Overall bad supermarket. never enough people on the check out. Food product is not great, Deli closes early. Whoever said it is cheap?

This review is really for Safeway’s freezers. I frequent this store ALL the time since it’s near our house, and I will continue to do so for convenience’s sake, however the freezer situation is a near deal breaker. The fact that most of the ice cream is encrusted in frost is a bad sign, and sure enough, half the time I bring ice cream home, I open it up to find that it’s clearly melted and refrozen in their freezers and the texture is terrible. Stop ruining my ice cream Safeway!!!

First off, they close their Deli pretty early. If you wanted to get dinner there then you probably will have to catch an early dinner. The staff was seemed uninterested when I was asking them for help. There was literally a bunch of stuff on the floor. I ended up just grabbing a salad and clam chowder and left. I’m from San Jose visiting family and I was kinda unimpressed by this Safeway.

Apparently they hate autistic individuals at the self checkout. I have trouble with the machines and the person working them responded by saying«I don’t want to see him here again.» Discrimination in its finest. I am essentially being told I either use the register where the line makes me liable to a meltdown or I get banned from the store. The woman running the self checkout was Hispanic and I isn’t get her name. Management please have autism sensitivity training or something. And RESPONDTOTHISREVIEW. I’m incensed that I can no longer exercise my rights as a consumer to choose how to pay.

Be very careful when ordering for delivery from Safeway. They are very good at bragging about same day delivery if you place your order before 8am. I wasted the time it takes to do the online shopping, only to find that the next delivery day I can have is on FRIDAY!!! That is 4 DAYs away! I will not be wasting my time on this website again, and not in this store, if I can help it.

Unfortunately this is the only grocery in terra Linda. It is so bad that we get in our car and drive two exits to other grocery stores! On Saturday I went to buy cauliflower– the vegetable section was empty, no broccoli, no cauliflower, no bananas, shelves literally empty. How is that even possible? At least they have more checkers now, but still lines, the deli meat is never fresh, just yuck!

Take note Corporate! Has declined substantially. Not enough checkers. Expect to wait at least 15 minutes to escape. Last 3 times I have had to wait a long time with lines going into the aisles(and not at peak hours) on a Sunday. Prices have jumped significantly. 2 different people couldn’t find frozen pot-stickers and gave up. I found them on the bottom shelf out of sight. You can sense a lack of spirit as if everyone had a pay drop and I don’t see managers anymore. It’s really quite a shame because this store used to be pretty awesome… especially the staff.

Recently purchased roast beef from deli department. It was on sale for $ 10.99/lb but I was charged $ 14.99/lb. She played the dumb and said I would get my club card discount at the register. I insisted and she admitted that she entered the wrong item number. I was nice and didn’t make it a big deal since mistakes can happen till i open the bag. It looks like I bought 3lbs of shoe soles! They are sooo thick! The person(idiot) who used the slicer has to be fired. Is that why they were on sale? Shame on you Safeway!

I would not typically review Safeway, but this is one of the worst Safeways. The staff and service are slow. Don’t ever go there during peak times or if you are in a hurry. If you have to go to Safeway go to the Hamilton one. Also, I have bought more than one package of meat from the meat section to unwrap it and find out that it was bad.

I get the feeling«Will F» works for Safeway because there is absolutely nothing good about it. This is the worst Safeway I have ever walked into. Just read most other reviews, there mostly bad. The customer service at this location is horrible, pathetic really. I have just kept my mouth shut and put up with it like most do for a long time now but i am just sooo sick of it. Recently, and the reason i finally decided to blow off some steam on Unilocal is… Twice now i have gone to customer service in the past couple weeks and the same girl completely ignored me, she wouldn’t even come out of the office. SO, I went over to a checker and asked if they would send someone, the first checkers response to me was I don’t have time for that, then the guy checking next to her reluctantly called for me. One minute later the girl at the customer service booth came storming out of the office, approached me with a disgusted look on her face and dint say one word. Just stared at me like I just ruined her day. I know darn well she saw me standing there through the window but she apparently had better things to do then deal with a customer. Huh, go figure. Well, I asked her for a $ 300 money order anyway, and get this, her reply was, «sorry I can’t do it for that amount you’ll have to go somewhere else.» OMG, since when can’t you issue a $ 300 money order? Are you kidding me? I could’t believe what i was hearing. She was so full of it, she didn’t want to bother helping me was the problem. This is the same girl that two weeks back was goofing around in the customer service office with some other lady and they both saw me and shut the door. they didn’t even bother to acknowledge me or help me. I kid you not, they looked at me, they were laughing about something and then shut the door and left me standing there. I was like wtf. So I had to go find some one else to help me. The person that helped me opened the office door at first and asked the girls to help me but they gave her attitude too, and then gave me a dirty look, I was like, what is wrong with these people, geez. I just want a money order, its not that difficult. Sigh. Ya know, with the change in ownership I had really hoped that this location would get better but nothing has changed. In fact in some ways it has gotten worse. The lack of sufficient staff, making customers bag there own groceries at self check out. Funny, i don’t recall applying to work at Safeway. Making 20+ customers wait in one line because they wont hire the staff to open more check out lines than that. Never can find anyone at the bakery or the deli. you have to yell at the top of your lungs to get someones attention and its usually one poor soul that has to handle the whole area. The list goes on and on. Anyway, I for one am sick if it and I have asked my whole family and some friends to stop going there. This lousy customer service has to stop and the store needs major improvement. The big part of the problem is the management and they just don’t give a hoot. I have witnessed someone in management there, some guy looks young, joking around with what looked like friends near the check out playing loud music and dancing around, meanwhile completely ignoring the customers needs. I’m all for people having a good time but that wasn’t the time or place. I mean, in front of customers in the store, its not professional and actually quite rude. I hope that upper management listens. Please get control of this location and you can start by changing the staff at the customer service booth. ;-) Off to Scotty’s…

