Yeeeek! Korean food in southbay really stinks but this was one of the very few places I frequented. Today — for some reason food was really off. The side dishes were too sour and not right. The SDB was so bland I put the sour kimchee in for flavor and BBQ meat looked terrible. What is going on?! Me thinks the lady in the kitchen changed as with all of these small Asian restaurants. Food was not good at all. When they try to fix it by adding dashida — you might as well give me all the salt and msg. Might consider coming back for their jook(porridge) — those were quite nice to have but the banchan(if remains too sour) will not be good.

Let’s keep this short and sweet. I don’t post reviews unless it is horrendous or excellent. What I got: Mix tofu soup How was it? Taste: amazing! Different kind of tofu from most places, less pudding-like and more sponge-like. It’s rare to have a restaurant’s offering that tastes like your mum’s cooking. Side-dish were average, could include fish cake or squid. Service: Contrary to what you’re reading here, I find that service to be better than the average chinese restaurant. Waters are not automatically refilled, but that is fine. Interior: enough for 30 people. Average. Maybe add a TV or play some music? Hiring a waiter to clean up the tables plus setting up table is recommended. Coming back here again!

So far my favorite Korean restaurants, not only because they have more choices on their menu, many comfort dishes, also the flavors are really good. I rarely see porridge dishes at a Korean restaurants in the bay area. This is the perfect place to go if you’re looking for Korean comfort food. On the heavier side they have all the popular beef, ribs dishes, and bibimba; on the lighter side they have hot/cold noodles, hot tofu, and porridge. The service can be a bit slow at times, they are understaffed. But it’s so worth it when you get your food. I’m coming back here for sure.

You must try their mushroom porridge. It is to die for. Reasonable prices, the female servers are not very friendly but that’s most Korean places… but the guy there(I think he’s the owner) he’s super customer friendly. I have tried the chicken/ginseng porridge which was ok… it was bland and didn’t taste like chicken or ginseng… but the mushroom is beyond exceptional and filling!

Nicest owner and love the food. Everything is delicious! My personal favorite is the spicy sea bass soup.

Naeng Myun — 4 stars. Ban Chan — 4 stars. Service — 4 stars. In short: Solid! Every few months, there is this craving that builds up and I head out to get some Korean cold noodles with or without company. The bounce on Korean cold noodles, the refreshing broth, and the ban chans are what makes up the stars here. Portion was nice, the ban chans were nice, service was quick(after the initial wait) and friendly(refilled my sprouts even though I was a party of 1). The only slight drawback was there wasn’t a lot of topping on my $ 12 noodles. However, this place proved solid for naeng myun cravings :)

I heart this place! not only because the food here tastes really good, but the owner also looks like one of my favorite actor! I’d say the similarity is like 98.45%. We ordered small dishes — 3 stars grilled fish — 5 stars shortrib — 4 stars hot beef soup — 4.8 stars my friends had the tofu soup, seemed very good too. Originally we had planned to go to SushiOsushi, but the line was too huge, I’m glad we discovered this place! Will definitely be back.

I got the kimchi fried rice which was so good. perfectly spicy n portioned dish. however the service made the lunch a very dissatisfactory experience. the waitress kept talking loudly the entire time and had FULL conversations with 2 separate customers. I wouldn’t have minded except she forgot to bring out water n the side dishes. the table next to us had an immensely hard time trying to get her attention to refill the side dishes as well as trying to get the check and take out boxes. bottom line: great food, despicable service

Worst service ever. I came for a Light dinner and ordered the watery, non effervescent kimchi stew which tasted of salt and lightly fermented cabbage and pork. Light as in, I could have made it at home and cooked it for 2 min in a pot without letting it meld and served it at home. i complained telling the waiters about my problem of it not being seasoned well enough and she continues to argue with me. She said that was the way of the stew. No, I’ve have Then she asked if I’ve ever had kimchi stew before and where I ate it at on this street. Then she asked me if I’m from the area! I’m born and raised here and I told her 2 times that this wasn’t an argument and All I wanted was the see if they could season it more. As a restaraunt owner know how hard this business can be and I am not the kind of customer to stir problems. I just wanted to eat and go! I can’t believe how many time she argued with me and while in was writing this she came over again! I was going to just pay even though they took away my food. But after the 3rd Argument im out. I truly dont get Korean people and how they do business.

Really good food. The narng myun was very tasty — light and refreshing. The man doo was crispy and savory. My daughter loved her tofu soup. My sons loved the fried rice and the bulgogi. My husband enjoyed his porridge. We will definitely return.

I love this place for korean porridge, which I feel like they have monopoly in . but the service for the last few times have been lacking! And I speak Korean so I don’t how all the non-Koreans have fared. We used to come here late at night for many years and then stopped when we had kids. I feel like their service has deteriorated within the last 6 years. Maybe it’s because we come in at lunch time now, but even if we come before the big rush the service has been really slow. They rarely come check on us more so than other Korean restaurants. If they improve their service, I will definitely re-write the review. Otherwise, I like their food selection and variety.

