Empyrean Tattoo & Art

I knew I was going to Atlanta for business and before I came, I did some social media checks and decided upon Empyrean for my tattoo. Mike’s apprentice Liz was my artist and she really impressed me. I’d originally submitted some ideas of what I wanted for my butterfly cancer ribbon tribute tattoo and when I arrived Liz had a drawing for me to review. After a couple changes and Liz offering a great idea on how to incorporate the 3 ribbon colors I wanted, she got to work. She’s young in her career but I really enjoyed being tattoo’d by her. She had a steady, light touch and I am already hoping I’ll be back here again with a new idea for Liz to create.

Love this place. Great vibe through and through. Been working on a back piece with Oscar since September 2014, can’t say enough positive things about the process. It’s been a true collaboration, with Oscar consolidating my far-​scattered ideas & inspirations into a truly meaningful work of art that I will be proud to wear for the rest of my life. Everyone in this shop is very nice, very friendly, and without any of the attitude that can occasionally exist in tattoo shops. And the shop itself? Super nice. Lots of natural light, great décor, obviously some real thought went into putting the space together. So much nicer than your average shop!

I have followed all of these artists for quite a few years now and they are all spectacular! I trust their artistic ability and know that I can explain some ideas of what I’m thinking and then allow them to do their magic and they never disappoint! My husband and I recently got tattooed by Sean and he did an amazing job on our tattoos! The vibe at the shop is very relaxed and they make you feel very welcomed. Sean was so fun to talk to and joke around with during our tatts. I plan on coming back to get more tattoos from everyone in the shop. Love this shop!!!

I’m in the middle of my second tattoo with Mike. My experience started a bit rocky, as I was initially scheduled with a guest artist. I wasn’t happy with the way the first tattoo was turning out. Mike quickly saw my concern and asked me to come back to see him for the final session. I am STILL amazed at the way he was able to salvage the tattoo. Because of the dedication of not only Mike, but also his staff (I have a latex allergy and a tough schedule to work with), I was 100% pleased with the result. So much so that I’m now having my second piece done (and already conceptualizing a third).
Mike wants to make his customers comfortable, always modifying his conversation, music choice, break schedule, etc, to what the customer needs/​wants.
His reception folks are AMAZING. These words were spoken to me in the midst of my unhappiness with the guest artist, «You are wearing a tattoo that you received at our shop. And if you aren’t happy with our work, we aren’t happy to have you walking around that way. You are carrying our name with you, and that means something to us.» That kind of customer service is pretty rare.
This crew is worth every penny.

Mike McMahon does some really amazing work. He did a piece on the underside of my arm (I posted the picture here) of a turtle with a golden ring around it’s neck.
It’s from a Buddhist story about the preciousness and rarity of a human rebirth. (Google it if you want more info)
Mike came up with a great design, was very easy to work with and he works very fast. He then was able to blend the tattoo that he did with an existing one on the outside of mine arm to make a wonderful seamless half sleeve.
He is a true artist and a super nice guy.

Definitely not your ordinary tattoo shop; the place has it’s own unique vibe and everyone at the shop is super chill and friendly.
Mike’s an amazing artist and true professional; throughout the entire process from my initial consult to the last tattoo session, Mike worked with me on bringing my concept to life and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
During each of my sessions, I got to talk to both Sean & Oscar and see various pieces they were working on. These guys super talented and turn out some really dope tattoos.
Bottom line, you can’t go wrong with this shop!

This isn’t your ordinary tattoo shop. This place has class, and the artist kick some major tattooing ass. I’ve been coming to Oscar for over a year to get work done on my chest tattoo. When he moved to Empyrean Tattoo, I was more than happy to follow. Oscar does some amazing work and comes highly recommended by me. :)

Did research for a discount and walked into get two tattoos. I knew exactly what I wanted but once I mentioned the discount, I was asked to call and come back in between 5 and 6. I did so and Donna who greeted us, said she didn’t say that but actually told us to call from 1 – 2. She furthers tried to schedule us for tomorrow as artists «might» be available. –_​_​_​_​–

Mike is one of the best artists in Atlanta and it’s only fitting that he has his own shop now! I’m proud to say I was the second person ever tattooed in this shop. The interior design is awesome, including walls composed of reclaimed wood, which give it an awesome and unique vibe.
Mike has always been one of the most professional tattoo artists to work with. His consultation is incredibly professional and helpful. As for his work… let’s just say there are only two people in the city of Atlanta who I go to and Mike is one of them.
These guys are going to be doing some amazing things. This shop isn’t only a great addition to Sandy Springs, but to the entire Atlanta area.
