Cotijas is my favorite taco shop chain. My favorites are the hash brown burrito, pollo asado burrito and special number 22(three rolled tacos with all the fixings, a whole quesadilla and a drink!). This place is always clean and although it’s usually busy the service is pretty quick. There has only been one occasion where my burrito tasted a bit off, other than that it’s always been consistent, fresh and delicious! If your down by the border and not sure what to eat this Cotijas is always a sure thing! The only down side is that for some reason this location doesn’t serve agua de jamaica or tamarindo…

Located a hop, skip and literally a fence jump away from the Mexican border, how could you mess up a burrito?! I ordered the shrimp burrito and it was AWFUL! I don’t know what was up with the shrimp, but it was just not good. I had a whole lot of tortilla, runny crème sauce and wilted/old lettuce. I’ve never had anything unappetizing enough to throw it away, but that I did. I’ve heard other stuff is decent, namely the meat, and I like the one on H. Street in Chula Vista, but my burrito was no bueno. One star from me.

Mmmmmm! Shopping makes me hungry! It didn’t used to though, before I realized that his place was right there in the middle of my fave place to shop in SD. We were starving so we came here for recognizing the signage from the one we went to in Rancho Bernardo on our trip to Vegas the previous weekend. If anyone other than myself actually reads my reviews, then you might have noticed that I’ve been going to a lot of Cotija’s lately. I’ve been to even more than what’s on here, but these have just been the one’s with a J and the colorful signs and good fish tacos rather than the ones with X’s. Anyway, so this one had a very good salsa bar, a correct menu and an excellent fish burrito with lots of delish, crispy, beer battered fish, not too much cabbage, salsa fresca, white sauce and i got some guacamole in there. It was only $ 4 and was huge for that price. So worth it. The shrimp quesadilla was more like $ 6.50 and was just as huge and delicous as the version in RB. It was rolled up and cut in half and looked like two medium burritos. Lots of shrimp, cheese, white sauce and guacamole. It was so greasy and unhealthy, OMG, the best! They were very nice here and seemed to be doing good business. They should do well and stay around for quite a while. Check it out if you are shopping and get some amazing deals at the outlets.
