Some very serious soccer Most of the world calls it football but here in the states we already have a cool sport named football so we call it soccer. Doesn’t matter what you call it, here at Sylvan lake Park they take it very, very seriously. The park has six professional soccer fields and invites some of the best teams and players from around the world to kick around a funny shaped ball. Olympic and international teams have played here as well as well as a plethora of Olympic hopefuls. It seems somebody or lots of somebodies very good at the game of soccer are on one of the fields doing remarkable things with their feet. Even though the park is known for it’s high level soccer, it is actually a 126 acre facility bordering the 188 acre Lake Sylvan. It also has six very well maintained tennis courts, sand volleyball pits, American football fields, and racquetball courts. Lots of programs and classes are held including some very cool outside weightlifting for women while we were there. Of course since the beautiful lake is sitting right next to the park boat ramps give access to some wonderful fishing and boating activities and there are plenty of trials and path for jogging, hiking or just walking around. For the less active souls, pavilions and shady spots are great places for picnics or just hanging around. I’m actually shocked that this park has not been reviewed before since it is something very, very special. A great example of space being utilized to get people active or at the very least outside watching other people be active.
