Babe’s is awesome! Every time we go we receive the best service. The meal is served family style. You pick your meat and all of the sides are served in big bowls that each person can pass around. You can order as many refills on sides as you need. My husband loves jalapenos with his fried chicken, and luckily they have them every time. I always order the fried catfish because it is delicious! They will give you a bag to go(similar to produce bags in the supermarket) for you to put your meat or biscuits in, but they do not offer other to go containers for the sides. If I want to take sides home, I order extra, and it always seems to work out good. Occasionally you will find a singing waiter or waitress. If someone goes in on their birthday, they make them wear a chicken hat and dance. There is usually a wait if you go around dinner time. The biggest downside is the noise, it is very loud.

I ate here once while I was in town and the food was great. The food is served family style and since I was a single diner, I took a lot home. They only had bags to put leftovers in but I dealt with it. Fried chicken and sides.

So amazingly delicious I can’t stop thinking about it! We had the fried chicken and the chicken plus sides were all perfectly seasoned(and I normally put pepper on everything)! We ordered takeout — an order of fried chicken comes with 4 pieces chicken(breast, wing, leg, thigh), 8oz of each side(mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, corn), salad and 2 biscuits. An amazing value that I would have happily paid much more for!

This place is outstanding. Everything I’ve had is A-1, but you need to try the fried chicken. It’s dark inside and the wait is long most all the time, but you will not be sorry I promise.

Good fried chicken. Stores next door good place to browse while you wait Nice breezeway area also. I like this location serves smoked chicken also which is healthier.

Great food and good selection meats but a little pricy. Fun environment but a little loud at times.

Always delicious as usual! The main meal portions are always large & the sides are bottomless family style, you just can’t go wrong at all. I usually have no complaints, but I do have two this time. We sat where we could see the kitchen & as the waitress brought me my dessert(while I was still in the middle of me meal, I know she was probably cut, but we were still a table) I watched her lick her fingers after serving my banana pudding. The only other complaint is that if you are going to do the Hokey Pokey, I get that you don’t want to do it, but don’t look like you hate your life. Those are my only two complaints & really neither are large ones, just representation of the restaurant itself can be better with these two complaints being fixed.

I have eaten here many times. Without a doubt the best fried chicken anywhere(sorry ma but theirs is better). Huge portions. Incredible service. Superb chicken fried steak. Reasonable prices. Oh but wait there is more. Babes salutes all their military, LE and first responders incredibly graciously. I’ve never been treated better, anywhere, at any price. I was absolutely overwhelmed. These folks are genuine patriots!!!

The Babe’s experience is lost on me. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why this place is so popular! I have been several times, as this is the favorite place of a friend who now lives out of state. Who am I to deny her on the rare occasion she gets to visit? The Sanger location is central for her reunions, so this is the location with which I am most familiar, but I have had the same experience at other Babe’s as well. The price is pretty high for what you get. The green beans are out of a can. I can make better mashed potatoes. The fried chicken is not well seasoned and the skin always tastes a little burned. The gravy is also under-seasoned. The salad is plain iceburg lettuce in a sugar/vinegar dressing. If you want to make it yourself, heat half a cup of vinegar in a saucepan, add half a cup of sugar and continue to heat and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Then add a fourth of a cup of wesson oil. Voila! The cheapest salad dressing on the planet — courtesy of my Depression-Era grandmother. My grandma at least used red wine vinegar! The smoked chicken is dry, the chicken-fried steak is under-seasoned and small. The catfish CAN be ok when they have the oil at the right temperature, but that is hit & miss. I’ve never had the chicken fingers. The corn is actually pretty good, but I can’t eat enough corn to justify the price I pay to come here. No Coke, RC. The pies are TERRIBLE. The service when we went last night was a joke. I had to ask for straws, butter, silverware and no drink refills were offered without asking. We had a party of seven. Three of us got fried chicken, two got fish, one got chick-fried steak and one got chicken fingers. We received a platter of six fish fillets and a heaping platter of all the other meats. Two of our group had had bariatric surgery so barely ate. Based on what was eaten and what was available for take-home, I think we were missing a chicken. I had a southern grandma who really knew how to cook. I know what southern home-cooking is supposed to taste like. This ain’t it. I’m sure I will be back in a couple of years when my friend comes through town again, but I don’t have to be happy about it.

Note: this restaurant is BYOB! They do not serve alcohol. Fun and different. No menu because they have 5 main meats with family style sides. Bottomless biscuits and salad — more food than any healthy person should eat. It’s all family style — two people could easily share one of the meats. Of course we didn’t share and ate ourselves sick. We took home some items that were left. But no take out containers –only bags oddly reminiscent of doggy poop bags. That didn’t stop us though! Fun family place. Glad we took the few turns off the highway to eat at this cute spot! Be warned: if you have a phobia of taxidermy, steer clear.

