Choices of the night: Baja Sharkeez, the Irish pub(O’-something… O’Malley’s ?), or this place… Kind of a no brainer. Why? Well, Sharkeez was dead(plus bad experiences in Orange County) and the Irish pub was blasting N’Sync. Not that I have anything against N’Sync, but I just wasn’t in the mood, nor was I with a huge group of girls who just wanted to relive their childhood fanaticism. This place had a nice, chill atmosphere with a comfy divey feel. The bartender Nicole(I think) was extremely friendly and attentive. She really seemed like a genuine person, not just some scantily-clad bartender at those busier places who couldn’t care less. I liked her. I ordered a whiskey sour, which was damn strong if I do say so myself. Nothing at all wrong with that. Pretty decent selection of beer’s on tap too. I’d definitely make myself a regular here if I lived in the area. I mean, granted I did come on a Sunday night. but still.

Great bar! Even better is the service and yes there’s a pool table! Our first time my lady and I experienced state street in Santa Barbara and it’s definitely our bar to go BACK to every time we’re in town! #respectful #topFLIGHTservice #barSWAG

The douche bag that runs the trivia is the most condescending person I have ever met. He takes all of the fun out of what should be a game. He is horrendous and I hope to never go there again.

Absolutely horrible service! My friends and I walked in and the bartender rudely, exasperatedly, and aggressively asked us what we wanted and when my friend said we needed just a minute he rudely replied with another annoyed request with what we wanted. She said again, «We just need a minute.» And I asked if he had a drink menu. To which he replied, annoyed, «All we have is beer.» As my friends and I, who have all worked in bars, stared at the full bar behind him, I told him okay we need a minute, again. And he very rudely exclaimed again, «All we have is beer!!!» He seemed like he wanted us to leave more than he wanted any customers at all! Completely inappropriate, so we left and went to Sandbar, which is way better and actually gives you five minutes to decide what you would like to purchase! Again, HORRIBLEHORRIBLEHORRIBLE service!!!

The employee who worked Tuesday night was incredibly rude, incredulous, and inconsiderate. He was so rude it made never want to come back! When he’s fired. I’ll come back.

For some reason, I always choose to come here rather than Sandbar which is just down the road on college nights. I was lured in here once by a very friendly lady who I believe was in charge of Marketing/Managing. I really don’t remember. Either way, she treated my friend and I with drinks that night and everyone there was so friendly. The bartenders were really nice and I’d love to come again on a night that isn’t Thursday, haha. Anyways, I took my friend here last Thursday and the bartender there was Irish! How cool is that, I really got the feel of a pub from the UK and it brought back so many memories. I got to try two beers on tap that night: Guinness and Opal(?) beer. It was perfect for my friend and I, because I love porters and stouts so Guinness is always a good choice for me and he loves lighter beers that have a sour taste to it and that suited him perfectly as well! I like coming here for more of a relaxed vibe, as it is a smaller bar but everyone is so friendly and the environment makes it very easy to talk to anyone.

I have been here numerous times with my husband and we always have a very pleasant time! The bartendress we met the last time(blonde lady, very sweet and young) was just wonderful and friendly. I ordered a couple of glasses of house chardonnay during happy hour which I was later shocked to find out were $ 7 a piece. My bad, I didn’t ask if they were on happy hour special so I switched to beer for $ 3(rolling rock I believe on special). We were getting ready to go to a concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl and the bartenders friend actually looked up whether or not they sold food there for us(since this bar does not serve food) and everyone was super nice. They had music playing and it was so good I asked about it and was told the owners put something together— Cars, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty… all the good stuff of my era!!! The only reason it is missing a star is because it was hot that day there was no air conditioning and only what appeared to be swamp cooler. If it had A/C it would have been a perfect experience :)

I really like this place. I’ve been here a few times now and it’s such a great atmosphere and place to get a round of beers with your friends. I especially like sitting outside at night with the stringed lights. One of my favorite bars in Old Town Pasadena.