there is no way to check out at this Safeway in less than 20 minutes… ever. the checkout line constantly stops for managers to give cashiers codes or swipe cards or God knows what. the self checkout is frequently unattended — inevitably you’ll need some sort of scan or code punch in — and the manager request, wait, scan, code cycle then repeats for the customers just like the checkout clerks. the considerable checkout problems outweigh the general high quality of the items and cleanliness of the store.

This safeway has increasing selections of organic and healthy choices. It has the best Starbucks, the coffee tastes better than the Starbucks a few doors away. The coffee baristers are the best. The service at this Safeway is always good. I was browsing by the magazine section a few weeks ago and featured was«Paleo» magazine. I bought it, read it cover to cover, and it has changed my life. Feel better, lost weight, more muscle, more energy after applying some of the magazine principles. I give a lot of credit to Safeway for showcasing that magazine, seems lucky or inspired. They are on the right path.

I like this Safeway. It’s clean and pretty well laid out. The wine selection is also pretty amazing here, compared to other Safeways. The produce section is pretty impressive too. Yes, it gets packed more than other Safeways, but that is just because its a nice one! Enjoy:)

Old, dried out hot soup containers. And a local customer at the hot soup table at lunch time today told us the Terra Linda Safeway is the WORST for not re-filling their hot soups. What the heck Safeway? You apparently miss out on MANY soup sales. Get it together! Maybe fire a manager? Or review your deli staff to be sure you’ve got people who can diligently do their jobs? Do what you have to to FIX this. Please. I wanted soup for lunch. You let me down.

This is by far the worst Safeway let alone grocery store I have ever been to! As I stand in line behind 14 other people I hear they all have the same complaints. I am new to the area and have been to many other safe ways before. This is my third time shopping here and they are 3 for 3 in shit service. The looks here are deceiving. Lots of Parking, new stuff and bright lights. Lots of selection. I can tell corporate Safeway has invested into this location. They forgot to invest in the management here. I have even had the employees tell me this is the worst Safeway they have ever worked at. I had a $ 500 shopping trip here last week and I had to bag all my own stuff. I’m a paying customer and I know the price of the bagger is built into the overhead on the product. When I complained they said«sorry, we just don’t have the people» WTF?!? Rant over. I’m still in line… Get it together Safeway. Particularly you store manager.

I just moved to San Rafael, thought I was moving to one of the nicest areas in the US, and this Safeway will definitely make one think they have enetered the barrio. I’ve been to better grocery stores in bad neighborhoods and cant believe this is my local store. 1st off: place can get busy, not crazy busy, but when there’s only 1 – 2 cashier(s) lines can form quick. Also, when the cashiers move slower than molasses the lines can then begin to get long and not move. Grrrrrrr, I don’t like waiting in line for 20 min. to buy 3 items! Freaking ridiculous! 2nd off: it seems really dark inside and the could use some upgrading. The prices are high which comes with the location but please make it nicer inside. It also seems like it attracts a rougher crowd. Last time i was in there, this kid comes in and steals something and then I leave as a cop walks in. There were also some other cops at the other end of the grocery store parked by the entrance. I’ve seen some homeless people and schizos there before too. Kinda not really what I was expecting for Marin.

Located in Northgate 1. Great produce section. I would liken it to Molly Stones or the Mill Valley Safeway at Strawberry. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and had a really pleasant experience, as per the usual. Milled around the produce section, picked up some fantastic looking(and later, tasting) blackberries and raspberries. Wandered through the aisles to get items for the house after a stressful morning and was relieved that my shopping experience was so easy. Plenty of cashiers. A great Starbucks with its own seating area inside the Safeway.
