Food and environment were fine. It wasn’t anything that I would crave to back to but I wouldn’t fight going back. The food is good, but just that. Nothing amazing to write about.

I really like the taste of the food. But, it feels very artificial. Potatoes seem way overly processed, beans too. The meat is usually very tender, but I sense almost an Food enhancer chemical. Much like Chinese food. You always seem be super Hungry, food taste good, but your left a little hungry and sick afterward. And it’s not the kind of food that is good for left overs. My husband loves this place, so I go there often for take out. But, why no beer in a bbq joint?

Was headed to Salt City Burger with some friends, and we had never seen Walabys before, so we decided to stop in, and were all grad we did. I would say it is like Dickey’s in the way it is laid out and in the way you order/get your food, and though it isn’t as good as other popular smokehouses, it is significantly better, and quite a bit cheaper than Dickeys. My review was originally a bit different, as i had really sort of settled on the idea that it was another Dickey’s(of which i am not a fan) but most of the food we got really impressed me, and as mentioned the price is really awesome for any BBQ joint. The saddest part of my meal was the Brisket, and i am a huge brisket guy, so that was a big blow. They serve it pulled, and it has a unpleasant coloring, i originally thought they accidentally gave me pulled pork due to its light brown color. That was another reason i almost gave them a lower rating, but i have given them the benefit of their really good things that we got. The best part of all of our meals was the ribs, they were really quite tasty, and had a unique and delightful crispy texture that I’m not sure I’ve ever experience, but it was just very enjoyable to eat. They also carried a sort of crispy bacon flavor, whether that comes from a bacon grease basting, or just that the racks we got were on a lower rack being basted by other ribs fat I’m not sure, but for whatever it was it was the perfect flavor. That being said they did fall off the bone a bit more than i like. I like my ribs to pull away from the bone to the teeth, but not fall apart completely on their own. The next best thing were the«baked beans» which were really quite awesome, and almost worth the trip in from north salt lake on their own. They are not a traditional baked bean recipe by any standard, and sort of like if baked beans, a really good chili, and some brown sugar had a love child. They were sweet, spicy and complex. They also had a really good ink lemonade on tap that was very unique, if i had to guess i would say it was a strawberry lemonade with some coconut milk, and a hint of mint. It was refreshing, and just a smidgeon too sweet. After i left Walabys i had resigned that i would go back if i happened to be in the area, but would not go out of my way, or go into sandy to get there, but after consuming the leftovers and thinking over it the next morning, i have decided that i need to try some of those unique ribs and beans again and soon! I would recommend this place if you are looking for somewhere fast and well priced to eat, don’t expect«Patts», R&R, or «Smokin Bones» but expect somewhere between this and Dickeys, but with some really good signature and unique recipes.

Service is painfully slow. It was just over 20 minutes for my food to arrive. My friend who ordered right after me did not get his food for over 30 minutes! Apparently they«lost» his order. Food presentation was like someone tried and failed at making BBQ fancy. Mashed potatoes was barely above room temp. The meats tasted ok and the portions was average to small compared to other places. The worst was the roll that tasted like raw dough. Don’t waste your time here. For a better BBQ go the R&R BBQ on 114th and just off the freeway.

We asked which items were dairy free side dishes and got full attitude! The manager didn’t even make eye contact– rude!

This is one of the better bbq places I’ve been to. I had the tri-strip steak, loaded smashers, and Mac n cheese. All was excellent. Raspberry bbq sauce was delicious and not too raspberry. Loved it. The roll was incredible and they give you cinnamon butter with it. Awesome! I give the food 5 stars and I give the service 6 stars! These guys take care of you. They made sure we were continuously taken care of, all the way from the point of coming in and giving us recommendations to making sure we were satisfied and clearing our table when we were done. I’ll be back wallabys! Thanks!

This may be authentic Australian style BBQ, but if that’s the case then Australians suck at BBQ. This is fast food BBQ, similar to Dickey’s. The brisket, ribs, turkey and sausage were disgusting. I’m pretty sure the macaroni and cheese is the Stouffer’s frozen brand. The bread pudding was good but nothing special. Do yourself a favor and go to R&R if you want BBQ that’s fit for human consumption.

I was craving barbecue for lunch so when I found this place nearby, I had very high hopes. By the time I got my order, my mouth was watering in anticipation but that changed immediately when I took my first bite. It wasn’t terrible, it was just okay and nothing more. If I’m getting barbecue, I want the meat to be incredible. This was not even close. Same goes for the sides. The coleslaw was meh and the smashed potatoes and roll I just threw away after one bite. Which is CRAZY if you know me. I absolutely LOVE potatoes and bread. The biggest disappointment for me though is that when I had finished eating I was super full(you get a lot of food for not a ton of money) but not at all satiated. Anyway, the staff was really friendly and helpful and the food came out fast. It’s pretty inexpensive for the amount of food you get. Overall, not the worst place but there is definitely better in the world of BBQ. I probably wont be back.

