We purchased a piano from this place a few years ago since it was closely located to my barber shop. The original purchase went reasonable well. They convinced us that we would be able to resell the piano back to them with minimal depreciation. Fast forward to 2009… We decide to resell our piano back. The owner tells us that the only way they can take back the piano is to have it sold through consignment where the store would take 30% of the proceeds. Having no other choice we agree with the promise the piano would be sold in 90 days. After 90 days, I called the store owner… no response. Call again… no response… After 5 – 6 voicemails and over 2 weeks, I finally hear back with the news my piano was sold at over $ 1800 so we would be expecting a check for approx. $ 1300 the following week. The following week, and no check, I start calling to find out when the check would arrive. Finally, after another 2 weeks, I receive a check in the mail for less than $ 1190 not $ 1300 — with no invoice and no details on the final purchase price, consignment commission, and how the final proceeds ended up to the $ 1190. I call again to find out why the check is over $ 100 less than what I was told I would be receiving. Again, the same cycle of no response. I leave approx. 10 voicemails over the next month. I visit the store and leave a message with the store clerk… and still no response. While it is likely that there is a reasonable explanation for the $ 100 difference, I find that not returning customer calls to be completely unacceptable. BTW, I notice the main store location has been closed down and they had moved into a smaller store around the corner. Not surprised…
