Proof you should Unilocal a place before eating at it. Got orange chicken, rice and chow mein and all of it sucked to the extreme. Chicken had some really odd chicken flavor going on, rice had a bad texture as did the noodles. I done there messed up

I love this place. Near my home and the food tastes good. Way better than any other Chinese fast food. I wish I could go more often, but I tend to work late.

You come here for the convenience. They’re in a location with very few competitors and its fast. It’s like Panda Express but not nearly as big and because they don’t move the kind of volume like Panda, by definition, it’s not as good. Price is similar though so either they are overpriced or Panda is under priced.

Disgusting. Felt like I was eating plastic. Lowest quality Chinese food I have ever had and totally overpriced. Too bad there is nothing else to eat around here that is quick.

Everything here taste like yesterday’s left overs. The fried rice and chicken is very hard to chew. I also found several bone fragments in my chicken. I usually visit a restraurant at least twice before writing a review, and i’ve been disappointed both times here. The price here is equivalent to Panda but quality is several leagues lower

This place is great for fast food — during lunch they have the items prepared and you just selected what you want. I really like their Pad Thai Chicken and their spicy pork. Parking can be a challenge during lunch time.

I like this place for mainly 1 thing. The teriyaki chicken is delicious! I don’t know what it is in that sauce but it is great. Sometimes the chicken is just right sometimes I’ve gotten it kinda of tough. Come to think of it, maybe I’m just in love with the sauce! Hmmmm??? It’s owned by a couple who are always there. It is a small business so it’s modest but overall the pleasant. I always get it to go it’s super small and I’m sure there isn’t a public restroom available. You may have to end up going to Togos or TacoBell next door. Anyways if you must have soy sauce with your meal don’t forget to ask for it. If you must have chopsticks ask for them they automatically give you a fork. Try their chicken pad Thai noodles they are pretty tasty

Joe’s ISDABOMB! Everyone here is just hating. The food is actually very well made. The Spicy Chicken is one of the best dishes as well as the Beef & Broccoli. They also don’t have«old food» they make very small amounts of each type of food, so I’ve never seen old food. The staff is not very fluent in english BUT who gives a dam… your ordering food, not doing your taxes. Prices are reasonable and it’s definitely worth the price! Don’t listen to all the haters Joe is the best.

Unfortunately, this is the only place around. and it is the sole reason this place is able to stay open. BEWARE: they scoop the old food(food that has been sitting out for a long time) to the left-hand side of the tray for each dish; you will notice them serve you the older food, even though the new food might be steaming right next to the older food that has been sitting out. This REALLY offends me, as I’ve beena customer for a while now. Even today, I went in and was given ‘old stash’ mein; there was not a noodle longer than a few inches, and was 90% produce that was the scraps left from the previous batch. I didn’t even get a second item because the item I usually get was low, and the piees of meat left looked really, really bad. I’ve lost all hope for this place.

This is the worst of the worst! The food is not good at all and service totally suck. Today I decided to give them a last try and again they came up with surprises $ 1 extra for everything I asked for, at the end my lunch was over $ 9 so I changed my mind and went somewhere else.

Very good. The name says it all…‘fast food’. If you are looking for a quick Chinese lunch special, this place is perfect. For the price and for the time efficiency, this place is delish! I had the orange peel chicken lunch special.$ 5.50 +$ 1.00 for an egg roll. Not bad; best quick and cheap Chinese food in Santa Clara.

The food wasn’t bad. It was a quick stop. I got chow mein w/pepper chicken and mushroom chicken. It was a quick stop for lunch from Techmart.

I can walk to Joe’s for lunch. It’s across the street from the Santa Clara Convention Center(parking garage side). We come here a lot, and today we decided to pay Joe a visit. I may be in the minority here, but I love my Americanized Chinese fare and this place does not disappoint. I like the flavor of the items here more than the flavor of the items at Panda Express. Joe always serves up big portions which will leave you feeling STUFFED. Granted, you’ll be hungry again in a few hours, because Chinese food always does that to you. Here are my suggestions: the fried rice and chow mein are good. Skip the chow fun. The pad thai is a’right. Hot sour soup is delicious. One time, I saw a woman order steamed rice and had them pour the hot sour soup over it.(She said she comes in once a week for this) Orange Chicken, Hunan Tofu, Peking Spareribs, Green Beans, Teriyaki Chicken, Mixed Veggies and Tofu are all safe bets. This isn’t gourmet Chinese food, my fellow Unilocalers. But it is tasty, fast, and a good value. Joe is really very nice, too.

