there for. Hopefully I don’t get sick from the lack of these people caring to keep their food at a proper temperature. As for the food itself it was really poor quality and the meat was super stringy when cooked. The sauces were pathetic and were completely diluted with water. To top it all off, at the end the older woman tending to the food bar area was busy picking food out of her mouth with a toothpick while standing over the ingredients… wtf eeewww. As for the ambience of the place, it was awkwardly really quiet. The bf and I felt like we had to whisper… super weird. Overall, spend the extra 5 bucks and do yourself a favor and go to Su’s a couple blocks over.

Food is excellent with a lot of variety. AYCE for $ 10.95 dinner, great price. We were seated pretty quickly and our empty plates were cleared quite quickly too. The cook cooks with some flair and definitely worth my $ 2 tip. Ambience is average, it’s not fancy but it’s very clean and orderly. Would return.

Food: 5 stars Lots of variety, very many choices to pick from. If you feel like chicken, you can get chicken, if you feel like beef, you can get beef, if you feel like pork, you can get pork, or any combo of the 3. There’s even shrimp! Lots of veggies to choose from, I especially like the pineapple. People complain about not having enough sauces here, but they have more that 8, which is more than enough for me. I like how they have recommended guidelines for sauces at the end, so you’re not left confused. Drink variety is pretty standard, with normal Coke products, but they also have a cooler with other things like Gatorade and Izze’s if you don’t want soda. Also really like being able to see your food being made, the chef is very good. Price: 5 stars AYCE for $ 10.50(and a lunch special for $ 8.99) is a great deal. It comes with a fountain drink too! And free fried wontons, soup, ice cream or rice. Other buffet or AYCE places easily run over $ 20 per person. Service: 4 stars The cashiers and workers are all Asian. While this doesn’t concern me personally, I can tell that other English speaking customers have difficulty communicating. This is not a restaurant with waiters serving you, this is a serve yourself place, so don’t expect too much service. The cashiers are all nice and greet you at the door. Environment: 4 stars This place used to be a drive through fast food place, so the parking situation is a little awkward, but there’s more than enough room. Interior design could be improved on, orange and green is an ugly color scheme. Recently, it’s gotten better; they’ve added blinds and small paintings. It’s very quiet in here also; wish they had music playing. The bathroom is nice, if sparse, but it’s clean and it works, which is all that matters to me. Overall: 5 stars While the environment and service could use work, this is a restaurant and reviews should be primary focused on food. The food is great and the price makes it better. Would come back again.

We are hoping that the new tenant in this space is a winner since there has been a lot of turnover in the recent past. The Mongolian BBQ concept is popular with us and glad it is close to our home. Compared to other similar places the overall experience is on par. We did notice that the meat was partially thawed and led us to heaping large clumps into our bowl for cooking. I guess this was good news /bad news. Also, to me, it always seems that the cooked outcome pretty much tastes the same no matter what you put in your cooking bowls. UB was no exception, similar cooked outcome but quite yummy nonetheless. Finally, we thought that the staff was nice and efficient. We will frequent UB many times so I hope they do well.

I recently ate at this place as I was in the mood for Mongolian BBQ. The pros: 1) Good food. As usual, they have all the different choices of mushrooms and pineapples that you can put into your bowl. Also, all the sauces. 2) Ice Cream. The cons: 1) It is pricey. They charge $ 10.50. Period! For that, it is way too pricey for lunch or late lunch, as in my case. They should have one price for lunch and another for dinner as is accustomed at all the other places that I have been to before. 2) Service was so-so. The one employee was friendly, when you entered the place and sat down. But, that was as much service that you would get. While I was there eating, he spent the entire time with his head down on his cell phone. Yes, the entire time! I know that it was around 4PM when I and one other table showed up to the place. But, at the very least, you could go around and ask how is the food. He obviously didn’t care. 3) There was no chicken. Yes, no chicken! Somehow, they did not refill the chicken. What? Your menu board lists that you have chicken. I won’t be back due to both the price and the service. I would much prefer going to the one on Castro Street in Downtown Mountain View. At least, I get both good service at a great price.

We haven’t had Mongolian food in a while so we decided to try a new place that opened in Santa Clara. UB Mongolian Grill is located in what used to be a fast food restaurant so the layout would look strangely familiar and odd at the same time. You can still see where the drive through window is supposed to be. But it’s still a very clean and neat place with plenty of seating. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a young girl who was more on the shy side, but her service was attentive and friendly. The one criticism I would give her is that she should give people more direction upon entering the establishment, like showing them to a table instead of letting guests blindly do as they please. For our specific encounter, she appeared to be waiting for our cue on what to do and that made the greeting a little awkward. As for the interior design, the«bar» with all of the ingredients for you to customize your own noodle bowl is smaller than some places, but everything was neatly labeled and clean. Because you prep your own entrée, each dish’s flavor is subjective, but my hubby and I greatly enjoyed our food. The really big plus that sets UB Mongolian Grill apart from other restaurants is that they use fresh protein instead of frozen, thus allowing the meats to soak up the sauces very well and pack a lot of flavor. To point out some cons, we would say that their selection of ingredients was much more limited than others. I personally would have liked to see some bell peppers and other vegetables. Also, their house soup was very watered down and barely had any sustenance in it, with 75% of it just flavored broth. However, for the price of $ 10.50, not including drinks, UB Mongolian Grill is a must try. The cooks are very friendly and the food is both fresh and clean. We will most definitely be back in the future.