OMG!!! The food is great had chicken fried steak big as the plate. Wife had chicken tenders got 10 to 12 large tenders. You get all the perfect gravy, real mashed potatoes Italian green beans, corn cut off the cob, and biscuits you can eat… Pay 12.99 for the meats and eat. My wife said yummy for the tummy!!! I say try it you’ll like it…

I loved everything about our experience at Babe’s! I love places where you know you’re going to be full afterwards and this is unquestionably one of them. Out of all the options, I’d recommend going for the chicken tenders… so fresh, so flaky, and with the honey mustard and barbecue sauce it can’t get much better! They bring out wonderful sides(mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, gravy, biscuits, salad, etc.) and the place has a great atmosphere. While we were there some of the servers sang along with what was playing from the jukebox and everyone looked so happy to be there. It’s a fun place and totally worth going!

Chicken tenders were fresh and the breading crispy. Sides were fantastic and the mashed potatoes were some of the best I’ve had. Green beans were flavorful and I loved the biscuits, but my grandfather thought they weren’t brown enough. Salad wasn’t to my taste as the dressing(salad comes already dressed) was VERY sweet. Service was great. Now I want to go back and pace myself so I can try one of their desserts.

I’m in love… you can just say Babes and my mouth starts salivating. I always get chicken fried steak. It’s one of my favorite CFS places around because it’s the southern country style that I grew up with. The only thing that’s not good here is the green beans. I hate overcooked green beans straight out of a can. Although, there are plenty of other sides to keep me happy and stuffed.

Killer fried chicken. Yum! Get in, order up and out you go. Get there early for faster in/out. Great place after a day on the boat at Ray Roberts.

Umm, one word to describe how I feel about this place… love! It’s family style, so you pick your main course and they bring out all the sides, which are bottomless. Our options that day were fried catfish, chicken fried steak, fried chicken and chicken tenders. Probably something else as well, but we knew we were getting chicken tenders. They brought out a heaping plate of fresh, crisp tenders, as well as sides of sweet corn, green beans, mashed potatoes and cream gravy and biscuits. Food heaven, for sure. I’m a sucker for sides, and these were great… especially the savory green beans and sweet corn(not really creamed corn). However, the chicken tenders were off the chain. Perfectly fried and just flat out delicious. Paired with the sweet tea… oh yeah, that’s some good stuff. My friends and I split the chocolate meringue pie for dessert. It was served warm and although I was stuffed, I couldn’t resist a few bites before my food coma set in. I was able to snag some chicken tenders to go, but they won’t let you take home the rest of your sides. That was the only bummer. Hopefully this place will be in my regular rotation when I come back to Dallas, because I’m in love!

Do you like scrumptious meat that melts in your mouth like it was made in heaven? How about buttery cloud biscuits? Well, Babe’s is the place for you! If you go with plain ol’ fried chicken or chicken tenders, you most definitely will not be disappointed. Best tenders I’ve ever tasted, hands down. They’re fried perfectly with a light and crispy batter hugging the moist and tender meat. And they give you PLENTY of them. They serve like-meats on the same platter, so with just three orders you’ll end up with a heaping pile of golden chicken that could feed an army. Plenty for left overs… I like to take a few of their biscuits home and make my own breakfast chicken biscuit sandwiches the next morning. Their only carry out container offered is a small, clear grocery bag, though, so you probably won’t make it out with any of the other sides. You can buy extras to go, however, if needed. The family style sides just takes it over the top wonderful. The salad, a simple mix of iceberg lettuce with their vinaigrette, is strangely addictive. The chicken’s served with mashed potatoes, white gravy, cut italian green beans, corn, and more biscuits. They’re bottomless and the servers are great about checking up on you and bringing out more as needed. As far as the other menu offerings go, I’ve heard from a few friends that the roast chicken is a little on the dry side, the catfish is pretty standard, and have never had the pleasure of pot roast. GREAT place for groups. I’ve hosted multiple parties here and the atmosphere is perfect for a good time. They don’t take reservations, but do appreciate call aheads for larger groups and will normally have the table prepped by the time you get there. It can get loud, but that’s more fun at places like this. Probably thanks to the BYOB. :) Entrees with all sides will run you about $ 12… can’t beat that for endless ecstasy! Side note: I’d recommend checking out the menu for the location you’re visiting online first. Not all locations carry all options… Sanger seems to have the best selection in my opinion and is only about 15 – 20 minutes north of Denton. Also check the hours– they close a little earlier than expected at 9pm on weekends.
