Came here today to bike a bit. Looked at a map and drove to where I thought there was a trailhead. Nope. It was a bank. Even had another car stop and ask us where the trailhead was. Hmmm… We rode about 5 miles in and never saw one. The trail is quite nice with lots of other bikers. We stopped on the way back to grab a number of geocaches. Sadly, I stepped in dog poop at some point because not everyone cleans up after their dogs. The trail has a bench every so often. But we didn’t see any water fountains or bathrooms at all. Maybe in a section we weren’t in. Guess I need to research other parts of it. Cool trail though and we will go back again.

I love walking, running and biking the trail. It is safe, clean and is shaded in a few areas. Its a nice way to get a little exercise on the way to Sunday Brunch

Made it out to this one on my bike. It was raining cats and dogs for most of the day but I was in for about 3 ½ hours of good riding. Yes, this is not a short ride, walk, run, but you don’t have to do it all at once of course. The trail spans 24 miles from end to end. There are abundant rest areas, benches, some covered spots, a few parks, and plenty of shaded areas. If you get hungry or thirsty along the way there are places to stop and get eats and refill drinks. This trail is still being officially built so there are some growing pains. I chose to start from Goldenrod Park(.5 miles from the actual start at Howell Branch). Heading East toward Oviedo is not bad, mostly urban with some cross roads. The Red Bug Rd overpass is still under construction, follow Aloma until you get to the Oveido Mall entrance. The trail turns right toward downtown but is hard to see and actually looks like a sidewalk at a glance. Follow it until Central St and head N. on Central just past the intersection at the town center. A few 100 yards later the trail resumes on the left. There are not many markings for the trail at this spot which is why I left the fifth star out of the equation. Take the short trail from Central to the main path again and turn right heading NE. At SR19 and Layer Elementary School the trail stops for a little bit but picks up after Soldier Field(ballpark). This section is on the map as complete but if you have a road bike you may be better following the spray painted sign on the ground it gets rough for a few 100 yards as it goes around a lumberyard on an improved but rutted out path. From here on out the trail is very well done until you get just shy of Lake Mary a few miles past SR17−92. This is very beautiful riding, but if you are using GPS there is a great deal of tree cover over this portion of the trail which is good for hot summer days, but bad for reception of most GPS receivers. The overpasses are in place all the way until you get to the trail head in Lake Mary. Lake Mary has many restaurants and shopping centers to stop at as well. The North end of the trail is marked better with big white signs. After turning off of the road onto the Greenway, you will wonder if you are going the right way after following the signs and nothing for a mile or more, but you are going the right way most likely. You won’t turn until a just before a park, which has a restroom and some covered benches. Overall, it is a great trail. Expect to get a little lost the first time on it. I recommend a map and GPS. There was cell service every time I checked, but that wasn’t very often. A nice trial with plenty of room for everyone I encountered.