I’ve never been to an ayce Mongolian bbq place before so I decided to give this place a try. For 10.50 you can create unlimited plates of noodles with a variety of meats and veggies. They also have some egg soup, fried wontons, rice and ice cream. It’s a great deal of you come in with a big appetite! My tip to create the best noodle plate is to put enough sauce. Make sure to put enough or else your noodles will taste a little bland. They have a guide that gives you suggestions for which sauces to mix together. I made the mistake of not putting enough sauce but my friend followed their suggestions and really enjoyed her plate.

This place opened up three months ago at the old location of KFC. Its your typical Mongolian place where you choose your meats, veggies, add noodles if you like, and then drizzle over your concoction of sauces or follow their suggestions that is listed above the sauces. UB didn’t have any lamb, but thats ok. I was feeling more like chicken today. Also, they offer ice cream, soup, rice, and fried wantons. Fried wantons tasted really old. Place is clean, bright, and affordable.$ 10.50 for All You Can Eat dinner on a Friday.

This was my first ever Mongolian Grill experience ever!(Where have I been all my life? I don’t even know.) I came here on a Wednesday night around 6:30 pm with two others. Pros: –clean environment! Upon entrance, everything was brightly lit and super clean. It could be because it’s not busy, but it was nicely kept! –clean ingredients! All the vegetables there were on point! All my favorite kinds! If you don’t like vegetables… this place might not be for you. –nice service. Girl was nice to help us move our table because we wanted to be closer to an outlet, and she was attentive in restocking the frozen meats. The chef is also super quick in cooking! In less than 2 minutes. Seriously! –cheap price! $ 10.95? Holy… I stuffed my face with 3 plates of food! Cons: –limited sides. Other places I saw on Unilocal had egg rolls and what not. UB only has rice, egg drop soup(very mediocre), wonton chips and ice cream(too liquidy). –meh sauces. They have a lot of different oils and chili sauces, but I’m surprised they don’t have sesame oil! Their«UB soy sauce» and«UBBBQ» doesn’t taste any different. Tips/observations: –add more sauces before you let them cook! When they cook it, it dilutes so much I felt sad eating my food. –parking here is limited, but definitely don’t an issue when we came. –kids under 3 eat free! –shrimp is an additional $ 1. Not sure if this is AYCE or a pack given to you? –restroom near the front entrance! Overall, I wasn’t too impressed. maybe because it was too dead quiet in here…

When you work with someone who’s an olympic athlete, you know they can power the calories. So the pick from said co worker was all you can eat. I normally dont love buffet/ayce type places but it seems some Mongolian and Indian are ok. UB turned out to be fairly solid. Multiple rounds of beef, pork, noodles, green onions, cabbage, and water chestnuts. Soy, UBBBQ, garlic, chili oil and teriyaki for the sauce. Tasty. For $ 10.50US you can load up as much as you want. They offerent rice, soup and soft serve too but i disnt try them, just the main event. If you need llots of food fast for not too much money, UB is a good pick. Oh and UB = UlaanBataar for the capital of Mongolia. A piece of trivia i have no idea why i know.

Best Mongolian bbq I’ve had in the area. Hands down. The sauces are tasty and the noodles are good — nice and thick and chewy. The veggies and meat are all fresh and tasty and they have ice cream too! The only downside is the thing they use to hold all of the meats and veggies — the salad bar design makes it hard to pick things up sometimes. Definitely on my list of places to go when craving something tasty.

I needed a new mongolian place near my house &UB Mongolian Grill finally opened. I’m happy to report that it will indeed satisfy your cravings, all you can eat; different types of meats, lots of veggies to choose from & a variety of sauces. Plus, the price isn’t too bad. Some things I dislike is the glass above the noodles/veggies. It’s very difficult to get your noodles without dragging them across the countertop. I dislike that as it is a little unsanitary in my eyes, but then again, the glass IS there for sanitation purposes. So, prepare to be ninja-like getting noodles. Another thing is the noodles themself. I dislike the texture and thickness. They are so heavy and don’t hold the sauces very well at all. Not my favorite noodles ever. But the pros outweigh the cons, they have water chestnuts! I was honestly worried they weren’t going to while they were under construction and advertising for their opening. But they do! Yay! I also love that they have a soft serve ice cream machine! Something for management to think about adding is a topping bar? I know it’s all you can eat, so that may be more expensive for them, but it would make the ice cream a lot more enjoyable… At least some cherries or sprinkles… An «Ice Cream Bar» or something to suffice would be a nice addition. All in all, I will most definitely be back in the future & would absolutely recommend this new place to anyone who likes a mongolian style, all you can eat buffet!
