Sorry fans, Big Momma’s is no more. They’ve been closed for months, and a new place is trying this location.

I am a little slow on this review but stopped here on the way home from Dallas. The customer services was excellent. Super friendly folks. The chicken strip plate was awesome. Super juicy and tons of flavor. The apple pie was fantastic as well. All the food tasted like it was freshly prepared. I highly recommend and would eat here again in a heart beat!!!

Drove up for dinner tonight got there before 7. They were closed! Don’t know if this place is out of business or not. No sign in door about closing early or any indication of why it was shut down.

Okay, honestly not the worst but I don’t think over flow from Good restaurants will help them make up for. … Not using fresh produce. Lettuce was from a bag just like taco bell. Cold bun on burger. My salad was a pile of awful lettuce 11 pecan pieces 6 mandarin orange wedges and some dry feta. Chicken fried steak is not top shelf. Sorry but the restaurant biz is way to competitive for this place to thrive.

Best catfish I’ve eaten in a long time! That was the first time I was there. Then the fish got smaller: less meat — more crust and grease. Now it’s changed hands… Guess we’ll see… Holding hope for improvements!

This is a gold mine of a place. 3 pieces of mouth watering catfish, French fries that two can eat, pile bowl of okra, 3 yummy hush puppies, and cornbread for $ 9.99! Yes all of that for under ten bucks! And the topper! All homemade. This will be my stop to come in the area always!!!

We came here for Sunday lunch when Babe’s was overflowing. It’s now on our list to return to, specifically. Everything we had here was fantastic: Cheeseburger — my wife and kids loved their burger. Be aware that medium rare will be so, if you ask(most places won’t do this). The fries that came alongside were also great. Catfish — I got the ‘small’ plate, which was 4 filets with two veggies. The catfish was really good, and their cocktail sauce was wonderful(sweet). The fried okra was very good and plentiful. The sweet corn was also good. Boneless wings — the kids got the wings to share. They were covered in a mustard-based BBQ sauce that was great. I actually stole about half their chicken, it was so good. These were a new item they were trying out, and I hope they keep them on the menu. It was some of the most juicy and tender chicken pieces I’ve had. I’d go back just for these. All in all, we were thoroughly impressed. We’ll be back next time we’re in Sanger.

Bring cash, checks and patience. Large group ruined our evening. It was hot inside with lots of flies. We waited for more than one hour after we ordered and paid. The catfish was cold and not as good as we have had at other restaurants. The servers seemed frustrated… but they were very apologetic. Cannot recommend this poorly run restaurant.

This place has delicious home style cooking. The chicken fried steak is the absolute best I have had. I make sure to try a different side items each visit. Would be nice if they at least took Visa and MasterCard. You order at the counter and get your drink from the fountain. They serve the food to the table, but leave it up to the customer to refill their own drinks. Refilling drinks would justify tipping. I will definitely be returning!

Great food and daily specials too! Go on Sunday and you get free dessert with your meal purchase. Service is excellent although the place is set up and decorated sub-par…otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars. Definitely a must try — most especially if Babe’s has a long wait list!

I’ve been to the other restaurant across the street and it has met it’s equal. My catfish and hush puppies were perfect. Great slaw and the pies are to die for!

Great fish is a must. Pie was great. Portions were huge. It’s worth getting off the highway for this place. We stop here every time we come through Dallas. Its just good home cooking. we always leave happy and take pie for the road.

During the holidays, we were in Sanger for the day and decided to visit the original Babe’s. When we discovered it didn’t open until 4:30 on weekdays, we stopped in at a nearby restaurant, Big Momma’s. I am so thankful that Babe’s wasn’t open or I wouldn’t have had an amazing meal and perhaps may never have tried Big Momma’s. 1 — Service: Attentive, kind, friendly and helpful. We even had our choice of pie slices fresh from the oven vs slightly refrigerated. When we struggled between the coconut crème and the chocolate crème as our pie-to-share, they gave us a slice of the coconut to try with the chocolate we’d purchased. 2 — Food: Homecooked, fresh and plentiful portions. I somewhat wish that I’d ordered to share with my husband but if I had, I would have missed out on sampling the fantastic dishes that our group ordered. Chicken fried steak the size of a dinner plate, crisp and flavorful. Grilled chicken also that same size, but juicy and tender. Fried catfish that was perfectly seasoned, not over or under fried — the best I’ve had outside of the now-defunct Red Ackers in Noonday, TX. 3 — Pie: Yes, it’s food, but is deserving of a special callout. The meringue was unbelievably tall and the pie was delicious. I am seriously considering making a trip back just to buy a pie.(And I make great homemade pie — their pie was just that good.)

Sanger is already a small town that some barely notice as they are driving through, so it’s easy for a good food spot to get missed. However, this is a place you NEED to check out. You can find all sorts of fried deliciousness with a side of coleslaw at this small but awesome little getaway. FYI… the portions here are not small so be prepared to share or at least grab a to-go box. Even better was the slice of pie that I had… Buttermilk pie to be exact. I had never heard of it until I set foot in this establishment and it was so dangerously good that I could easily gain 20 lbs if I lived in Sanger and had the convenience of getting it on a regular basis. It’s definitely worth checking out. Also, you don’t have to have kids to enjoy the paper covered tables that allow you to color and draw while you wait but this place is definitely kid friendly! And with a roll of paper towels handy, you can quickly wipe off your hands and grab a crayon at any time. And as always in my reviews, I cannot leave out the bathrooms. This place has the cutest and most rustic(not to mention cleanest) bathroom I have seen. Who wants to stop at a convenience store when you have this place as on option? Unless you need gas of course but there are plenty of stations nearby. Just saying. So why 4 stars instead of 5? It can get a bit warm on a hot summer day so make sure you grab a table close to a fan and away from the window, but hey… at least your food won’t get cold. :) It’s a short drive from I-35 so look for Bolivar and watch for the fish on the sign! Btw… it’ll be on your left when going East. Your welcome.