Okay little place, not crowded until late, passable service and drinks. Low rating is due to something beyond the bar’s control: the mind-boggling 3:1 ratio of virtually psychopathic douchebags to decent people in Santa Barbara on the weekends. Yeesh, it’s freaking awful.

Poor service. Checked my statement the next week and was overcharged. Bartender added a little extra«tip» for himself. Sad when they assume everyone is too drunk to remember and use that to validate stealing from good people. Never going back.

Great freindly service. Worth the money to go here, don’t order the Guinness, but the rest of the beers and the music are great.

Bar trivia on Wednesdays is pretty great. Bring your ‘A’ game though, I’ve never been to a harder one. The bar itself though is not my favorite. There’s no food and there’s one bathroom with no lock… Hope you’re not shy if you want to go No.2

Great local spot with one of the few places in town to smoke and play pool. Fun bartenders and great beer selection.

Fun English bar to catch up with friends or start the night. Pool table in the back, solid tunes to choose from and drink proves are definitely of value for State Street. Plenty of booth seating inside, in addition to bar stools.

My favorite bar in Santa Barbara! It is right on State Street, so it is conveniently located to boot! They have the most unique, fantastic brews on tap. There are many taps that you could not find elsewhere in your«typical bar.» This is a great spot to gather with friends, enjoy a great beer and feel like you are in London. No Wankers! Cheers!

My favorite bar is one that feels divey in that it’s dark and filled with regulars, but I do have a fondness for clean bathrooms and un-smokey air, so not all dives are really for me. While not a dive I have to admit, if I was a SB local, this would be my spot. We decided to go on a random drive up the coast at the end of the labor day weekend and found ourselves in SB needing drinks and a place to use our phones to try to figure out where to stay for the night. So many places on State St were loud, crowded and just generally annoying, so we popped in to Old Kings Road and were delighted to see there were only about 3 other people in the bar and a few chilling in the back playing pool. We got on their WiFi(yay! free wifi!) and ordered some drinks. If you have a cider other than strongbow on tap, you immediately earn an extra star in my book. The Fox Barrel Pear Cider was so yummy it made my dude regret ordering a beer and had him wishing for my delicious beverage. The bartender was friendly, they had lots of choices of things on tap for reasonable prices and it was quiet enough to hold a conversation. I wanted absolutely nothing else, so yep, I’m a fan!

One of the few places on State St. where you can get a unique drink. The bartender was really helpful in helping choose which drink to order. There are several booths(which you don’t see at bars) and high tables. I got the Washington Apple and it’s definitely apple with a kick.

Nice little spot on State street in SB. Came here during a night of bar hopping. Pretty nice chill place to hang out. They have big booths in the back. The lady at the bar was very friendly, I figure I try the Old Kings Road IPA and she gave me a taste of it before deciding if I wanted it. I am fairly new to IPA and it wasn’t too bad. Not a huge selection of beers thought which was a bit disappointing. I didn’t quite get the whole British pub feel when inside this place. Aside from the British pictures on the wall it is your average bar. A good spot to come in for a quick drink hang out a bit and move on to the next spot.

I’m a «regular». How have I missed reviewing Old Kings Road? Lets just say I was busy with a pint in one hand and my putter in the other. Old Kings Road is one of a couple British pubs in Santa Barbara that goes beyond the beer. Like The Press Room, Brits live and drink in these halls. Pool and smoking in the back/patio and football on the multiple screens. The beer is cold in recently redone lines with my favorite, Smithwicks on pull but most importantly, it’s a regulars bar. Come in 3 times and you will see the same people shuffling the jukebox, racking the solids and strips, swinging over the Golden Tee links or enjoying trivia night. Come here to make new friends, see old ones and drink a mighty fine pint of ale. Oh, there’s a full bar too so shots are on. See you for a round of golf and a pint full of suds!
