The Petite Syrah has always been my favorite & was how I originally heard about Jaffurs. After tasting their other wines, I began to see how Jaffurs makes truly amazing wine. They make great California Rhone varietals! My boyfriend & I thought the Grenache was absolutely stellar along with the Syrah SBC and Syrah Verna’s vineyard. Also if you have a chance to try, their blend(High Tide) & dessert wine(Late Harvest Viognier) were delicious as well! Additionally, Dave was such a pleasant experience! So informative as well as such a friendly guy. As new wine club members, we look forward to more Jaffurs in our future!

Awesome Rhones, and their Pinot Noir and Petite Sirah are damn tasty too. My favorites were the grenache and Verna’s syrah. If you like desert wines be sure to ask for a taste of the late harvest Viognier.

Great wine and fun service! I work in the wine industry, so I’ve been to a lot of tasting rooms and tasted a lot of wine, and this was absolutely my favorite funk zone winery. Dave was so friendly and funny and so informative. He also gave us awesome tips on nearby restaurants, which we took, and had phenomenal meals to boot! The 2011 Syrah and their Petite Syrah were favorites, and we bought a few bottles. Great wine, in a relaxed, but fun atmosphere. We’ll be back for more!

It was our first time visiting Jaffurs and it was great to see the humble origins of such fantastic wine! The tasting room and wine-making area are one and the same, with surfboards decorating the warehouse-like interior, but what Jaffurs is lacking in ambiance, they make up for in excellent wine — which is what really matters — to me, at least! We had enjoyed Jaffurs’ Syrah at Opal the night before with some tasty filet mignon and bought 2 more bottles here for $ 25 each to enjoy over the weekend. Would definitely join this wine club if we lived in Santa Barbara — not San Diego! Thanks Jaffurs… till next time!

This place is totally unpretentious and the staff is extremely informative and kind. I would recommend this tasting room to an expert or novice. We sampled two whites and three red(Grenache blanc, Viognier, Grenache, and two Syrahs) and ended up purchasing a Viognier. I was impressed with the quality for the price(the bottle we bought was $ 27). Thanks to Curtis for a very pleasant experience!

Excellent wines and friendly, informative staff. I have been there numerous times and the wines are always outstanding. It is always a pleasure to stop by Jaffurs!

Absolutely amazing service! The moment we entered, we were greeted and welcomed. It is a smaller winery but they offer great wines and are very compassionate about what they do. They value each customer evidenced by their willingness to find the best fit for you. I bought a bottle of the Viognier because it taste divine! Definitely worth the visit, I will go back!

Update: I contacted the website on the same day I left this review. Within a couple of hours, I had a response with apologies and reiteration that the specific employee did not follow the company’s policy. We will give it another try if we are in town again. Original: We arrived at 445pm knowing they closed at 5pm. We came from LA on a one day trip and were refused service. It’s sad. The wines were recommended but we didn’t get to taste. As the lady did not even allow us out of the car. So the ratings go to the total lack of customer service.

A diamond in the rough when it comes to Petite Syrah and Grenache. And for the price point($ 35−40/bottle), Jaffurs offers a great value. The tasting room and bottling area are one in the same. It’s quite humble, but don’t let that fool you! Sit down and sample a few varietals, you will not be disappointed. Probably the favorite wine of the day was the 100% Grenache. Bought two bottles and can’t wait to open ‘em up with a nice dinner.

This is a very unassuming winery in an unassuming place. But the hospitality and wines are great. Kjerstin in particular is very welcoming and in fact reopened the winery for tasting even though we went after closing time. It’s not in a great location but well worth visiting. I bought some wine too.

Good stop on the Sb Urban Wine Trail. A little far away from the other wine stops, so probably best to go there first.

Great wine and service here. Defintely a Rhones hub w/a pretty good Pinot that flies under that radar(titled the Mistress as it’s not a Rhone). My group left here with a few bottle purchases. their Reserves are defintely worth trying to fit a taste into — if you kindly ask. The tasting room is their bottling facility — which to some might be a downturn — not for me. i judge by wine & service. I recommend this place if you don’t mind fleeing the Funk Zone /Urban Wine Trail — you’ll need to go by car as it’s a good mile or two from all the other rooms.

Best Wine in Santa Barbara hands down. Bought 3 cases today. All of the tastings today were great! Had 4 people tasting today that were comped since we bought so much wine! The crew at jaffurs are very picky about where each grape comes from and you can taste it in the wine! There is nothing fancy about this place… Which I love! They are focused on wine and only wine! True craftsmen that don’t need to spend a lot of money on a fancy tasting room, just perfection in a bottle.

The«store» you can visit is not the wine, of course. For a number of years now we have been drinking various of the Jaffurs wines — from the Voignier to the Grenache Blanc from the Mistress Pinot Noir to the Santa Barbara Syrah(and others). We have given the wine as gifts at the holidays, and the recipients always thank us(actually rather profusely). The story of how this winery came about, the quality of the wines, the care and attention they give to their wines, let alone their customers, leads me to give Jaffurs Winery all five stars. I see one post that those who are not as thrilled, ok… more for us! I have to agree with that but this is superb wine in my humble opinion. Ron, Manhattan Beach

I love Jaffurs, especially the viognier and petite syrah. The tasting room employees are always polite, knowledgeable and fun. All of Jaffurs wine is extremely thought out and complex, especially the blended vineyard bottles. We go every time we are in SB!

If you don’t like their wines, great, more for me. Come to Jaffurs for some of the best QPR wines in CA. Stellar Rhone varietals.

Supurb wines by people with a passion for what they do. I like some better than others, but that is my pallet. They are all good. the value is great for bottles and wine club members. For you people that are looking for some free glasses, big pours during tasting or a cheesy tasting room, don’t waste your time, or the readers time with your negetive words. This place is the crux of what SBC vinters do best.

First Santa Barbara wine tasting experience for me – surfboards and all! Cost to worth it ratio: 2.5 Highlights: — Surfboards: coolest thing about this place. Had a bunch of surfboards hung up on the wall. Guess they are collectibles of the owner and there’s a binder that explains them all. Welcome to Santa Barbara wine tasting – you won’t see that in Napa! :-) — Types of wine: besides bunches of syrahs, had a roussanne varietal which I had never seen as well as a sangiovese which is always nice to see — One wine had a picture of a dog on the label and proceeds from the sale of it benefits a local dog park. I’m not a dog-lover, but I have enough friends who are to think this is cool and unwinery like. ;-) — In a garage-type room in an industrial area of the town. Lowlights(my flip side to highlights): — We didn’t get much description of each wine we tasted except for where the vineyards are located on map. I’m a wine person and like to be educated a bit about the winery and each wine while I taste. — Tasting fee: $ 8, which isn’t much for Napa, but other places we visited charged less and provided more of a complete tasting experience I’m glad we tried it, but not one of the tasting rooms I’d run back to next time I’m in town.
