The Backyard Factory

After I wrote the review on Unilocal,we got the call back from them the next day. There seems to be a problem with my husband’s phone. They claimed had been trying to reach us since Monday. hummm~ anyway, a subcontractor came and fixed the slide with these 4 or 5 inches long screws with the washers on.

We purchased a play structure and a trampoline last week. It was modified to help our autistic son be a little safer. They called the next day and scheduled for Saturday. They arrived during the time frame and the installer worked from 10 till 530 when he finished both builds. The kids where stoked. The structure is perfect for our small play area. The trampoline fit nicely as well. I can’t say they are the cheapest, yet My father in law and I built a 400 Walmart special and wasted two days assembling it for 6 months of use. The structure we bought from the backyard factory should last the kids till there sick of it or just get to cool for swings.

Poor and rude customer service after paying your money.
Ordered a $ 1300 trampoline and paid $ 199 for install service. Installation window was from 1−4pm. Waited and no one showed up at 4pm. Called and was told they would show up 4:30 — 4:45. Waited and still no show at 5pm. Called again (they never call you even if they know they were not going to show up on time) and the boss just blamed everything from over scheduling to traffic (not their fault and won’t guarantee their arrival). He was very rude and we were told 5:20 — 5:30, take it or re-​schedule.
If we know it will be this kind of service, we will never order from them.

Story time Unilocalers…(and you know you love my stories)…Son is turning 2 in a few weeks and the birthday bash is at the house. One year old bday parties are for adults, but second birthday parties are for the kids… if I don’t do something for the rugrats, my walls and entire house will be a disaster zone. think… think…think…Need something for the kid to do… especially to burn off energy… where in the genetic code is energy? Dont think I have time to mutate that gene so I looked online for backyard swing sets… too confusing to measure space, and I couldnt tell online on a dinky 2×2 picture what my kid likes… I take him to the park and he likes everything… but my back yard isnt big enough to have an entire playground in my back yard. Wifey is pressuring me to take her everywhere and its a Saturday after a long day at work for me… Wife did some research and found Backyard Factory. Open till 5 on a Saturday… figured they were crazier than me, so I hoped in the car and drove over.
Their showroom is AWESOME. They had all these different types of play sets all around the store behind the trampolines (which I didnt have a chance to jump on). 4:37pm and we wanted to just browse. I get approached by a pleasant lady who I thought was going to pull the sales pitch. Im thinking lady, I just want to make my wife happy to show effort that I made it out here on a Saturday to look for playsets… but we just started talking… We got in the store and my SON WENT NUTS! Loved every play structure. Went down the slides and up the slides, he was able to run around, swing on swing sets… really got to try out the play sets. Christina talked about play sets, popular additions and things she said werent too popular. Theeir play sets are solid and strong… made of cedar wood and strong plastic… not going to fall apart in a year… these are things that I can put on a church playground and it will last a lifetime… We told her I needed to ideally do the measurements in the back yard and she have given me all the info I needed. She stayed late to make sure all our questions were asked on a Saturday… this is why i love small businesses who have passion for their product and their services. I dont like dealing with Costco or Toys R Us, or any other big box retailer when it comes to making an investment like this! I want my son’s playset to be strong and sturdy… Keep you Unilocalers updated…

UPDATE: The owner/​manager called a few days later, came out and measured the yard, sent us a quote. The smallest entry level playset, including the rubber mulch, installation, etc etc is over $ 5K so get your credit card ready!

Wow! I’m striking out this week, writing nothing but bad reviews :-\. We went in person last Sunday afternoon to this place and spent a good hour plus trying out all the different playsets, discussing build options, rubber mulch chips, etc. The guy who was there (Gordon) is a former Army Ranger, so he and my Marine hubby hit it off.

. I took off from work over an hour early, drove like a g-​damm bat out of hell to pick up my toddler from daycare and whip into the driveway at 5:30 pm. No sign of Gordon, nada blip. No calls. No emails. I called the shop at 6 pm and again 6:45 pm, left voicemails… no return call of course since they closed already for the night. Hey, I’m not a jerk about appts, I know sometimes things go awry during the day and suddenly you have a conflict at the last minute. BUT YOU OWE THE CUSTOMER A CALL WHO IS WAITING FOR YOU…
These guys are HORRID, I don’t care how good the company is that they sell for. Corporate will hear from me in the morning. What a friggin waste of my evening sitting around waiting «for Godot». He should be named Godot, not Gordon, he never comes around… Army Ranger. Hmph. A true Ranger would NEVER be late or MISS completely a booked appointment.

we got a structure from there and was very impressed on how they worked with us in our very small space. Most other playsystems have canned structures not allowing alot of flexiblity for unique yards. The worker who set it up did a great job and was very nice to my kids, who were gawkiing the whole time. They also sell rubber mulch there and it is some of the best priced stuff around.