It’s pretty basic americanized chinese fare. Quality/freshness a notch below Panda Express, but a bit spicier and more flavorful as a result. It’s in a strip center of food places that cater to lunch business for surrounding office parks. It wouldn’t survive otherwise.

You get what you get. «Joe* Chinese Fast Food» is fast food, American Style. I was driving around the Santa Clara area for a few minutes looking for something to eat at 10:00 a.m. I spy with my eagle eye Joe* Chinese Food. They were just opening and bringing out the initial dishes to place in their counter. I ordered the orange chicken and spicy pork pieces. I first ordered the ½ rice and ½ noodles as my starch, and they charge an additional $ 0.25. Orange chicken was average to below average. chicken pieces breaded and deep fried with a sticky orange sauce. The spicy pork pieces were also pork deep fried and tossed with salt pepper and jalapeño. After I got my order, a Santa Clara Police officer arrived, followed by about 15 construction workers — all looked like they really enjoyed their food. Food Grade: C Service Grade: B Worth the Money Grade: B Overall Impression: C

After ten years of sporadically visiting JOE*, I’ve got to say: they’re really made strides. The food is still unremarkable, but the quality is better now, so it’s a good bang for the buck. Also, they take credit cards for single orders, which I appreciate!

Within walking distance from my work(roughly 1 miles round trip), Joe Chinese Fast Food is one of 4 establishments. Unfortunately, it is also the only establishment with noticeable swarming flies greeting you as you enter. Food-wise, it’s your typical«already prepared» Chinese food on a heated chafing dish with offerings of 1 or 2 item(s) combo plate choices. Today was my first time dining at this place. I went with 2 combo plate over steamed rice. The two choices I had were sweet and crispy pork riblets and stir fried mixed vegetable medley. The water to rice grain ratio in the steam rice was perfect. The rice was not too soggy nor too tough. The riblets and vegetable medley contrasted the bland rice very well. I only wish the vegetables were more fresh. I like a small crisp when I bite into my veggies, which clearly was not the case. The riblets were not crispy; however, I thought it was actually quite lean for ribs standard. Overall, $ 6.45(before tax), is quite economical. I’ll definitely give this place another try in the near future and sample their other menu items. THREESTARS!

Come here really if you only want fast Chinese food. I assume the only guy that I saw there was Joe. He sneakily says«see you tomorrow!» as you walk out the door, too. Higher quality than Panda Express. Not as greasy. But still tasty! I’d say they are lacking in the options department, but you can get chow mien /fried rice and one or two sides for about $ 6 to $ 7. He packs on a good amount too. I personally like combining the fried rice and chow mien. Their curry chicken and spicy chicken are good — tender pieces of meat, surprisingly. Sweet and sour chicken(or was it pork?) had a lot of breading to it and not enough meat.

I have given this place two tries… that’s three tries too much. This place could be the worst chinese food i have ever eaten. Seriously, i would give them negative stars if i could. The food there is soggy, the noodles are chewy… not like fresh chewy – like«old and sitting there for days as it rots chewy.» The funny thing is that i pretty much like all chinese food, but this place was just horrible. The first time i ate there it was bad, but i went at the end of the day, so i thought that maybe it was just old food at the end of the day. The second time i went there, it was about 1pm in the afternoon on a weekday, when the food should have been fresher… NOPE. If you really must eat, go down the row to Togo’s and get their $ 5 lunch special – a sandwich, chips, and a drink. It beats whatever is served here. Happy Eating!

Definitely fast Chinese food, for a cheap price. I came here for two reasons… cheap dinner done fast. When I gazed at the food on the steam plates my first reaction was, how long was this food on here? The place was empty on a weekday, although I hear it can get busy during lunch hours with surrounding companies. Result – more food for me!(You can’t let all that food go to waste at the end of the night!) I ordered the 2 item combo. Orange Peel Chicken, Beef Brocolli with Chow Mein(you also have a choice of fried rice, which looked more like yellow rice so I passed). The Orange Peel Chicken was good, probably the best out of the selections… and boy did he pile it on. They don’t go slim on you here. The Beef Broccoli was okay. IMO too much broccoli and too little beef, but that’s pretty normal for a fast food Chinese restaurant. He ended up giving me what was left of the pan, which was courteous of him. Chow Mein and lots of it. So not the best tasting, most flavorful chow mein out there, but it was definitely edible. Overall…they give you lots and lots of food for what you pay for. It was definitely enough to feed both me and my friend. Where else can you find a $ 3 per person dinner with 2 big servings?
