Sandy Transit Center is a much better-than-expected gem. It is located near Sandy’s Historical Society and other Sandy city government buildings. You can get to quite a few different points, among them being Gresham and Timberline Lodge using the Sandy Area Metro and Mount Hood Express. The station has a huge plaza and there are lots of nearby places to eat. Sandy can’t be judged by it’s cover. This seemingly sleepy community serves Mount Hood tourists and was very much alive on New Year’s Day. There are lots of trees and the wooden buildings have a trendy Paul Bunyan characteristic to them. At least on holidays, you can park at the city hall which has a parking lot down a road behind it. Some of the buses arrive next to Hoffman’s intersection with Pioneer Boulevard. When I took the bus to TImberline Lodge for $ 2 each way, Mount Hood Express stopped next to the little plaza. All this goes to show is that there’s a difference between a one-horse town and a dozen-horse town. The Sandy Transit Center is indispensable to the experience of visitng Sandy.