Ummm, I don’t know how I have eaten at so many Korean restaurants but have still never gotten good KBBQ. This isn’t a comment on the quality of KBBQ I’ve eaten, more like a comment on me always ordering naeng myun at every place I go. LOL. Maybe someday??? But this place’s mul naeng myun is amazing! The broth is very meaty and flavorful. So tangy that you probably don’t need to drop in any vinegar, just some of that mustard to your liking. They also give you toasted sesame seeds on the side for you to sprinkle in yourself, which is like icing on the cake. Banchan is delicious too, but not really the main event for me. So guess who has a new favorite place?(I feel like I have a new favorite every like two places I go. :|)

Usually we come here to get naeng myun because it’s one of the better places around. I finally decided to try the porridge since it’s in the restaurant name and all the porridges are featured on the first page of the menu. I’M SOGLAD I DID! The mushroom porridge was so incredibly good. It’s unlike Chinese porridge which is what I’m used to in that this version is more chunky but smooth at the same time and has tons of green onions throughout. It comes with a cold radish/onion soup which can be a little strange because of the temperature difference but it’s a nice balance actually. You also get the small sweet beans and the soy sauce beef. I feel like these and all the other side dishes you get go well to offset the creaminess of the porridge. The panchan tasted better today than I remembered. They make it the way I like it with a thicker sauce consistency. Also, the restaurant doesn’t seem to get too packed so you should definitely come here if the wait at Sushi O Sushi or 99 Chicken is too long.

Porridge is really good here and comes with its own set of side dishes that match the porridge. The chicken ginseng porridge was really good. The yuk kae jang was a hit too. I’d come back.

I had the ginseng chicken porridge. It is quite pricey at $ 11.99 given the amount of chicken strips in the dish. I could not really taste the ginseng too. The dish came with some marinated peanut and slices of meat(chicken or beef… I can’t really tell) soaked in some type of salty sauce(some variation of soy sauce). Add the sauce to your porridge for additional taste! This place is ok, I would come here again only if I am particularly craving for porridge.

Sui Tofu is one of my staple korean joints, depending on what i’m looking for. if i want bbq meats, i definitely have other places i prefer. soon dubu? i almost always head to SGD tofu house. but if i want juk(korean congee/porridge), Duk Mandoo Gook(Rice cake and dumpling soup), or Yuk Ge Jang(Spicy beef soup), this is the place to get it. my korean friend especially likes the duk mandoo gook because it is reminiscent of childhood home cooking. and i’ve never had a problem with the service. they are slow at times, but i think that’s because this is a relatively small family operation.

Hmm. so this was a difficult restaurant to rate. But I have to give it a 2 star. The food is good, but I’ve really had better experiences at better prices for Korean food. Went here because 99 chicken didn’t open until noon. We came around 11:40am for lunch. We ordered the pork bulgogi, beef bulgogi, hot tofu soup and seafood pancake. The appetizers that came out were good. They were generous with them, nothing special, but tasty. They were what you would expect. Now both bulgogis are nearly $ 20 a dish which is SO expensive compared to my favorite Korean joints. The taste and flavor also isn’t as great. The spicy pork has a thick paste stuck to the meat that wasn’t a taste that I enjoyed. The beef bulgogi was alright, not as caramelized as I am use to. The tofu soup was good — pretty standard. The only thing that I would say is better than average was the seafood pancake, it was lighter with a more eggy flavor which I enjoyed. But my ultimate consensus would be, this wasn’t the best Korean food I’ve had and for the prices I paid — I’d gladly go elsewhere! Omagari SJ still takes it all! The service was also very pushy and abrupt as well.

SUITOFU One of the more unique Korean restaurants in Little Korea, on El Camino in Santa Clara. We ordered the fish roe rice, which had soft, chewy rice, and fish roe, but not much else. Comfort food, but would have definitely been better if sashimi was added, like at other Korea restaurants. The skate wing fish cold noodles were quite good, although the dish was was certainly lacking a sizable amount of fish and featured more veggies. Although the entire noodle dish was drenched with spicy red sauce/soup, it was surprisingly a very refreshing dish, as the sauce was very sweet. Get ready to eat a lot of cold buckwheat noodles!!! Next time, I would would be interested in trying their black rice porridge.

Wasn’t hungry whatsoever, but my girl was craving tofu soup as usual, so off we went. Upon entering around 8pm, we noticed that the place was completely empty except for one other table. I didn’t really give a rat’s ass, since I was there just to be good company(hold your laughter!). We were given menus and she scoured the food part of the menu like most normal people, while my eyes went straight to the beer section. She found a combo deal for $ 17 or thereabouts for a tofu soup and a small order of galbi. Perfect! Girl hates meat and I wasn’t that hungry, but nothing’s ever perfect, is it? The waitress said in a not so kind tone that the combo was too small to share and not looking to engage in any more conversation with her, we just smiled and asked for more time. When she returned, I ordered the galbi tang, only to be told five minutes later, they were out. Ended up getting the tofu beef soup. Sometimes things work out amazingly, sometimes they just don’t. The banchan here was really fresh! Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the tofu. Had an off putting scent to it when our bowls of soup were brought to the table and my suspicions were raised even more when I tasted the tofu, but I’m not sure if it’s just a different variety, since I’m no expert when it comes to the wonderful world of tofu. All I know is that it wasn’t too wonderful here. The flavor of the broth was fantastic at least. With so many other options for Korean in the area, you won’t see me in here again. Funny how we spent less after the lady made an issue of what we were ordering, since I decided to pass on the overpriced beer, as much as I love a cold drink. I was so annoyed with the service that I almost spit in my own tofu soup! I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t start drinking.
