I know everyone is a student, and the food is okay but waiting for a mushroom sandwich for 20 minutes, before it got busy, while watching 6 people that came in after you be served while seated, AND your order is to go does not go over well with me. I’ll bring my lunch, thanks.

I love it here! The prices are moderate but it benefits the students who are in culinary arts that are back there making your food. There are prices for all kinds of orders and I love when they have the Chipotle sandwich for their special. I can never pass that up. Expect to pay at least $ 8 on any meal unless you get their $ 5 meals which isn’t filling enough for me but I’m a 21 growing dude, so I can see why I might need a little more than half a sandwich with friends. They have a variety of options but unfortunately their hours limits their customers. They are only open during the middle of the day for 2 hours starting at 11:15am. Also, this place isn’t just for students. If you happen to be on campus for any other reason then you should definitely check this place out. Authentic food made right in front of you.

The best place to get food on campus. The cafeteria is much lower quality for the same price. JSB always has interesting specials, delicious milkshakes, reasonable prices, and truly great people behind the counter. I’m never disappointed when I go here.

This is a great find! This is one of the best places to eat in SB. The food is cooked perfectly because the students really care about what they are serving. Plus everything is VERY fresh because they are very busy and have a high turnover rate. Everything is made from scratch and you can taste it. I have had many things here but I will say the ½ lb Kobe Beef Burger $ 7.25 with a HUGE side is the best burger in SB and always cooks perfectly. Would give 6 stars if I could. Keep up the great work.

Such a convenient place to stop and grab a bite if you are on campus. Great sandwiches(that just happen to be HUGE!) at cheap prices. I had the California Melt(Turkey, bacon, cheese, tomato, avocado in sourdough) and it was very good. Every sandwich comes with fries AND a trip to the salad bar. Woo hoo! I love that this kitchen is actually a «classroom» and all of the food is prepared by culinary arts students. No tipping allowed as this is a class, but I totally would have left one… our server was great. Highly recommend this cute little café!

Not to be confused with the cafeteria, the JSB café is right inside Santa Barbara City College, but everyone is welcome to eat there, and I highly recommend a visit even if you have no other reason to be on campus. Santa Barbara City College has its own culinary arts school that rivals some of the best private ones in the nation. I once organized an event on campus which they catered for, and it was completely professional, delicious, and a big hit. Even though I am no longer a student at SBCC, I eat here when I can(they are only open during the academic year for lunch), and am never disappointed. A server will come to your table, and most meals include a free trip to the soup and salad bar. They have a huge selection of sandwiches, salads, shakes, sides, seasonal items, and other alliterations. Prices are low: $ 6 gets you a generous club sandwich with fries, and shakes and blended drinks are just $ 3. There is seating both indoors and outdoors, but you can expect crowds any time the café is open. Many people are there for take-out, so you should still be able to find a seat. To top it off, you can’t beat the location. A fifteen minute bus ride will get you there from Downtown, or you can park at one of the metered stalls steps away from the café. SBCC is located at the top of a cliff, and if you like, you can take your meal with you and sit at La Playa Stadium or on the grass at West Campus and enjoy your meal with a view of the ocean. On a clear day, you can see the Channel Islands, and on other days you can still see dolphins jumping in the waves. Just because you were never a student at SBCC doesn’t mean you have to miss out on eating at the JSB café.

This place took a huge dive in quality since their remodel. Instead of a nice café atmosphere, they changed it to an express ‘get you out as quick as possible’ type place. I am very disappointed in JSB, this used to be my favorite place to eat, but not anymore.