I had ‘The Croc’ and it was amazing. Pork, bacon, cheese, and a juicy beef patty on a quality bun! What more can you ask for… well maybe if there were some onion rings inside. For $ 8.50 with a heap of fries on the side, they are seriously losing money on this dish. The pork was really tender, the bacon was quite nice, and the patty was so juicy. Ah, cooked to perfection. My wife got tri tip and she said it was really good, I had some too so I can agree with that. They have a lot of really good sides, the smashes are mashed potatoes with cheese, really good. She also got the mac and cheese, which was tasty as well. We were really happy with our meal and the atmosphere of the place and will definitely be back!

This place did not disappoint. I enjoyed their surf and turf. I don’t really like shrimp, but their shrimp was pretty good, considering it is shrimp. Their smasher(mashed potatoes and cheese) was good. the people I was with got the Melbourne burger and loved it, as well as the chips(fries). They BBQ sauces we also really good.

The 2 Meat Platters is such a good deal. Only 10.50 for a sizeable serving of delicious meats with 2-sides and a dinner roll. Out of the meat choices, I really like the Beef BBQ(tangy and sweet) and Lemon Pepper Chicken(very tasty). Sweet Chipotle BBQ Chicken and Brisket are just alright. They just don’t give the same excitement to my taste buds compared to the former two. For sides, I don’t really care for the Taz Eggs. They look and taste like a pink boiled eggs. Smashers is good. Fresh Veggies and Cucumber Salad are ok. I also tried their Freshly baked Cinnamon Roll. It is huge. It is soft and full with cinnamon and condensed milk goodness. We ended up having most of it for breakfast the next day. I won’t come here for my last meal on earth but I will probably come again sometime.

Came here with my friends because I have been hearing a lot About this place and I was craving a hearty meaty meal. This place did not disappoint when I got my meal. The ordering style here is seem to be pretty similar to many places I’ve been going to recently. You order at the counter, get a number, find a seat and they will bring you your food. The sauce on the counters are first come first get, people usually take them to their table. I ordered the three meat(brisket, honey habanero pork, and tri-tip steak), with a side of mash potatoes fully loaded, and baked beans. My meal also came with a dinner roll and cinnamon butter. The meats were all super tender and not dry at all. My favorite is the brisket. If you want more flavor they have different type of bbq sauce for you to chose. The mash potato was delicious and bake beans super good. My friend ordered the cinnamon roll for dessert. It was the size of my head! We shared it among three people and still couldn’t finish it. It was delicious, and not super sweet. Totally recommend getting a dessert here to share/take home. Great place to dine. Totally will come back here again.

What a great little place with a creative menu. This BBQ/smokehouse/grill merits return visits! I visited here for lunch. The place is clean and warm. We were greeted by staff and helped through choices on the menu. The menu is typical BBQ, with beef, poultry, and pork choices, sandwiches, and salads. The sides are done well, the Chips were standard French fries with a dusting of BBQ rub. Smashers were also good(mashed potatoes with green onions, cheese, and bacon). I had the Crock burger with pulled pork and bacon(which was slightly overdone). Normally I’m not a BBQ sauced burger lover but they did it right. Very messy, easily a five napkin meal. They also have a great variety of sauce choices. Menu has a lot of other, mostly protein choices. Not a place to take a vegan. Staff was great!

For fresh«fast food» bbq this place was great. I tried the brisket and pork. The brisket was a tad dry, but still tender. It was properly cooked and had a nice bark on it. The pork was juicy and tender. The eggs with beets were interesting. The Mac n Cheese was creamy and had a nice topping of bread crumbs. All 3 sauces were tasty. Dinner and a soft drink will be under $ 12 which is a good deal for real food. I’ll come back for more.

Wanted to like it be small portions of tough meat don’t cut it mate! The cucumber salad was decent. Tri Tip unchewable, pulled pork and chicken dry. Having just spent a month in Australia and New Zealand s hoping this place would be good.

food was just mediocre this time around, the beef brisket wasn’t very juicy or tender. The bbq was over sauced. At least I liked the cucumbers and the rice and beans. Maybe we were just here on an off day.

Wallaby’s Smokehouse is located where Dickies BBQ used to be, in the Quarry Bend shopping center. That is where the similarities end. For us Dickies was more about the sides, than the smoked meats. Wallaby’s has it all. We have tried the shredded pork, the shredded chicken and the brisket. All very well prepared and overall the portions are very generous. Their smashers(cheese mashed potatoes) are a must, and on the healthier side the steamed vegetables are very well prepared. Eat in and sample all their different sauces. Last but not least is desert. The cinnamon roll was recommended. Please see the photo!

This is definitely my favorite BBQ place in Utah! Everything is really good. Pork Ribs, Tri-Tip, Pulled Pork and Brisket are some of our favorite meat! They are so tender that Ribs literally comes off the bones when you pick them up. All of their meats are so perfectly cooked every time. Sides are also great, we usually get Cucumber salad, Smashers, Veggies, Baked beans. Staff are always so nice and helpful too. If you haven’t try this place yet, you must bookmark it and go ASAP!

New place in Sandy. Good selection of meats and some unique sides(cucumber salad was great!). I had smoked turkey for my meat and it was very good. All in all, good, fast BBQ with attentive staff. Not sure if it really is Australian or not, but as long as it’s tasty, who cares. Will visit again.
