Every time I come here I think, «Why don’t I come here more often, like way more often?» I love the stairs and the incredible views, particularly in the morning if you get here by sunrise. But the sunset is decent as well. The stairs here make for a great workout and are much steeper than your treadmill at the gym. For me(5’4″) it’s difficult to go up two steps at a time, but very rewarding and fun. When you have ocean air and mesmerizing views, there is no need to do cardio at the gym. If you’re a local in Santa Barbara, the SBCC track is something to experience at least once.

Who needs an elliptical when you have an open access field next to the beach? What’s the membership cost you ask? FREE! What are the hours? 6am for the early birds until 10pm for the late owls. You will find me on the track at nights since the air is cooler. However, if you like the smell of the ocean, I recommend getting here bright and early before the sun hits. Heads up! Other events take priority! This means if there is organized soccer on the field, there is a chance the staff in the carts will stop you, don’t let it stop you from checking out the stadium and climb/hop the steps! Most importantly, keep coming back! There’s no better investment than to invest in yourself!

I dont live in Santa Barbara, but anytime I get the chance to workout here, I do. The location of the track is simply amazing. Sitting across the street from the beach, the views from the top of the stadium are incredible. There are 42 numbered stairs, with each number having two steps. The track is in newer condition and seems to be well maintained. I recently had the chance to workout here 4 days in a row and each time I went there were at least 20 other people running the stands or the track or cross-training on the field. Even when its been at its busiest I have never had an issue finding parking. If I lived close enough I would be here daily.

The new track field is in and it is nothing short of AMAZING! Just dragged my buddy out there for a track sesh in the rain yesterday. We both agreed that this place is pretty impeccable and that seemingly not a detail was overlooked in the renovations. Even when running in downpour, you don’t lose sight of your appreciation for it. Thank you, Santa Barbara!
