You won’t find everything at this market. If you want American products, shop at Ralph’s or Vons, if you want bok choy or jackfruit go to an Asian supermarket. But if you want produce like avocado, carrots, squash, cabbage, cilantro, tomatoes, lemon or limes, shop at a Mexican supermarket. Just like American supermarkets, the Mexican markets have chains, such as Gonzalez market, El Super, and Super Saver. Some are better than others. It’s purely a matter of preference, just like shopping at your favorite grocery store. Being Asian, I’ve never had any problems shopping at this market. Granted, it can be a little intimidating being a non-Latina, however, when I need something, the employees are very helpful, and go out of their way to find what I need. At this market, they have a bakery, a butcher, and aisles of canned goods. Their frozen food section is not very good, and their dairy section is limited. It’s good to know your products before you come here to buy.

If you can’t speak Spanish don’t go there! I used to shop here only for some fruits and meat. on july 22014 I went there to buy 30LB chicken and I was on the line. they are not organize at all, the # you have is always different. anyway after 15min waiting I asked a guy I want 30LB chicken and please cut them for me. he told me I can’t do it for you. I asked why you did clean it for last customers(she was Spanish) and he didn’t say anything. I asked him what is your supervisor name and after 5 min I find her and I told her the story, «her name was Maria» she went inside and start to speak with the guy in Spanish and then after 10 minutes, she came to me and told me «sorry sorry he can’t do it for you, it’s to much, if you want I can charge you more and he will clean it for you» I was so angry and ask her who is you supervisor and she told me oh sorry she left for lunch(at 5:20 pm) so I got her name and left the store and then called the store and ask for speaking to her supervisor, they told me she is not here she left at 11 am and she will be back tomorrow. Anyway because this, I won’t shop from them anymore and I will post it every where to let people know!

While located in a dicey neighborhood, this place has pretty good deals on food. Veggie and fruit is pretty decent and the carneceria is pretty good and are willing to cut stuff up to your liking. Come early as it gets busy in the afternoons. Oh yeak, cant forget the bakery. They have everything from birthday cakes to pan dulce and bolios.

This market has a bakery as well as a meat deli. You can find warm fresh out of the oven bolillo bread early in the morning and late at night often right before the store closes. There are not many prebaked caked however you can place order for a 3leches cake. They have fresh tortillas as well next to the bakery. The produce selection is limited to typical Mexican produce; there is not variety of produce such as mushrooms, or various tomatoes. I did not find rocotta cheese or feta cheese. If you are looking for mexican spicy candy this is a great place to find it at low prices, there is a variety of different brands and flavors. This market does carry some wine but night a big selection; but you can defenitely find beer. On a final note the prices on fresh produce and meat are good but other itmes can be found at lower prices elsewhere.

Big Saver has the cheapest produce. ever. You thought Asian markets were cheap? Try this one. I think I walked away with a jalapeño for a penny or something. Sometimes, their produce isn’t the freshest though. I bought some naval oranges that were kind of dry. but they were also super cheap and the size of my head. sort of. Also, you have to keep in mind that this Mexican supermarket, so there are definitely some things you won’t be able to find. Like enoki mushrooms? canned artichoke hearts? bags of salad greens??? nope. well at least they have ramen. Good selection of mexican candy(i.e. «jelly lucas»), and you can buy some of it in bulk. You have to try the cream cheese filled pastries in the bread/pastry section near the front of the market… they are ridiculously amazing. soft, fluffy, and oozing with cream cheese. Sorry bagel, cream cheese has a new best friend.
